Our national security was never relinquished to UN and I for one would be happy if we were to deregister from that particular Club. The system of assessment is performed by an incompetent, non-judicial authority whose legal terms of reference and inquiry are wholly inadequate pursuant to our international obligations and whether legitimate or not, all of the ASYLUM SEEKERS are locked up in contravention of our international obligations, in some cases for years and years.

The first thing you need to understand is that refugee status
ends when the person reaches the first country of safety.
To reach Australia they must have passed through at least two countries of safety.
Also the reason most of them do not have documentation such as passports
is that the smugglers instruct them to throw them overboard as soon aa
they leave Indonesia. That they reached Indonesia is proof that they
had documentation as they could not have boarded an aircraft without it.
That is the first criminal act that they commit.
The second is to refuse to identify their country of origin.
They do this because the authorities cannot deport them if they do not
know where they came from. That is another reason they languish in
detention.
