Most people haven't heard of this man. But all have been effected by him or his work.

He is the father of public relations and propoganda.

Active in the 1920s and after, Bernays used his Uncle Sigmund Freud's insights into the subconscious to re-shape many aspects of society.
His primary method was to identify 'deep seated felt need' and apply this to changing opinion.

He wrote a book titled "Crystalizing Public Opinion" which was purchased by Joseph Goebbels, who used it to reshape German opinion toward Jews.. ironically Bernays(and Freud) are Jewish.

-"Bacon and Eggs for brekky" employed by the meat industry to help them sell more meat..

Edward Bernays showed American corporations how they could make people want things they didn't need - systematically linking mass produced goods to their unconscious desires. Bernay's was one of the main architects of the modern techniques of mass consumer persuasion - using every trick in the book (persuading women to smoke by convincing them that cigarettes were a symbol of independence and freedom - "you've come a long way baby"),from celebrity endorsement and outrageous PR to eroticising the motor car, the list goes on. Manipulating people - that's what big business does best. "Greed is Good!" afterall - just ask Wall Street.

Of course spin, PR and propaganda are present in modern life. They are the tools of marketing, politics and social engineering. The smarter person would assess and process information and make their own choices. Sure we are all victims of marketing even if we hesitate to admit it.

However, you are hinting at social engineering around homosexuality, you are missing your own point about the vast amount of (mainly religious) social conditioning, PR and propaganda that gives rise to bigotry and discrimination. It was once thought the earth was flat and that women were chattels of men. History shows us that as peoples and societies become civilsed, they also become more human, less divisive and slowly more empathetic and inclusive.

The best weapons we humans have against the constant wave of overt and covert 'spin' is our own brains, compassion and empathy for others. That has always been the case.

You must have missed out the part where you connect the work of Bernays with the comedienne, entertainer and showbusiness personality, Roseanne Barr. Or do you just assume that because she too is Jewish, she think in the same way that he did?

Has she actually read Bernays, to your knowledge??

If the link is neither her Jewish ancestry nor her reading habits, then you must assume that Bernays is being channelled involuntarily - his influence reaches people mystically through the airwaves, or by ectoplasmic osmosis, or - maybe - simply by breathing the same air?

In which case there is an easy test: would you have answered that question in the same way?

If not - and don't forget that you fulfil the same requirements as Roseanne Barr, not being Jewish, breathing the same air etc. - then your case is categorically denied. She cannot - as you cannot - be influenced by Bernays.

Here's another thought. Have you read Bernays? If you have, and you would not answer as Ms Barr did, then clearly Bernays is not the influence you suspect him to be.

Of course, if you haven't, and still answer differently to Ms Barr, then not reading Bernays has a similar non-effect.

All of which leads me to ask... what exactly are you insinuating here?
