I too am a huge believer that if you are offended by something, porn, fowl language,
Gays etc, rather than try to change other people's world, you can simply choose to ignore it. As for OUG, I don't get offended by his/her posts, in fact, I get a chuckle out of them sometimes, as I have to wonder if he/she is not two people using the same log on. I say this because one minute a very normal post appears, then bingo, all of a sudden you need an interpreter for the next. As far as I'm concerned OUG is a valued poster, both because the posts either amuse me, or allow me to go elsewhere, especially with those multiple links. So this is probably unfolding as Graham suspected it would.
OUG is probably reaping the sort of support here that a poster can usually only dream of. It turns into something quite uplifting to see so much measured and positive opinion of a fellow poster. Still, I'm wondering how I would have felt if, instead of OUG, I'd clicked on OLO this morning and seen a whole thread dedicated to "Veto Poirot". Dear chrisgaff1001 (sorry couldn't resist),
OUG has been a fixture of this place for eternity, he is possibly an acquired taste but one many of us old timers have evolved with. When he is on song there are definitely pearls to be found and his message is usually delivered with more grace than I have been able to muster of late. Dear OUG, You wrote; “being ignored is painful”. Well I have never had a thread dedicated to me. Kudos. Posted by csteele, Tuesday, 3 September 2013 9:39:17 PM

Ah, dear Poirot, surely you jest:
>Still, I'm wondering how I would have felt if, instead of OUG, I'd clicked on OLO this morning and seen a whole thread dedicated to "Veto Poirot".< Pray, who would be so bold as to challenge OLO's appreciation of the cutting wit and surgical analysis of the ultra-perceptive moustachioed Belgian-in-disguise? Surely only a churlish cuckold (or one who has been soundly cuffed about the ears, metaphorically of course). But then ... on the question of paid parental leave ....? Labor? The LNP? Asylum seekers? Hmmm, how dull this life would be without the cut and thrust of diverse discourse, ranging widely and wildly o'er the very universe and unplumbed depths of 'reason' - or over the length of a piece of string? (The answer of course is a banana of 'this colour'.)(Or,42?) Posted by Saltpetre, Wednesday, 4 September 2013 12:39:18 AM

don't have and never have had any Jayb. would be desperately disappointed if I did. Just happens no one could be as bad as what we have had in the last 6 years.
