Er, OUG,
Perhaps you might like to give OLO’ers the chance to follow up on some of your links and your multiple posts? If you give us a couple of weeks before posting any more we might get the chance to at the very least do a “mind if I cut in?” Make a cupper, sit down, read the bible to keep yourself occupied and put on a pair of boxing gloves and stay away from your keyboard. Otherwise just take over the whole thread and we can just sit back and watch you have a marvelous chat with yourself! Thanks. Posted by spindoc, Wednesday, 27 November 2013 4:37:02 PM

My friend I am sure to offend you and others.
Yet hid from my duty to be accountable for my actions amongst your mob once. No more committed Christian than me. Ignoring the cash hungry TV evangelists. Even those sent to prison. And ignoring too why so many Gods if only one made us. Was God having a bad day, making so many others who claimed to be the one. To put us at one another's throats in all of history in the names of so many Gods, then why? What will heaven be like, billions on their knees forever totally loving a God, why? Are my rights to follow my non-belief as right as yours to be you? My Christmas is a continuation of what it was before the Christ Myth. A drink a laugh boxing day cricket and? spending time with the family. Posted by Belly, Thursday, 28 November 2013 6:15:32 AM

the document offers..the Roman Catholic Church..a road map
for navigating..the complexities of the..modern world,..with the Gospel..as a compass
for.;.what the pope..called
“a new phase..of ev-angel-ization,.
*one marked by..enthusiasm..joy..and vitality.”
The document,..[the Joy of the Gospel)..is/a papal pronouncement..
known as an apostolic exhortation,..it..was the first major written work Francis..has created*..since he was chosen eight months ago to lead the 2,000-year-old church.
It challenges the church..to..“abandon the complacent/attitude that says: ‘We have always..done it this way,'”..and he seeks..to find novel,..more immediate..“bold and creative.. ways to speak to the faithful..and to make..the..service..of the church more meaningful.
The 84-page document is essentially..a compendium of what Pope Francis has said..in dozens of speeches and sermons since he became pope in March.
“It is the fruit/of personal reflection,”..the Vatican spokesman,
the Rev. Federico Lombardi,..said at a news conference.
“There is coherence..between..the words/of..the documents
and..the actions..of the pope.”
An apostolic exhortation..does*not/..define Church doctrine,
and the document makes clear..that some issues..like abortion,
or the ordination of women,,are not up for discussion.
But there is an acknowledgment too,..that the world has changed,
and that the church must change with it...It is time, Pope Francis said, for “still broader opportunities..for a more incisive female presence in the Church,” in particular “in the various other settings where important decisions are made.”
The local church must have greater say in decision-making, and the renewal of the church can only gain strength if it begins from the bottom up, the pope said.
Bishops and priests on the ground have a better sense of the needs of the faithful, as well as their frustrations, and parishes should become a critical part of the church’s evangelization and outreach.
A parish should be a point of “contact with the homes and the lives of its people,” and not a “useless structure out of touch with people or a self-absorbed cluster made up of a chosen few,” he wrote.
