PS: what Ive learned from several years on OLO is that many Australians are defeatists when it comes to asia.
We dont ever give into pagan nations that slaughter even their own people... and make deals with them. We do proper Defence and stand against them at all times, Bible in hand. Thats where the blessings are. We dont ever give into China or Indonesia. Whilst they build in secret we do likewise. The yanks wont help either. Posted by Gibo, Sunday, 11 January 2009 7:27:59 PM

Somehow I don't think that the overseas owners of most of Australia will be quietly sitting back and letting the "yellow hordes" sweep in and take all their assets. They could just sell them to the highest bidder.
Australia wasn't actually the primary target of the Bali atrocity, it was the American military specifically and Westerners generally. The only local terrorist act I can recall in modern times was the Hilton Bombing 30 years ago and that was intended for visiting overseas politicians. The attacks in Bali made it clear
that we could be a target of a major terrorist incident. However, from what I gather the Australian Federal Police works with representatives of the Australian Government and State and Territories on the National Counter-Terrorism Committee (NCTC), which was established in 2002. I won't go into any more detail here, but if anyone wants to know what the role of the NCTC is, et cetera you can read the complete article, "Fighting terrorism in Australia," at: http://www.afp.gov.au/national/fighting_terrorism.html Posted by Foxy, Sunday, 11 January 2009 9:11:07 PM

I do not think Gibo many would bother replying to those two posts yet I will.
Unlike your slavish commitment to your God, my commitment to unionism is not without fault finding. You say it is a religion? surely you understand it is no such thing? Once far more than now workers, even children, nearly belonged to bosses. Our lifestyle has evolved with hard won workers rights. Without the trade union movement we may still be slaves Sir Robert Menzies openly spoke of the need for trade unions, and wages fairness. Today no less than the very birth of unions we must watch and be aware, workers rights went back 50 years under workchoices, who ever thought that could happen? You seem to understand England's sins of yesterday, the footprints of colonial Britain can be found in todays trouble spots. You however fail to understand the numbers we would face from those you fear. You would never start a thread such as 33% wage rise to question so many in your movement. Maybe you should spend some time questioning your beliefs, we can end most wars if we stop claiming some humans are not as good as us in the name of fantasy Gods. It would be interesting Belly if the last three Labor Prime Ministers were taken to a quiet room somewhere and injected with truth serum and a recording made of what was said.
I wonder if one or more of the three might admit to a Chinese or Soviet handler? It seems very strange to me that Labor, being so vocal and caring for the ordinary man and woman, for worker and the for the unionist, should allow Defence to run down to such levels as all three did when they were in office? And whats young Kevin Rudds connection to China? What do we owe the Chinese? Nothing...but to protect ourselves from them and their plans. Posted by Gibo, Monday, 12 January 2009 8:02:42 PM

1.
It wouldnt have been enough?
It takes committment to support a country.
More than we ever put into it as Australians.
I dont think we were all that equiped to look after our own country because of our very nature.
"She'll be right, mate" has killed our chances.
Governments forgot about the anti-Bible nations to the north to watch cricket and footy and ave a beer, mate and squabble amongst themselves and dilly-dallied with true defence. The people followed.
Click on Nanking for a view of wonderful asia.
Labor did little on the subject of improving Defence.
I say they blocked Defence and weakened the nation (deliberately...maybe)
They were always (and still are in the background) sniffing around that old communism thing.
2.
What do either of us really know about China's involvment with terrorism.
One thing I do know is that China hasnt forgotten the Opium Wars and the shame the Brits put on her.
Chinas grudges are very long.
Look deep in behind the scenes and she will be behind the western drug problem somewhere, as is her bride to be North Korea.
If she can weaken western youth...the world will one day be hers.
Your passion for Labor is as strong a religion as Ive seen here on OLO.
Some worship God as He wants us too through Jesus, the Saviour.
Some worship union movements (and an old red thing) that once were but died... and just cant be let go of it.
