"What do you reckon....?"
I reckon Hasbeen thinks facts have got nothing to do with it - what a joke. Posted by bonmot, Friday, 7 September 2012 7:42:04 AM

Well thanks fellers, obviously you can't fault my feelings on Ruddy.
Thanks for the education. I guess I have always assumed the red head was Irish, as all her thinking is so incredibly stupid, a common failing of the Irish. I guess others in the Britain part of Great Britain can be just as stupid. Perhaps I have not heard of her welsh heritage, as the welsh have been trying to cover it up. Hell, who would want their name associated with that fool. Posted by Hasbeen, Friday, 7 September 2012 9:40:58 AM

I wish Victorians would get rid of theirs before
he totally destroys the state. So far - health, transport, and now education and jobs, have been hit the hardest. Still, let this be a warning as to what's around the corner federally, if the Opposition ever gets in. America, here we come! Posted by Lexi, Friday, 7 September 2012 9:45:27 AM

Whether an individual or a government spends more than it gets in income, it either has to curtail the spending or borrow the money.
The whole world financial crisis has occurred because of the debt that has been racked up and we have mortgaged the future. Debt has to be payed back unless it is monetised resulting in inflation. That is what happens in these financial circumstances. Pain is the eventual result of this profligacy. I suppose there is the alternative of putting everyone's personal tax up to pay for all the public servants, but I can imagine the reaction to that. I can see more social unrest throughout the world as populations blame their governments for the mess we are in, forgetting that we always vote for the party that will give us the most, usually with other people's money. We have got to the stage where interest on borrowed money becomes a mill stone around our necks. It has to stop somewhere and of course it hurts. Posted by snake, Friday, 7 September 2012 10:41:27 AM

Here is a very simple cycle of political power I use.
1) Liberal Government in power takes everything away from the people and raises taxes PUTS the country in SURPLUS. After a few years the people kick them out. 2) Labor come in on promises to give the people everything and reduce taxes but in the process they PUT the country BILLION of dollars in DEBT. After a few years the people kick them out. There you have the cycle of politics. Posted by Philip S, Friday, 7 September 2012 11:05:01 AM

Ahh Haz, get rid of this fool, get rid of that fool…. and install who exactly??
Who’s gunna do a better job? It’s the policies that up the pole, and the basic philosophy that is fundamentally flawed. Fix these, and we’ll be right. Don’t fix em, and no leader will be able to do any better than your beloathed redhead! Hey, that funny-faced little Bobby Carr. He’s your man! He is just about the only leader who would (hopefully) work on correcting the whole caboodle from the roots up, starting off with dumping the continuous expansionist philosophy and adopting one of moving directly towards a sustainable society. As for Rudd telling anyone how to do anything. I agree, that is certainly the joke of the day!! Posted by Ludwig, Friday, 7 September 2012 11:18:15 AM

You can make a stupid (or a leftie for that matter) person drink water but you can't lead them to it.

Rudd should have never left South Park.

Yes Lexi, there will be cutbacks galore if the coalition wins the election.
Similar to Victoria is it ? Ah well thats life, you do not have the money ! Tough ! Ludwich, you do not live in NSW, be careful what you wish for. We have been there done that. BTW snake, just exactly what does monetise debt mean ? I thought I knew, but the monetising of debt that is going on in Europe seems to be to fix the debt problem, borrow more ! Hasbeen bad news I am afraid, you can not count.
Did not find it funny but laughed, at you. Ah but there is more! Rudd is nearly back, could be as early as this month. Quantas boss? well he cannot count either! In an effort to break the unions back he broke the firms back. He is nearly gone to, but his firm? will arise from the ashes. Not as the Quantas we know, but one that can compete on the big market. What a disappointment.
I saw the heading and thought, that's a good idea, let's lighten up a little and pass around a few Friday jokes. Anyway, I'm going to ignore everyone else's off-topic contributions, and post today's offering from Popbitch's Old Jokes Home: "Me and the missus went to a restaurant last night. Some of the other diners called me 'paedo' and 'cradle snatcher'. All because I'm 52 and she's 21... Totally ruined our 10th anniversary." Posted by Pericles, Friday, 7 September 2012 4:04:47 PM

Pericles - Come on I thought my cycle of political power should have gone at least a small way to amusing you.

Baz
You have it exactly right. It means borrowing more money, increasing the money supply, printing causing inflation, kicking the can down the road, creating bonds to be bought by the banks, bailing out banks too big to fail......You name it, all of these. Who’s gunna do a better job?
Luddy, Are you having us on ? Posted by individual, Friday, 7 September 2012 6:15:15 PM

Dear Bazz,
Cut-backs are fine when they're part of long-term planning policies and are introduced gradually so that they don't impact severely on people's lives. However, cutting back on basics like - infrastructure, health, education, jobs, et cetera - in a cut-throat manner which causes severe social damage is not the way for politicians to win elections - unless they want to commit political suicide as is currently happening in NSW, Queensland, and Victoria. And yes - it is tough, but not for the rich. They continue to have their loop-holes. Posted by Lexi, Friday, 7 September 2012 6:25:01 PM

Dear Pericles,
I decided to not do a comedy routine, because if I did you would probably just laugh at me. Posted by Lexi, Friday, 7 September 2012 6:26:47 PM

So who's gunna do a better job Indi??
Any better suggestions than Bobby Carrtoonface? Posted by Ludwig, Friday, 7 September 2012 9:37:42 PM

Any better suggestions than Bobby Carrtoonface?
Ludwig, Any conservative village idiot couldn't help doing a better job than anyone within the ALP. Posted by individual, Friday, 7 September 2012 9:45:16 PM

Yes but Indi there are no village idiots in the running to lead the country.
Oh... hold on.... Aren't both Lib and Lab the epitome of village idiocy?? So much for your assertion! Posted by Ludwig, Friday, 7 September 2012 10:35:49 PM

Is the Liberal Party thinking of a name change?
"The Conservative Village Idiots" has a nice ring to it. : ) Posted by Poirot, Friday, 7 September 2012 10:55:58 PM

For Pericles, five from the funniest joke of the Fringe Dave awards... and because I regard the one-liner as an artform.
"I was raised as an only child, which really annoyed my sister." – Will Marsh "I'm good friends with 25 letters of the alphabet … I don't know Y." – Chris Turner "Pornography is often frowned upon, but that's only because I'm concentrating." – George Ryegold "My mum's so pessimistic, that if there was an Olympics for pessimism … she wouldn't fancy her chances." – Nish Kumar "I needed a password eight characters long so I picked Snow White and the Seven Dwarves." – Nick Helm But I still love the truth of Jimmy Carr's: "I'm not being condescending, I'm too busy thinking about far more important things you wouldn't understand." Village idiot Indy?
While your bitter contributions, and gee are they that, continue the comedy thread with in this one. Are you aware of the saying *people in glass houses should not throw stones*? Posted by Belly, Saturday, 8 September 2012 5:26:06 AM
| |
Belly,
You're right, glass is way too fragile. The trouble is that Labor have built tinted glass houses so one can't see either way. The only way to see what's going on is by breaking a window. Stones are the only tool to use because Labor made glass cutters too expensive. You say I'm bitter, of course I am, wouldn't you be if you could understand what's really going on ? Thank you, Pericles. I was hoping that your sanity might divert this thread into something more positive, productive and enjoyable, but there you go.

Individual, you are well aware my charge is true.
In this threadv alone you at least twice target the IQ of every Australian. I unlike you, am always willing to learn, should there be some hidden, to me. Humor or brilliant understanding in your posts, inform this silly old fella how to find it. Loudmouth, you are respected by almost every one,for sure me. But in the matter of this thread,I too enjoyed the only real joke, are all contributors so wrong to have differing views? Posted by Belly, Saturday, 8 September 2012 4:29:28 PM

Hi Belly,
All of the parties are running jokes at the moment. Maybe it's the times. I guess we're the same vintage, Belly, so we can both look back, ponder the current political scene and ask ourselves; should we laugh or cry ? Oh well, it's 5.00 pm, on a Saturday, time for the red wine. Cheers, Joe P.S. For all that and all that, condolences to our Prime Minister. Posted by Loudmouth, Saturday, 8 September 2012 5:33:30 PM

Gday Joe,Loudmouth very true all of it and shared sympathy to Gillard.
Some will never know what we are talking about. They never knew just how much better most have been. But I bring news, I think and hope good news. If any one cares, to go to ABC on line. Highlight NSW. Then council election results. The whole states results are there. Over all a deep spotlight is on the ALP results. Losses of up to 8 point something are there. Some councils will have no Labor Representatives for the first time in 20 years! Canberra must see, and if one leader go,s? The other just has to. It would leave one side lead by a race horse the other by an aged draught horse. Better things ahead. Posted by Belly, Sunday, 9 September 2012 5:10:07 AM

On the news today, that was that great miss manager of taxpayer funds, Kevin Rudd giving Campbell Newman instructions on how to run the state.
True to form, he was advising him to waste as much money as possible. The man still thinks he knows best.
Then watching the news of Qantas doings, I could not help but think that we have an Irish expat providing Qantas the worst management, for the greatest loss it has ever had.
Meanwhile we have an Irish immigrant providing the worst management the country has ever had.
What do you reckon, will Qantas get rid of its fool, before or after we get rid of ours?
