Belly.

There is an old Chinese proverb I have always found intriguing.

"With our minds we create the world".

I believe there is substance to this!

But without hard evidence, all they are is just stories.

Each one of us are on our own a journey, so please choose your path carefully. Maybe your friends trauma is playing out in his mind, but I am sure its nothing more.

The human brain is still not fully understood as yet, and like the thoughts of early man, very little has changed.

Dear Belly and Evo,

I've just remembered a story my mum used
to tell. It happened during the war in
Germany. Now I may not remember all the facts,
but as I recall, mum said there was this
small village in Bavaria where this woman
by the surname of Neumann was considered a
"holy woman." She suffered from stigmata.

Every Easter, the woman would start
bleeding in the same areas as the crucified
Christ (hands, feet, side, et cetera). She
would be bedridden during this time. And,
after Easter, the bleeding would miraculously
stop.

There would be huge lines of people outside
her small cottage waiting to go in and see
this spectacle for themselves. Mum was one of
them. Mum said it was amazing how people who
were so skeptical outside the cottage,
would come out pale as ghosts. Mum found the
entire experience very moving.

No one could explain why this happened.

People just accepted it.

EVO I share your view it very well maybe his brain doing things we do not yet understand.
Such trauma changes us all.
I will not go into full details so as not to open family wounds but he in one month saw 4 horrible smashes kill 9 people.
We stood together in the dark waiting for the body's to be removed to start cleaning up the scene.
He was not the only victim not in the smash.
One of my crew left his very long term job just weeks before redundancy pay was offered no longer able to do it.
One thing is true, at one trauma site even now I and many others feel a presents we can not explain.
Just after arriving at such a site some feel such presents and may wait months to talk of it.

EVO...

As some of you may know, I'm a retired copper and in the last two or so years of my service, I was an assistant Coroner's Officer, situated at the city mortuary.

Our Mortuary accommodated the needs of a city with an average population of 370,000 (+ or -). Therefore, it was not necessary to man the place 24/7, rather the 'case officer' responsible for handling the death would simply lodge the body in the mortuary, with the assistance of the 'on call' contractors (who also generally conducted the 'transfer' from the site of the death to the Mortuary). At the time of lodgement, the case officer was required to complete the necessary paperwork, search, record all property et al.

I was always called out, in order to arrange the PM, amongst other things, and I was required to be present during ALL PM's to record the Doc's 'cause of death' etc. In the case of a suspicious death (murder ?), many other duties were undertaken and in a generally much quicker time frame too.

Anyway, to cut this long dreary tale short, and getting to the point, I was required to open and close the place and at all times of the day and night...mostly alone !

In the ENTIRE time I was doing the job, I've never ever experienced ANYTHING that could be described as extraordinary or supernatural !

I was often required to wheel the gurney in and out of the main 'fridge, prepare bodies for 'transfer' by the Funeral blokes, affix appropriate tag/s often before the arrival of others, including the case officer (a police member), morgue attendants, pathologists, or the NOK.

Of course we all know that most buildings make sounds. Air-conditioning, expansion and contraction of building material etc. etc. BUT there is absolutely NOTHING about the dead that should concern anybody at all ! The dead ARE dead. In fact, on a personal note, ever since I've worked there, I've changed from a very confused AGNOSTIC to 'a born again' ATHEIST ! The dead ARE absolutely dead. Of that, you can be assured.

o sung wu. Its pretty obvious I'm on a path for new discoveries, and going over old grounds just to make sure I haven't missed anything, a double check you might say.
But one of the questions I asked was, can belief be that strong, that it can produce images or ghosts as the case may be?

I my self, am in full agreement with you! DEAD IS DEAD! I am quite happy with that, but what is all these other people seeing and "why" they are seeing them has got my insatiable curiosity going.(some would say I have too much time on my hands) so I may as well use it to find a few answers.
On the subject of death, my wife many years ago, had a miscarriage and my first born daughter died in my arm's, miles away from anywhere.
You could image the horror we when though, and we just had to sit there and watch her die. There was nothing we could do. (seven months old) I will save you all the graphic details. When she got out of the hospital, back at home, our other three old girl was talking to something on the kitchen sink. We asked, what is it darling! and she replied, "look" buba! We couldn't see a dam thing! and for three days she kept on with this and then it stopped, then she carried on with her little life like nothing happened. You go figure! I am completely lost for a explanation, other than the one I put above.

A friend of mine related this experience:

He works in a large heritage building.
It has old weathered sandstone walls, perpetually dark corners, gargoyle sentries.Though old, the building has the latest high tech accessories, including power savers that shut down lighting in unused sectors.

One night he was working back late.
There was no one else around and hadn’t been for quite some time.
And as a result, all of the building except his sector was in darkness.

At some point he needed to visit the toilet.
Access is via a long narrow corridor, barely wide enough for two to pass.As he approached the toilet door, it drew open, and an arm reached out towards him.

Startled, he stepped back to allow whoever was to exit –but no one came forth. The hand just seemed to hang there, flexing like branch in the breeze.A moment later, the lights cut out.

He retreated to foyer where the sensor was located to re-activate the power.

Now, no one had passed him, and there were no other exits.
Yet, when he returned to the now lighted toilets –there was no body there.
