On that day, which happens to also be the anniversary of Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech .. there will be a massive rally at the same place...

The driving force behind this rally titled "Restoring Honour" is Glenn Beck. He, and various others are working hard to make it a day of restorating of the America which once was.

For the skeptics and cynics.. like Keith Olbermann of MSNBC who mocks Beck with "King said I have a dream, Beck says I have a SCHEME"... one of the supportive participating speakers is..non other than Dr Alveda King, niece of Dr Martin Luther King.

Sarah Palin will also participate, and others who I don't know.

The possibility of problems is huge, with the Left hysterical, frantic and only coping by virtue of serious tranquilizing medication.

My feeling is...that on this day, America will begin to restore it's greatness, or, it will begin the slide into an abyss from that will consume all of us over time.

I did notice the token King. However, Dr Alveda King is not Dr Martin Luther King.
She has an M.A. in business studies from Central Michigan University and an "honourary" doctorate from Saint Anslem College in New Hampshire. This college is very politically orientated and has held many debates and events during elections in the past. It served as Primary headquarters for Fox News Network during the 2004 presidential election and received national media attention from Fox News Channel in 2006. According to Wikipedia, Dr Aveda King is also an anti-abortion activist and is a senior fellow with the Alexis de Tocqville Institution.

I had a look on Wikipedia at some of the writings of Alexis de Tocqeville (noting that Dr Alveda King is a senior fellow of the Alexis de Tocqeville Institution) and because I was unfamiliar with his philosophy.
I noted a couple of pieces that seem to be connected with Beck's theme - from Wiki a few quotes from his writings:
"But one also finds in the human heart a depraved taste for equality, which impels the weak to want to bring the strong down to their level, and which reduces men to preferring equality in servitude to inequality in freedom."
and:
"Furthermore, when citizens are all almost equal, it becomes difficult for them to defend their independence against agressions of power..."

The source on Wiki also remarked the Torcqeville explicitly cites inequality as being incentive for poor to become rich.

I realise these quotes are cherry-picked and may be out of context to his overall philosophy. Do you know anything about this social philosopher and how/if he ties in with the current movement?
