http://globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=28144 'Obama raises the Military Stakes;Confrontation on the Borders of Russia and China.' context=va&aid=28144 The Western Oligarchs are in total disarray.Prof James Petras does an excellent appraisal of the chaos the Western oligarchs have created for us and themselves.

Recently Obama came here and moved the focus of aggression towards China/Russia.They (Western Oligarchs) have been forced to withdraw from Afghanistan and Iraq. They are broke yet still persist in this delusional objective of a ' New World Order' that now looks less achievable than ever.

As Prof Petras notes, our Aust economy will be destroyed with a war with China.Add a CO2 tax into the equation and we will make Greece look good.

Even with Russia moving 2 warships + 4 Nuclear Subs into Syria,Obama and Gereral David Petraeus have not backed away from their hawkish stance towards China/Russia.They are now trying to blame the 911 attacks on Iran saying it had a hand in the planning. They have become a farcical joke of their own design.

With the awareness that exists in the West of the financial corruption and the lies of terrorism being used to steal resources and energy,I cannot see a demoralised Western Military taking on the might of China/Russia.All wars end up being fought by foot soldiers and door to door combat. It can only finish in nasty nuclear chaos.

Before anyone comments, read the brilliant article by Prof James Petras.

The really big question for most us of sound mind is how we stop the Western Oligarchs from taking us to war with Russia/China.China does not want war.It has already won the peace. As we've seen at Pearl Harbour, Gulf of Tonkin and now 911, these people have long history of creating or allowing attacks to happen to justify aggression.

To add to this apocalyptic end,we have the Bible and the Mayans predicting 2012 as being a cataclysmic yr, which for some, is a perverted "manifest destiny" for them to realise their lust for world domination.

We are lucky that Vladmir Putin has rose to the occasion and taken these lunatics on.While Russia and China are no shining light of democracy, the arrival of fascism in the West looks far nastier.

Arjay:

There is an outstanding debt to be repaid. Defeat by the US in Vietnam!
Also: America has set a trap in Afghanistan for the Chinese. Chinese are developing the mining of Afghan resources. Big mistake for the future!

Although I have yet to read the article by Prof Petras to which you refer Arjay, I must commend you for a topic of substance. And I also agree that the Western oligarchy is over, and has been for quite some time.

On the subject of the U.S. military on the the back foot and and some future time, getting it's butt kicked by Chinese ground forces ?, the scary thing is, that no one in the world would be more capable of using it's nuclear arsenal than they would be in such circumstances, particularly out of their inaccurate and unchanged avaristic view, that they are wearing the white hats and have "God" on their side.

Countries like Australia should start thinking more seriously about their own capability to defend their own shores, instead of entertaining the falsehood that a base containing 2500 American Marines, provides any enhancement to Australia's defence position whatsoever.

It might provide a target however for enemies whom regard the base as another piece of America, which is ironically the way the U.S. defence people on the base will consider the territory they inhabit themselves. Australia's defence being that last thing on their mind in reality.

I am reminded of the real reason the Whitlam Gov't was removed from power, it was because they questioned the activities of the U.S. spy installation at Pine Gap.

Whitlam suggested to the U.S, that without Australian participation at the facility it was unclear that the installation was not also being used to spy on Australian citizens. He threatened not to renew the lease unless such local participation conditions could be met.

You have to remember that at this time Whitlam's Govt had also been instrumental in ending the Vietnam War prior too these events, and were already not popular with the U.S. administration.

The absolute proof of the pudding in this synopsis is that Pine Gap's lease expired on Nov 11th 1975. The very day of the dismissal election. The very first thing that Malcolm Fraser did as PM was renew that lease unconditionally, just after seeing the GG and being sworn in. This is a truly unfortunate fact for the admirable, articulate and ethical Malcolm Fraser we know today. I now believe he was deceived and mis-informed by the U.S.

The point I'm trying too make Arjay, is that Australia has never actually received loyalty in the true sense from our defence relationship with the U.S. at any point in time in history so far, anyway. I have always been sensitive to this.

The recent Obama gift of a U.S. Base is more of the same and has nothing to do with Australia's interests, but is in fact, in the U.S's interests in their view, that is the only reason we are getting it. Now it is sold by a black man with an orthodontic smile. The same poo, just a different bucket.

The scary bit is, that Australians in 1975 knew what the Pine Gap base was capable of doing and was doing. It's specialty was intercepting private phone calls, world wide. Whitlam correctly pointed out, that if this facility was capable of such ; then the calls of Australian citizens could be also be monitored by the U.S without the knowledge of Australia. He believed this was a security issue for australia not an enhancement.

There has been no reporting to my knowledge by the media today about how this new U.S. military facility will function, nor what it's actual purpose for existence is. This is the fundamental difference between the the freedom of my youth compared to the freedom today. Information or truth is no longer readily available. This is the U.S. influence. It provides this media propaganda and distraction whilst it conducts worldwide crusades in pursuit of it's mis-begotten belief system that rampant capitalism has a soul, or something you can hang your hat on.
