"Germany offers gender-neutral option for babies, but advocates say law doesn't go far enough.

Germany has become the first European country to allow babies born with characteristics of both sexes to be registered as neither male nor female.

Earlier this year, Australia became the first country in the world to give three options for gender on all official documents ...."

This condition is quite rare Is Mise , so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
I don't think anyone is trying to recognise three genders as such, but rather not to allow Doctors and parents to 'decide' the baby's gender before the child is old enough to show leanings to one or the other gender themselves.

Terrible problems have occurred in the past when children tragically born with sexual characteristics of both genders, have been made to be one gender when they don't feel as though they are that gender.

I guess it must be something like a homosexual being told they aren't gay, when in actual fact , they KNOW who they are...

I think it is all very sad.

Suseonline,
Yes, we need to put a line in the sand for situations which although they do occur, are so rare that they simply can be dealt with on an individual level without much fanfare by those whose interest is to make mountains out of mole hills.

Suseonline is quite right.
Some tiny part of one percent would cover the number.
And if we say our country has moved to cover the issue what next? what more can we do?
We soon may need to protect the decreasing rights of the majority.
Dreadful situation they find them selves in! being such that no one considers them.

Germany is well-placed to have this option because they don't have a taboo on nudity, so they don't have to build a third set of toilets everywhere for this new category.

I am looking forward to the day when people are not classified or registered by their sexual organs to begin with, when those small differences are considered 'no big deal', thus no one ever cares to modify their body to suit this definition or another.

Yuyutsu,
So you don't mind men who loiter around public toilets and are known to accost women entering the same toilets as ladies. Until every individual cubicle is open to a public place such men are a threat to women. Public toilets are frequented by sexual perverts.
