Hi all,
Never in my life have I been so humbled. Here before me I have the whole gambit of philosophical evolution and failed to recognize it.
I failed to reason and without reasonability man is nothing but should I deny my right to question? I think not.
My problem probably lies rooted in militarism and law enforcement barbarity lightly flavored with a sprinkling of liberalism and heavily garnished with Northern Ireland reactivity.
I now see the folly of my ways although I doubt my ability to bend to much in the wind, I shall try.
Whomever or whatever your God may he bless you all as you try to accept my humble apology.
I have to say the moderator was very smart to allow this one to go through to the keeper though.

runner: don't have and never have had any Jayb.

Picked names out of a hat.

rehctub: I say this because one minute a very normal post appears, then bingo, all of a sudden you need an interpreter for the next.

There are a few like that.

saltpetre: Hmmm, how dull this life would be without the cut and thrust of diverse discourse, ranging widely and wildly o'er the very universe and unplumbed depths of 'reason' - or over the length of a piece of string?
(The answer of course is a banana of 'this colour'.)(Or,42?)

UOG: ..[the formula..to determine..

Buggar, beat me to it.

OK, UOG, you can stay.

Thank you OUG and Saltpetre : )

But....I went off on a tangent. Perhaps a little more wisdom may have seen me stand back and see the bigger picture...(not always as wise as I wish to be - and somewhat reactive:)

The wisest two here turn out to be OUG and Graham. Graham for allowing it to go up, and having faith in us - and OUG for his non-defensive stance and his humility.

And what is our bounty from all this, aside from a decent thread imbued with charity and good faith?

Chris Gaff's post above is for me a highlight of my time on OLO. Such humility is rare around here, where things "usually" descend quite rapidly into a slanging match.

This thread defied the odds and brought out the best in us.

"Still, I'm wondering how I would have felt if, instead of OUG, I'd clicked on OLO this morning and seen a whole thread dedicated to "Veto Poirot"."

You almost didn't have to wonder, Poirot... I tried, but it was rejected. Which was just as well, because autocorrect was on and had changed the title from 'Viva'!

As for Saltpetre and OUG... "unplumbed depths of 'reason' - or over the length of a piece of string?"

You seemed to have not noticed that this isn't a piece of string but a thread.

(Whilst we're at it, what is the furthest you can walk into a forest?)

'Totes' to chrisgaff1000 for this morning's post.

Kudos to chrisgaff1000 for his use of the word, humbled. So many politicians on being elected say they are humbled. Since my dictionary has the two meanings of humbled as 'decisively defeated' or 'brought down' it is his opponent who is actually humbled. The defeated candidates never admit to being humbled but will often contend that they didn't get their message across.

A cornucopia of good wishes to you, chrisgaff1000. May you continue to enjoy the cut and thrust of olo.
