Examinator, I believe you have summed up many aspects of the situation well, and I admit and admire your grasp on the overall recent and current geopolitical situation, however I feel you must have missed quite a bit of "ancient" Jewish history, and that has everything to do with the basic mind-set of the Israeli's, religious or not.
I see it nowadays as a relatively simple question, to any culture, society, nation, or wanna-be free people, "Who's pulling the trigger... TODAY"?
There are endless good reasons for an armed up-rising against various forms of rule, but that is not what's happening. When the rockets stop flying, and the bombers stay home, then maybe there'll be a chance of a hope of some sort of acceptable future.

The war between Iran and Iraq was more than two petty dictators fighting for supremacy it was also racial, cultural and all stirred up by patriotism.

The Arabic world isn't a homoeogenous lump. In the middle you have a number of races. Kurds, Persians et sec. rich, poor millennium old traditions etc.
All conveniently ignored by the west. Its a bit like the French, Brits, Basks etc.
Imagine all these if poverty, cultural, power shifts, unemployable graduates were their reality.

To me this all adds up to that the Jewish claim on Palestine is no more valid than the 'Arab' inhabitants. One could say perhaps less. However I think they have a right to exist in peace as do the 'Arabs'. The trick is how to facilitate it.
