*BECK is NOT on about 're-elect the Republican Party'*
Yup, Beck admits its not about politics, its about entertainment. Its a great way to make lots of money on US TV. Make outrageous claims, sound plausible, suck in the gullible, they tune in by their millions and you make millions. Rupert cashes in big time too. The same principle works for the tv evangelists, the industry is worth hundreds of millions of $. Even Sarah Palin is paid 100k$ for a speech, so she is on the bandwagon too. And dear old Boazy falls for the lot. Frankly I find the Daily Show far more entertaining and at least we know its comedy. But like my wise old uncle used to say, for every fool that dies, another 10 are born. Very true. Posted by Yabby, Sunday, 8 August 2010 4:38:52 PM

Boazy, some balance please.
In saying I and Hazza are uniformed you over estimate your own understanding. And some how you must grasp the fact no one is always right, on this occasion you are quite wrong. The right in America is showing every thing from racial hatred to a belief only America matters. I long ago, knew anything your hero's in this thread say or do is questionable. I am not surprised that you hold this madman Glen Beck up as the saviour of white, Christian Americans (and then the world!), AGIR.
I looked him up and see that he works as a shock jock in America, and is under the delusion that he is going to restore America to it's 'former glory'. I assume he means a predominantly white, Christian society, and not back to the days when American native Indians lived in peace on their own land? I found a couple of Glen Beck's quotes: ''Because if you are a white human that loves America and happens to be a Christian, forget about it, Jack.'' —Glenn Beck, whining about how everyone hates him, April 2, 2007. ''This president I think has exposed himself over and over again as a guy who has a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture....I'm not saying he doesn't like white people, I'm saying he has a problem. This guy is, I believe, a racist.'' —Glenn Beck, on President Obama, sparking an advertiser exodus from his FOX News show, July 28, 2009." http://politicalhumor.about.com/library/bl-glenn-beck-quotes.htm?PS=98:37 Oh yes Al, I can see now why you are so in love with this guy. He is your kindred spirit! Posted by suzeonline, Sunday, 8 August 2010 6:21:57 PM

It's interesting that someone like Glenn Beck would see no effrontery in using the anniversary of King's famous speech to pitch his message.

Talking of Jefferson, I found this piece of advice written by him to his nephew, Peter Carr:
"Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly secured in her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of God; because,if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear."
