It's not just the abuse of animals that's the problem - what about the abuse of vegetables, like boiling carrots and stuff like that? I used to be a breatharian until I started fretting about my inexcusable exploitation of all that innocent oxygen. Fancy having to go through respiration and ripping reduction all to satisfy unworthy me! Oh why was I ever born? Why can't all mankind just die - surely that would make for a bette world? Whatever will happen to the "the planet"? Oh sinful me, let me mortify my body for the good of my soul with the purging lash!

Since when has it been necessary for us to be "beneficial" to the world?

For millennia, we have been kicking and screaming and fighting for survival against world that resisted every step of the way, malevolent and unrelenting.

We had to learn to defend ourselves against all forms of animal predator, on land, in the air and under water. Protect our families from flood, earthquake, volcanoes, tsunamis, meteors, squeezing an existence from the land and learning to feed ourselves from whatever was available.

Now you want us to slink apologetically away, just because a few sleazebags treat animals badly?

Are you aware that humans have a habit of treating each other badly too?

I am aware of the horrifying acts men commit upon each other and I am equally disgusted in it. Unfortunately I didn't have the time to attach links to genocide and napalm effects. I can't see how the fact that I didn't do that warrants your displeased response.
