Foxy you are pointing out DoCS failings which no one has ever denied. I don’t think we can agree to disagree when we are having two separate discussions.

Whoever pays their foster parents more becomes mute. Who is monitoring the foster parents is quite the opposite and no one is questioning why there is a belief that privatizing something means an improvement in the minds of the public.

Further add that to the fact that these NGO’s will and already do play a major role in Early Intervention. This is a huge conflict of interest.

What is going to happen and has been happening is children being forgotten after being placed one more step away from the department that is supposed to be responsible for the children it bought in to care to begin with.

The NGO caregivers with children in their homes that never need communicate with DoCS caseworkers – the ones that do have ultimate responsibility for these children.

So we have a department failing and the suggested “fix” that has nothing to do with caring for and protecting the children in short and long term care. The Recommendation will, I believe, I know, I have seen, damage children more while allowing the tax payer to contribute much more for the privilege.

It does matter that the caseworkers care and are allowed to continue to manage their own clients once they have been brought in to care. You are grabbing quotes (from Kiwis?) about child abuse in NSW while I am concerned for the changes recommended after a child enters this system in either a short term or long term placement.

Why does it really matter that they care? Because this is not a “product” we are discussing or “stats” these are real little flesh and blood children who will be lost through privatisation and making it possible for huge profits to be made from them.

Bruce Barbour – do you know what he does with complaints against DoCS? A caseworker explained briefly to me “unless a child dies complaints are passed back for DoCS to handle internally”.

“kids are worth fighting over..[let other's fight over money]
your doing it for love..[but realise the only reason many others are doing it..is for the cash]...3 full-time kids =[plus 1000?]..better than baby sitting for pennies right”

Gotchya (in theory) OUG.

But I can work for an NGO and get paid more, more toys, clothes, life is good while they are here. My neighbor does the same but life is not good. DoCS never come to investigate because that is the responsibility of my neighbours particular NGO.

They wont go look too hard because besides the money they pass on to their foster parents there is all the money DoCS give them per child for their offices, mobile phones, company cars, super schemes etc etc.

I can’t just love the ones I have when I can’t make people see what is happening/will happen to the other foster children in the system.

I am terrified for them.

Hey Belly,

I know, been in a few situations myself with DoCS and it is all heart breaking and something needed to happen.

Lots of stories where kids went from bad to worse with DoCS intervention, or lack thereof.

I think though that the public in general have this kind of mental image of what privatising things means. I think they start visualizing big bright and shiney office blocks and super efficient staff zipping about in hugo boss suits.

And yes I think this will happen… but I think I also know where the kids will be and that will be so far behind the scenes that you’ll need hubble to find them.

its interesting..that the cash is now found..to fund from the ground up private facilities..ngo's..[what seems curious is that docs is still retained...lol..[talk about duplication..[but its worth remembering these new ngo's wont have any of the oppresive paperwork/reporting..docs has...

no wonder its the cure..[the recomendation could just as easilly have stated less paper work/reporting..[..and more cash[wages]..about what the private ngo's are going to do..

ie be less accountable..on the theory private gets more pivate trust to just get on with the job..yet as private contracors..they get more public money

properly funding docs...[and lightening up on the constant need to report..might have seen docs properly do its job...[but that wasnt ever the plan..[the plan was to get the kids into their privatised franchise..[and reap in the govt cash/contract to the boys club..that ensured docs would fail]

alex jones had a bit to say about the kids thing..on his sunday show[suprise suprise..those who abduct kids from their parents are actually paid more for scoring a blue eyed kid's..[for the pedophiles running usa child-SERVICEs]..than the hispanics]

he mentioned that the deliberate policy..we see that sees single parents,..naturally sets people up to fail...[alex nearly had his child taken..[how it gets done is the docs equivelent asks the parent[wife]..is hubby beats her..[or if there is any trouble at home..[while the hubby is sent from the room to file some birth/papers...

so i guess they ask kids pretty much the same leading questions..its a growth industry..[i heard the complaints foxey spoke of alex made a point that..every time he reads mother injured the kids in the papers[nearly allways..it turns out to be a fostermum...foster father..[ie not biological caregiver..in the fine print of the story]

anyhow the love of children..[pediphilia goes back throughout time[they have just gotten more organised..at getting at kids these perverts need to abuse...

clearly they set up docs to fail..[but have enough pull to pull off the next part of the scam...and thus their boys running the ngo's

why no equal reporting conditions on these ngo's..[think about that]

why more money for less reporting/accountability...for the same job?

Jewely please do not think we, most of us, do not share your concerns.
We do, I do, that is why I am opposed to DOC,s. forever.
No easy thing, to in any way be opposed to a system run by government, that sees privatisation as answer.
But we must have answers.
Nothing less will do.
I can caste some light into government departments, well lets be open my old workplace.
The NSW RTA is a mixture of the very best people, have no doubt this is true.
And the very worst.
It the only place I ever saw the best man taken from his job, as a reward, and put in a position he was useless in.
While being replaced in his old job by the very worst performer in the world.
Fathers hand on jobs like formen to sons.
selection more based on who is related to who ,not talent.
My views are tainted, I have seen senior ,very senior staff take redundancys.
Fail in private enterprise, then, after taking the money come back on contract thank you to home, the RTA, A safe haven for managment failure.
Safe in the understanding failed leadership always blames the workers.
We need a new way, a better way to reduce the red tape, get rid of dead end white washing mangement.
We have failed for over 100 years in child care, never ever will I agree to breath life into DOC,s

A Rose is a Rose Belly. Privatising this industry will not work; we can Only have a government department doing this job. It cannot be any industry that can profit from it.

Right now and with what I personally/locally am experiencing through DoCS management, I would happily see it dismantled. From what I have read online from some mums and dads out there I would probably like every state to follow suit.

But this investigating and going to court to have children removed etc will not be leaving DoCS hands as far as I could make out in the recommendations. So DoCS is still there Belly.

My concern is after the children are placed.

Right now through DoCS carers and NGO carers children get abused. We cannot have a Privatised Foster Care System and then the same private companies running Early Intervention. Cultures build up, things become "expected" within companies.

What I didn’t see in the Woods Report was any acknowledgment of how children are placed. Just anyone with their hands up can have kids placed with them for up to 18 years. No one asks what family might suit them or what sort of children they are. Something else I have experienced.

But they do pay for big studies to be done on why placements breakdown and why children get moved multiple times while not doing well at school and in society. I’d suggest it is because no one cared enough to ask a few questions from the people that knew them beforehand.

I can see this getting worse with multiple files being kept by multiple agencies by multiple caseworkers, more children buried and forgotten under even more paper work.
