We've been down this road before.

http://www.abc.net.au/btn/story/s2364687.htm

And I'm sure we'll go down it again.

Calling it a "hoodie ban" is a mistake. As is the term "burka ban".

Put them in the one single category, along with bike helmets etc. as "inappropriate face-covering in a security area", and describe it to the world as a straightforward security measure. Singling out teenagers or Muslim women distorts what is a simple issue into a form of personal attack.

When will we learn.

So I should't be allowed to wear my hoodie, Hasbeen? Perhaps I should return it to the shop where I bought it... Better still, ban them from selling them!

On second thoughts, I'll wear my hoodie because it's an eminently sensible garment to wear in this weather (currently 10 degrees and blowing a gale). Of course I'll put the hood down when I'm in the supermarket or bank, and I shall ignore entirely the paranoid delusions of people who want to dictate what I wear, or whose attitudes to others are proudly based on stereotypes.

And yes, I've started many books and given up on them after a chapter or two. However, I've read many, many more in their entirety. Believe it or not, many of those books contained information and insights that I hadn't thought of before!

If Pericles you wish to infer racism every time you get a chance do so.
I actually agree with Morgonzola, common sense demands we not say they should not be sold/bought/or used.
But they are what they are, as well as a useful item of clothing they hide very well face, weapons and shop lifters goods.
Frankly, you seem blind to the people, hearts beating in fear, who work in banks and places subject to hold ups even murders .
I am strongly for their rights and as for your Muslim wearers of full face clothing , obey our laws.
So I plead guilty to your version of racism.

Morganz if you want to come that, "the shop sold it" bit, you had better get used to my next door neighbour smoking in the supermarket. It is the same argument he uses when complaining about restrictions on him, & his cigarettes.

Mate, please wear what you like. It does make it easier to slip you into the correct pigeonhole, with out too much effort.

I understand that the shops in question are privately owned.
In that case, unlike in public places, there is nothing wrong with the owners dictating their conditions for entry.
Don't like it - don't shop there.

Hasbeen, if you can't see how silly your argument is, nothing I could say can help you.

I'm surprised actually, I thought you were reasonably intelligent. Not to mention polite - your attempts to be snide demean you. Surely you can debate a subject like this without getting personally insulting?

I can only conclude that there is something else going on here. Have you personally been attacked by someone wearing a hoodie or something?
