Damn well said Bazz.
Arjay, I saw this comic and instantly thought of you. http://www.xkcd.com/1081/ Enjoy. And do try to calm down for a while. All this stress and paranoia can't be good for your health. Posted by TurnRightThenLeft, Tuesday, 17 July 2012 12:41:26 AM

Arjay,
Your single minded obsession with painting the US as the bogey man is tiresome. If you read the link you posted, it does not mean that an authoritarian dictator has seized control of all communication, rather that because during a disaster every tom, dick and harry feels the need to phone everyone else, that the networks fail and emergency services are compromised. That the government has put in place measures to temporarily make these services available on a priority basis to police, ambulances etc. Just as when there is a road accident, motorists inconvenienced by emergency services blocking off the scene of the accident, does not mean military rule is in force. The latest but greatest I came across recently was fear mongering with "Obamacare" regarding "a chip" that "will be implanted in every US citizen". Turns out, if they took the time to actually read the act it goes on about how a device (electrical medical appliance) needs to be registered under the act. Many have assumed ... or actually made an effort to misinform which is more likely the case ... this is an RFID implant. It isn't. It's simply that doctors need to register the tools of their trade.
Yanks are insane. Posted by StG, Tuesday, 17 July 2012 1:12:24 PM

I think for the first time ever I can echo what the Shadow Minister said. They did that here in the Brisbane Valley during the floods last year. They limited who could use it, for obvious reasons. Emergency services need access more than anyone during an emergency. Fair enough.

StG, because of the way the General Discussion Index displays you may not have noticed OLO's modest little discussion at the end of March on the subject of mandated RFID chip implants…. Obama was apparently involved there too.
http://forum.onlineopinion.com.au/thread.asp?discussion=5052 I've no doubt you would find it a most interesting and entertaining read. Posted by WmTrevor, Tuesday, 17 July 2012 3:53:17 PM
