Poirot,
If you actually listen to the interview or read the article, the UNHCR indicated that it is not inclined to get involved, as it did not get involved in setting up Nauru previously, but did not decline to get involved in the assessments. The issue is now whether the labor caucus has the guts to turf out Gillard, and whether the independents have the guts to admit they made a huge mistake saddling Australia with an incompetent government. SM,
Whichever way you try to spin it the UNHCR has obviously taken the time to release a statement to the effect that it is not inclined to become involved in the setting-up of these various centres of incarceration. I would take that sort of action as tacit disapproval of off-shore schemes....wouldn't you? Posted by Poirot, Friday, 2 September 2011 9:28:45 AM

Shadow Minister,
It's not "rubbish". His admission was made on Radio National on November 13th, 2009. There is a difference between stopping boats from arriving at this end by turning them around, and making the inference that they were stopped from ever leaving from the other end. That’s like saying you stopped drunken behaviour because you stopped drunks drinking in your pub, by leading them into the pub next door Posted by wobbles, Friday, 2 September 2011 10:57:25 AM

Bazz/ Rechtub open your mind fellas.
Having looked,at the views from both sides, it is clear. Truly clear, both sides thought it would get up. It may still. Now believe me, it still can get up, but it was the very same Law in place under John Howard. It truly was, a few, lawyers won, Australia lost. But it is true, Australians will have to see both sides combine or be made a laughing stock, by smugglers and cashed up refugees, jumping the Que in front of others. Do not be blinded by the Motherhood statements of the left/greens political party's exist to serve majority's. Posted by Belly, Friday, 2 September 2011 12:11:57 PM
