The survivors from the latest boat sinking were transferred from Australian ships to Indonesian land.
Finally after years and hundreds being picked up well into Indonesian waters and being transported to Australian land.
Now all they have to do is start sending boats back.
The number of boats in the last few weeks is the highest ever despite the Indonesian navy deploying ships to the country's southern waters how convenient they could not find or stop any.
Julia did not make a big song and dance so not sure who made the decision but it is a welcome relief and hopefully will send a message Australians are no longer providing a taxi service.

Yes Phillip, however given the governments rehearsed line of late, 'they (illegals) face the prospect of....... Rather than being accepted into Au' I have to wonder if our strings are being pulled from powers outside of Australia.

PS,

Unfortunately, I don't think the government has the cajones to turn the boats around. Just look at how many people had to die before they finally did something about off shore processing.

Labor has to be dragged kicking and screaming to do the right thing.

How are the refugees going to get to Nauru. Without causing law-suites.
The goal post's have moved somewhat than 10 years ago.
What happened before was in the golden years as Mr Abbott will tell you, there is nothing like living in the past.

If Australia axed it's humanitarian resettlement plan and pulled out of the treaty on refugees the "boat people" wouldn't be anyone's problem because they wouldn't be coming south.
How is the Lib/Labor/Green machine "doing the right thing" by Indonesia and Malaysia, the people of PNG and Nauru don't want to be part of the problem either, it's their Australian backed governments who are accepting the refugee prisons.
Furthermore why should we provide a safety valve for South West Asia's ethnic problems? Why should we do anything to help the Pakistanis who support the Taliban, why should we help Hazara, when their "persecution" is a result of their leaders choice to become Iran's death squads and terror cadres in Afghanistan?
Australians don't care about "refugees" and they don't like this country being the dumping ground for the riff raff of South West Asia.
