Problem is, OUG, as far as I am concerned, there is no god, so there is no god to either hate or love. There is nothing there, no gods all the way up or turtles all the way down.

To get back to topic, my rough survey of maximums and minimums for the past decade, shows that today, July 23, across the eight capital cities, over the past sixteen decades, as follows:

Highest maximums ever: three
Lowest minimums ever: one
Net in favour of max maxs: two

Earlier in the week, the balance seemed to be pretty even - one max max and one min min one day, two max maxs and one min min another day, and one max max and two min mins the next. On the whole, there seems to be a net three or four highest maximums ever during the last decade, each week, out of six (days) x eight (capitals) = 48 readings per week, or one in ten or twelve day-capitals.

So, yes, there is some sort of global warming going on, but hardly uniform or catastrophic. Plant a few million trees a year and that should suck a bit of CO2 out of the atmosphere. Plant, say, ten million trees per year for fifty years, and (at a thousand trees per hectare) that might take up only 500,000 sq km, but might suck fifty million tonnes of CO2 out of the atmosphere annually. Any takers ?

I hate to be the bearer of good news, but is it possible that AGW can be controlled with initiatives such as this (if it ever gets going) ? I can see the point of wishing for disasters ('they'll be sorry !') but am more interested in what to do about them than sitting back, blaming the oldies, and wetting myself.
