Your new name brings back memorys.
In my wild young days we had a hit song I am the pied piper. It was my groups theme, I had it painted on the side of my van. good news and not a suprise to us,we knew you would do nothing wrong . But we have to face facts DOC,s has form for hurting the innocents. Unions? big subject so keep it short, we are bound by laws not yet removed, in fact some of the came from my party in the 1990,s. Some are about to be imposed by this federal government. I love them . But. Well maybe they think like me after all. I see a different future for unions than the past. Less extremist more and closer servicing, get back to the roots of the movement. Your case proves unions have a roll to play. We do have payroll deductions all unions do. But some see no need to contribute, until they need help. Back to the kids, while I fight forever to stop needless privatisation Children are not to be used as pawns, the best and only the best is good enough private or government. “I see a different future for unions than the past. Less extremist more and closer servicing, get back to the roots of the movement.
Your case proves unions have a roll to play.” Sad aye but yes looks like volunteers do need a Union. I would prefer what I do to be work, with rights, a contract, taxes, union deductions, and all. I am pretty sure the deductions were mandatory in NZ back then. “Back to the kids, while I fight forever to stop needless privatisation Children are not to be used as pawns, the best and only the best is good enough private or government.” That’s what the problem is though… it is who makes the money that will develop in to who doesn’t look too hard for problems. I really think the children are safer with the government. But the government still needed to fix DoCS. The expense is going to be huge. Children will suffer. And I am still waiting to hear back from NSW Children’s Guardian about this whole accreditation thing they do. I am asking what it takes to have accreditation withdrawn. They have a very nice website. When I wrote to them a few months ago and said some children were in trouble and needed help they told me to take it to the ombudsman because they don’t do anything for individual children. So in what way do they do the following? http://www.kidsguardian.nsw.gov.au “Under the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998, the Children's Guardian's functions are to: • promote the best interests of all children and young persons in out-of-home care, • ensure the rights of all children and young persons in out-of-home care are safeguarded and promoted, • accredit designated agencies and to monitor their responsibilities under the Act and the regulations. “ Posted by The Pied Piper, Sunday, 21 June 2009 6:06:41 PM

"The Children's Guardian is responsible for promoting the best interests and rights of children and young people in out-of-home care.
We work to improve out-of-home care for children and young people in NSW. To do this, the Children's Guardian works with children and young people, their families and carers, government agencies and community-based organisations. The Office for Children, the Children's Guardian is an independent organisation that reports directly to the Minister for Community Services. The Children's Guardian can make special reports to Parliament and to the Minister." More from the Children's Guardian Site. This seems to boil down to "we can make reports". Nice that they are "special" ones though. I know of no foster carers that have even been contacted by this agency and they do not take compaints about children in distress. Now how do I get them to listen to you OUG? Oh and I stole this from the thread about Mr Ward, different situation but same problem I think. RobP: "I'd also add that this is what you get when Governments privatise services they really should be doing themselves. There is a role for the private sector, but there are always things that Governments do better and should take responsibility for." Posted by The Pied Piper, Monday, 22 June 2009 2:00:45 PM

Maybe I can condense down my concerns that all departments that have humans as a “product” like police, DoCS, Prisons, Welfare etc should never be allowed to be kept away from being the total responsibility of the government?
Hey I forgot to mention that late yesterday I found out that the allegation against me had been closed and I am innocent. I think I told them that to begin with. But now I can get on and concentrate better on the kids. Maybe it is the Children’s Guardian I need to approach because even NGO’s that are continually in the news with stories of abused children within their ranks are still left with their accreditation.
Maybe The Children’s Guardian needs to be the one that steps up and does better. If I find out they charge the NGO’s to be accredited I am going to scream.
I remember Union fees being deducted automatically from my wages in NZ. Don’t they do that here? Actually I wouldn’t even know if they still do it in NZ.
