Foxy good thread
A few years ago we had one close too it. It had some interesting story's some from me. I could tell of a few but one is close to yours. My current house lived before. It was moved from inner Sydney and rebuilt in a country town. I bought it as first owner in its new spot. Every overnight guest says it is haunted. It may well be, I have no explanation for the opening doors or voices in this big home. And none for the one that woke me mid winter as the air in a locked room ran out after the gas fire had been alight for a very long time. Some seem to be more able to hear and see things than others but some of my visitors will not sleep in that room. Posted by Belly, Sunday, 24 August 2008 4:09:54 PM

Dear Belly,
Thanks for sharing your experience. The other one that I remember so well, took place at a school fund-raising evening, that was held in the very imposing Raheen Estate in Kew, Victoria. Now owned by the Pratt family. We were given a tour of the old building, and when my husband and I wondered into one of the room upstairs, we felt a sudden "atmosphere." The room had a very strong smell of lavender, and was so cold, it felt like antarctica. We were only to happy to leave the room. I felt very uncomfortable in it. Later, we were told that Archbishop Mannix had died in that room, and apparently his "presence" still lingers. We learned that the Raheen Estate used to belong to the Catholic Archdiocese and had been the home of Mannix for many, many years. They sold it after his death. It was odd that the figure in our old house didn't frighten me. Whereas this room in the Raheen Estate did. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. Posted by Foxy, Sunday, 24 August 2008 5:44:48 PM

This makes a nice change Foxy.
I don't have a ghost story as such but a very odd experience. When I was about 15 we were travelling through Tassie when I had the strongest feeling of having been in a particular part of Hobart before despite this being our first ever trip to the Apple Isle. We had come over a rise in the road to look down towards an older part of the inner city and it hit me quite strongly - the familiarity of the surrounds and the feeling of being very comfortable and almost 'at home'. I said something to my family and we kind of laughed it off. Years later my grandfather researched our family tree and one of our illustrious relatives was a convict who came out for stealing something suitably insignificant. This gentleman subsequently left the prison and commenced a life in Tassie. We have no relatives living in Tassie now and I think even this ancestor moved eventually to the mainland. Once learning of this Hobart connection I immediately remembered that feeling of dejavu - it was unbelievably strong and quite eerie. Perhaps we do carry some kind of 'genetic memory' or spirt of our ancestors. Posted by pelican, Sunday, 24 August 2008 6:55:14 PM

Fascinating thread Foxy. Of course you're aware that there's a huge literature about this subject.
As a former anthropologist, I have lived and worked with people who regard ghosts as commonplace members of the social landscape. Many people in that tribal world more or less assume that some places are inhabited by ghosts of ancestors, who are often (but not always) thought to be malevolent. Additionally, I once had a Christian missionary describe to me in the PNG highlands an encounter with apparitions that he could only explain as ghosts. Perhaps unsurprisingly, I never encountered a ghost during my various sojourns in PNG and elsewhere. However, my understanding of human perception and cognition is such that I think that people tend to see what they expect to see, which is of course the level at which culture shapes perception. Nonetheless, I remain willing to be convinced on the subject of ghosts :) Posted by CJ Morgan, Sunday, 24 August 2008 8:16:34 PM

Very clever foxy! (I don't know why creationist don't use this as a model for their debate). Anyway, I don't have a story on ghosts as such, but i have witnessed something far more frighting and very, very real.
Now! before I tell this story, I am a person that does not believe it unless i see it and so reality in most respects rules my domain. At the beginning, I just turned 18 years and a good friend to the family thought it was time for me to see a bit of the world and suggested a few months on the road to gain some mileage and experience. (I got mileage and experience alright) leaving from the city central railway, we randomly picked a train which eventually took us across the country side till we found ourselves at Albury train station. We had walked no further than thirty feet from the train station when a stranger offered us a lift to a suitable camping ground, when he suggested an old spot he used to go fishing at. Of course i was very apprehensive at first and my friend of much experience could see the suspicion growing on my face and he and the stranger had a little chuckle between themselves and Chris explained that it was my first time on the road, then the car stopped at a rusty old gate, and to my relief, the ride was over. We waved the stranger goodbye and marched across a cow paddock to where the horizon of the land fell away and the glorious Murray River greeted us with it's shimmering beauty. Continued. After camp was set up, the summer heat was so intense the order of the day was to plunge into the clear waters and explore our new wonder land.
As night fell, we built a fire under the twisted canopy of willows in full bloom with our backs to the water and sitting like primitive man gazing at the flickering fire. Talking away quietly, the hair on the backs of our necks and a sudden bolt of insecurity and fear ran down our spines and the funny thing is we both felt this at the same time. All of a sudden we turned to each other and started debating who was going to turn around first, then on the count of three we both turned around at the same time only to see a face peering from the water with the reddest of eyes you have ever seen. For two seconds we gazed in total petrifying fear at a half ape half man type of humanoid, which the water completely exploded with the splash of its arms and the creature escaped under the water into the darkness. There was no mistaking this creature, and the one advantage that I have over most people that claim to see or want to study it, I had thirty days of different experiences and several more face to face sightings. To cut a long story short, the one thing I don't understand is why it didnt kill us. After our great plans of becoming millionaires after we caught it, the other six face to face encounters from a distance of no more than thirty feet, and not to mention the final and last encounter (the straw that broke the camels back) Chris was so shaken up by the previous experiences, he got the bright idea to jump out of the tent with the intent of stabbing and subdueing it and many arguments broke out over long sleepless nights before he decided to do this. . The only way you can tell it was around was the fact that every living thing around went dead silent. As he left the tent there was an almighty splash and I thought Chris had ran a little to far and ran off straight into the water, but this wasn't the case. As I left, I saw Chris standing there with the knife at his feet and his face was totally lifeless and white. I tried shaking him and trying to get a word out of him but this was pointless, so I took the torch and shone it upon the water, and for twenty minutes I watched this thing in full glory as it swam up against the current, then dog paddling with just it's head above water as it swam to the other side and got up onto the bank, walked up to the drape of willow branches, and began just starring at us intently as we did on the other side with equal curiosity.
I am cutting the story very short, but for twenty minutes we did not break eye contact, and then I told Chris who had sort of come around, just to sit down and show we mean no harm to it. After that time went by it came out in it's full glory and showed itself as clear as day, then it just walked back into the water coming straight at us. Of course we panic-ed and proceeded to throw anything we could find in our reach. (there is a lot more of this story than i am telling) After that, the very next morning we were out of there and I have never been camping since. ps. Dont tell me evolution is not real, the missing link is still running around in the dark. My advice is, if anything like this happens to you on a camping trip, RUN! Coming from an old Romany line and having lived in a many different cultures, I have a plethora of "ghost" stories. But, having read Evo's tale, I have a "strange" tale too.
Travelling through Northern QLD in a faithfull old combie camper once, was too buggered by heat and driving to make it to the next town. So pulled off the road for some food and kip. My ex,(a very prosaic and grounded person) who had started to sort out wood for the fire suddenly came hurtling back, minus wood, jumped in the van and demanded we leave. I was starving and, as the only reason he could give was that he didn't like the place, wouldn't go without at least eating. He eventually insisted we just grab some bread and tinned stuff and stay inside. I agreed but drew the line at winding up the windows in a north Qld summer! So when I heard some heavy shuffling footsteps I yelled out "G'day" - before even realising we had passed no houses in hours and no car had drawn up. The ex - usually an extremely friendly guy - frantically started winding up windows. No-one answered, but the footsteps stopped. Next minute, with no preliminary scrambling noises, something very heavy landed on the roof - the dint stayed as long as we owned the vehicle. By now every hair on my body was standing up straight but when someone/thing started first knocking and then slamming on the roof both of our teeth started chattering. Mouth full of Spam and bread I yanked the column reverse and we shot out of the bush onto the road backwards. As I did a wheely (in a combie van!) the heavy thing on the roof disapeared and we didn't stop till the next town 120ks away! We never found out what it was but the people in town told us there was "somethin' funny" about that stretch of bush. A recluse? Big Foot? A Roo with a penchant for scaring people? Never found out. But the feeling we both got was absolutely terrifying. Posted by Romany, Monday, 25 August 2008 12:42:14 AM

Thanks for all your inputs so far.
I'm getting goose-bumps reading them. They're great! I've also got a few more. They're ones my husband experienced. At the age of fourteen my husband was on a scout camp some four hundred metres from a country cemetery. All scouts had to do guard-duty during the night. Twice, my husband was on duty during early dawn. On these two occasions, just before sun-rise, he heard voices in the distance, and looking across a field, a hundred metres away, he saw four or five figures, walking side by side towards him, and talking. He was surprised but assumed they were senior scouts returning from night games. When they came within fifty metres, the voices stopped, and the figures faded. He later found out there were no night games. The second incident occurred when my husband was twenty, cross-country hiking with three friends. Around midnight, on a moonlit night they decided to pitch their tent in a paddock, and settle down for the night. My husband was woken by the sound of heavy breathing and movement outside the tent. He woke up with his heart racing thinking the worst, woke his friends, and they carefully peaked outside the tent to witness dark apparitions surrounding them. Slowly the images became clearer, and they saw that the apparitions were cows, who presumably had come to be milked. They decided to pack up and move on. The cows followed them all the way across the paddock. Posted by Foxy, Monday, 25 August 2008 12:14:51 PM

I just remembered another one:
I was about fifeteen, and my older brother had befriended a neighbour's son a few houses from ours. The boy was a bit slow, but he had a lovely, gentle nature. Anyway, to make a long story short, the boy's parents came home from work one night, and found their son had hung himself in their garage. They later found out that the kid had been bullied and teased dreadfully at school. My brother was deeply shocked, we all were. Weeks later we learned that the family of that boy had put their house up for sale. It seems that they were being disturbed by something at night. They would clearly hear crying, moaning, and footsteps. Who knows, perhaps it could have been psychological? The strange thing was though, that the people who bought the house also sold it after a year. Posted by Foxy, Monday, 25 August 2008 7:33:17 PM

Hi Foxy- what a great topic. I want to share a story that I swear is absolutely true.
About 15 years ago I was at a friends place to catch up over a meal- there were 4 of us all together. After dinner someone suggested having a séance using a very basic-spur of the moment- home-made type oijui board. The oijui board was simply written on butchers’ paper with a small glass as the pointer. We sat there for ages but eventually the pointer on the board started spelling out words. We then started to communicate with a young lad- about 6 years old- who died as a result of the bomb on Hiroshima. The detail he provided was amazing- his stories were equally fascinating. We all took turns taking our fingers off the pointer and yet it continued to move. The whole experience was actually quite surreal however it was totally real. No mind-altering substances were involved. I was very unsettled for many months afterwards- mainly because I could not put this experience into any type of logical explanation. The only people I have been able to discuss this with are with the other 3 people in the room that night. It was truly bizarre and I know it sounds unbelievable - but I am now an open-minded believer of all things beyond the realm of this life as we know it Posted by TammyJo, Monday, 25 August 2008 9:43:54 PM

Dear Tammy Jo,
I've heard about ouiji boards. People have had all sorts of experiences with them. I'd love to go one a go, it would be fun to try, but like seances, I'm just not game enough. I know when my dad died suddenly of a massive coronary at the age of 52, I seriously wanted to contact a medium. My husband and I were overseas at the time, so I never go to say all the things I wanted to say to my father. I didn't have closure. But, in the end my husband persuaded me against it. Your experience fascinates me. Thanks for sharing it. Posted by Foxy, Monday, 25 August 2008 11:15:53 PM

We could fill pages, if we wished some are afraid to tell story's in such threads.
But if it is our brains telling us these story's we have much to learn. I believe something exists after death. Remember nurses will tell you we sometimes wait to die until a loved one arrives. My mother waited, but to add to the story's she seemed to come back. I lived in the home she had shared with me on my own. A big country home empty but never quite. Exactly one month after she died I was recalled to work. Not for a second depressed or even thinking of her my truck smashed and rolled at the very same time she died. I woke in hospital. after her voice called me. true every word brain or what? I have no answer. Posted by Belly, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 6:52:03 AM

Dear Belly,
There are too many things that we can't explain. And, as CJ said in his post on this thread, I too firmly believe there's something out there. I guess one day we may get the answers, But not just yet, I hope. :) Posted by Foxy, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 11:28:38 AM

Yes! it,s a case of seeing is believing in some cases. I had another friend who played around with those boards and his story was that, he was thrown around the room and is this tapping hell that the bible talks about or is there a more scientific explanation for this? Can belief be that strong? Can we actually generate those things from the mind?
Well I think the answer is yes! There are still forces we know nothing about. Yes your right there Belly! Mankind still has a long to go. EVO Posted by EVO, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 12:53:15 PM

More and more people are opening themselves to the spiritually realm these days via the occult, seances, oijui boards, star signs etc etc. Despite what the hard line secularist tell us we have a spiritual curiosity. Unfortunately because most reject the Holy Spirit( mainly because of the love of sin) they encounter demonic spirits instead. I have met a number of non believers (i.e. of the Risen Christ) who have told me of frightening spiritual experiences as a result of the occult.Thankfully the name and power of Christ by far supersedes any demonic counterfeit that many experience. You are totally deceived if you don't heed to the words of Jesus when it comes to the afterlife. Accept and follow Him and you will live forever, reject Him (normally due to self righteousness and pride) and you will be tormented eternally. Its your choice.

(The subconscious and the conscious realm's).
When we dream, we are entertained with all sorts of images, some nice some not so nice, and chemicals can play a roll in enhancing them. Look at the two half's and imagine there's a firewall separating. Some say the subconscious part of the mind is connected with parallel universes, and if this is true, when this firewall breaks down, all sort of strange and wonderful things starts to happen, and if this is the case, it just might explain a lot about human nature. You do get some people, that after the experience has passed, they cant remember nothing at all. Just some food for thought. EVO Posted by EVO, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 1:38:09 PM

Dear runner,
My grandfather (dad's father) was a religious man. But he didn't make a big thing of it. He actually talked to "spirits." That is, friends of his who had passed away. Dad used to tell us that grandad spoke to them constantly. That he could see them. No one thought this was odd. It was just grandad. I remember a story that dad told us once about grandad going out for an evening walk near the forest where they lived and not returning home. When the family and friends set out looking for him, they searched all through the night with no success. Finally, in the early hours of the morning they found grandad standing in a spot near a swamp. Dad was so relieved to find his father alive and well. He saw that if grandad had taken one more step, he would have fallen into quicksand and perished. When dad told grandad, "You're so lucky to have stood where you did." Grandad replied, "Luck had nothing to do with it. I couldn't move if I wanted to. Something was holding me to this spot. I was forced to stand where I was until the sun rose, and you found me." Dad never doubted what his father told him. And, I never doubted my father's version of events. Posted by Foxy, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 1:55:48 PM

I am not doubting that spirits exist (in fact the opposite). I worked with a man who spoke regularly to his (Spirit guide). Who these spirits are is what is open to debate. Many have experienced spirits and or lights when physically dying on operating tables. I recently met a man (total agnostic) who had an outer body experience when dying on the operating table. Jesus promised His followers the Holy Spirit. Opening oneself up to the spiritual realm without Christ is foolish and thwart with danger. There are very few people in the lunie bins who don't claim to have had spiritual encounters. Posted by runner, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 2:14:58 PM

While not questioning the Christians right to believe what they wish,it should be noted the Bible tells us to dead remain dead for the present.
The old house I once lived in, rared kids in, was not silent after mums death. It was full of the sounds I was used to, was it spirits? or my brain? No one can be sure I felt comfortable there always. Being a 4x4 deep bush camper I have heard even seen things that could be misinterpreted. But much of our understanding is incomplete, if we look deeper some things are quite normal. I have seen 4 grown men get out of the bush in pure fear after seeing trees broken ten feet above the ground and a large dead log pulled apart. All the work of hungry birds seeking grubs. I saw no need to stop the headlong rush to leave and to this day have not told them the Yowi had wings. Posted by Belly, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 4:17:48 PM

Runner, please do not refer to those with mental disorders in Mental Health Facilities as being in "lunie bins." It is very disrespectful to those suffering and is the type of language that perpetuates a negative stereotypical view of mental health patients. Oh, and just out of curiosity, what survey or research findings are you referring to when you made that sweeping generalization? I have another story. Many years ago whilst working as a nurse I was called to help a patient who had collapsed. She was in cardiac arrest- no pulse- no breathing. I summoned help and commenced CPR. I was doing CPR for about 8-10 minutes (felt like hours!) when the Intensive Care Team (ICT) arrived. The cardiac monitor confirmed asystole (flat-line- no cardiac activity) They defibriallated the patient a couple of times and managed to get the heart started again. The patient was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit. When she was roused some time later she commented to her care team that the nurse with the accent who worked on him sure swore like a trouper. I was over the moon that she survived- but a bit freaked out about what she saw and heard. She saw me run to grab a breathing mask and I was in fact swearing like a trouper. Thank goodness this did not become a ghost story per se. So there you go- another true story. Posted by TammyJo, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 5:15:57 PM

As I said in another post some will not tell the story they could in such a thread.
Tammy Joe however comes from a work background that could flood the pages. Nurses know things about death and some interesting story's exist. Think just for a second about her story. It shows proof the brain is working when the heart is not. I know, yes in my view know ghosts or something very much like we think of them exist. I admit maybe my brain is comforting me but it has done a good job if true. Posted by Belly, Thursday, 28 August 2008 6:48:55 AM

I've worked as a senior nurse for many years now, and I've seen many people die before my eyes. Some have been resuscitated. From my conversations with some of these people I've come to the conclusion that life after death is not just a theory, but a probability.

Maybe when a person dies, the essence that's left is released and depending on how strong the life force was, it reflects on how long it hangs around until the energy dissipates back into the universe.
Some say with that, the circle of life has been completed. The body goes back into the earth and the electrical side goes back into the nothingness. This could explain ghosts! My uncle who works as a morgue-person told us stories about bodies getting up and walking round or eyes moving and watching them and other strange event's if bodies were put on certain tables. The in-house rules of the hospital was, no-one! under any circumstances must use tables 1 and 4 was very strictly enforced. I would love to see an entity one day, but I guess we will all see it sooner or later when its our turn. Who knows! EVO Posted by EVO, Friday, 29 August 2008 12:30:52 AM

EVO your story is interesting and many such have been told.
On a lighter note we once gathered round the fire and told ghost story's. My dad believed in them totally yet he always ended the session with a blood chilling story of a pair of sheep herders and a lonely hut on a stormy night. Those who had never heard his tale shrank into corners as it progressed. Not until the last line and dad bursting into laughter did they know he was having them on. We could write a few books right here about Aussie ghost story's, I note in another thread it is claimed I show a softer side by posting here. Right or wrong I like others believe we do not yet understand every thing. I like others am not surprised many including me believe in what we call ghosts. Remember I have told my story's of 22 years attending road trauma events 73 deaths before I could no longer continue to count. A great bloke who is no longer a police officer shared 23 of those deaths and he claims still to talk to some of them. Mental health issue? Who can be sure? There is an old Chinese proverb I have always found intriguing. "With our minds we create the world". I believe there is substance to this! But without hard evidence, all they are is just stories. Each one of us are on our own a journey, so please choose your path carefully. Maybe your friends trauma is playing out in his mind, but I am sure its nothing more. The human brain is still not fully understood as yet, and like the thoughts of early man, very little has changed. EVO Posted by EVO, Friday, 29 August 2008 10:09:36 AM

Dear Belly and Evo,
I've just remembered a story my mum used to tell. It happened during the war in Germany. Now I may not remember all the facts, but as I recall, mum said there was this small village in Bavaria where this woman by the surname of Neumann was considered a "holy woman." She suffered from stigmata. Every Easter, the woman would start bleeding in the same areas as the crucified Christ (hands, feet, side, et cetera). She would be bedridden during this time. And, after Easter, the bleeding would miraculously stop. There would be huge lines of people outside her small cottage waiting to go in and see this spectacle for themselves. Mum was one of them. Mum said it was amazing how people who were so skeptical outside the cottage, would come out pale as ghosts. Mum found the entire experience very moving. No one could explain why this happened. People just accepted it. Posted by Foxy, Friday, 29 August 2008 2:25:07 PM

EVO I share your view it very well maybe his brain doing things we do not yet understand.
Such trauma changes us all. I will not go into full details so as not to open family wounds but he in one month saw 4 horrible smashes kill 9 people. We stood together in the dark waiting for the body's to be removed to start cleaning up the scene. He was not the only victim not in the smash. One of my crew left his very long term job just weeks before redundancy pay was offered no longer able to do it. One thing is true, at one trauma site even now I and many others feel a presents we can not explain. Just after arriving at such a site some feel such presents and may wait months to talk of it. EVO...
As some of you may know, I'm a retired copper and in the last two or so years of my service, I was an assistant Coroner's Officer, situated at the city mortuary. Our Mortuary accommodated the needs of a city with an average population of 370,000 (+ or -). Therefore, it was not necessary to man the place 24/7, rather the 'case officer' responsible for handling the death would simply lodge the body in the mortuary, with the assistance of the 'on call' contractors (who also generally conducted the 'transfer' from the site of the death to the Mortuary). At the time of lodgement, the case officer was required to complete the necessary paperwork, search, record all property et al. I was always called out, in order to arrange the PM, amongst other things, and I was required to be present during ALL PM's to record the Doc's 'cause of death' etc. In the case of a suspicious death (murder ?), many other duties were undertaken and in a generally much quicker time frame too. Anyway, to cut this long dreary tale short, and getting to the point, I was required to open and close the place and at all times of the day and night...mostly alone ! In the ENTIRE time I was doing the job, I've never ever experienced ANYTHING that could be described as extraordinary or supernatural ! I was often required to wheel the gurney in and out of the main 'fridge, prepare bodies for 'transfer' by the Funeral blokes, affix appropriate tag/s often before the arrival of others, including the case officer (a police member), morgue attendants, pathologists, or the NOK. Of course we all know that most buildings make sounds. Air-conditioning, expansion and contraction of building material etc. etc. BUT there is absolutely NOTHING about the dead that should concern anybody at all ! The dead ARE dead. In fact, on a personal note, ever since I've worked there, I've changed from a very confused AGNOSTIC to 'a born again' ATHEIST ! The dead ARE absolutely dead. Of that, you can be assured. o sung wu. Its pretty obvious I'm on a path for new discoveries, and going over old grounds just to make sure I haven't missed anything, a double check you might say.
But one of the questions I asked was, can belief be that strong, that it can produce images or ghosts as the case may be? I my self, am in full agreement with you! DEAD IS DEAD! I am quite happy with that, but what is all these other people seeing and "why" they are seeing them has got my insatiable curiosity going.(some would say I have too much time on my hands) so I may as well use it to find a few answers. On the subject of death, my wife many years ago, had a miscarriage and my first born daughter died in my arm's, miles away from anywhere. You could image the horror we when though, and we just had to sit there and watch her die. There was nothing we could do. (seven months old) I will save you all the graphic details. When she got out of the hospital, back at home, our other three old girl was talking to something on the kitchen sink. We asked, what is it darling! and she replied, "look" buba! We couldn't see a dam thing! and for three days she kept on with this and then it stopped, then she carried on with her little life like nothing happened. You go figure! I am completely lost for a explanation, other than the one I put above. EVO Posted by EVO, Saturday, 30 August 2008 9:42:24 PM

A friend of mine related this experience:
He works in a large heritage building. It has old weathered sandstone walls, perpetually dark corners, gargoyle sentries.Though old, the building has the latest high tech accessories, including power savers that shut down lighting in unused sectors. One night he was working back late. There was no one else around and hadn’t been for quite some time. And as a result, all of the building except his sector was in darkness. At some point he needed to visit the toilet. Access is via a long narrow corridor, barely wide enough for two to pass.As he approached the toilet door, it drew open, and an arm reached out towards him. Startled, he stepped back to allow whoever was to exit –but no one came forth. The hand just seemed to hang there, flexing like branch in the breeze.A moment later, the lights cut out. He retreated to foyer where the sensor was located to re-activate the power. Now, no one had passed him, and there were no other exits. Yet, when he returned to the now lighted toilets –there was no body there. Posted by Horus, Sunday, 31 August 2008 11:09:43 AM

Dear Horus,
My husband had a similar experience. He used to work in an old Victorian building that was classified by the National Trust. It was modernised in parts and converted into offices. One evening my husband took a short cut to leave the building through the "old" part. As he walked down the winding stairs, he heard footsteps behind him. He turned and looked, but there was no one there. The next day he mentioned his experience to some of his colleagues. They told him that all of them had heard the footsteps at night, but like him had seen nothing. Years later, my husband learned that the building had once been a brothel and that a murder had taken place on those stairs. Some people don't believe in the supernatural, but that's allright. It's something you have to experience for yourself. And not everybody gets to do that, I guess. Posted by Foxy, Sunday, 31 August 2008 5:46:52 PM

Is there some reason why you ignore our posts? We have noticed on a several threads over the last few months you have not replied to comments directed to you- or questions etc. Is there are reason or is it an oversite. At first we thought perhaps you unwell so didnt want to bother you Then we noticed you have reponded to others. Taryn first picked up on this serval months ago but we asked her not to post you in case you were unwell and took it the wrong way. Now I would like to ask you myself why have you ignored our posts to you on several threads. I would really appreciate an answer. Have we upset you in some way? An answer would be good manners and we would appreciate it. Posted by People Against Live Exports & Intensive Farming, Monday, 15 September 2008 5:05:11 AM

Hi Foxy,
Some years ago when asleep in our windy, old house in rural QLD I "saw" this dark slug-like creature with really bright, shiny eyes come in through the sleepout door...only to disappear from view. My mind had been suddenly openned, maybe by The Lord, to show me what was going to have a go at me. A few seconds later the thing was all over me, pushing me down into the bed trying to smother me. With a great deal of strength I forced myself up and fought the thing off. And it left. Not long afterwards I became a born again christian. Over the following two years or so I would get occasional visits from these type of invisible things... all of which were a confirmation of my faith in Jesus Christ and the fact that is more to the "unseen world" than we know. The stories here are also a confirmation of the dark powers that haunt people; especially when men and women are alone in quiet places. The Bible says there are evil spirit powers on the earth...read Ephesians chapter 6. The 3rd world folks also know this well; many villiages under almost total control of governing spirit powers. If and when attacked I always bring the Power of the Name of Jesus against them...and they flee. An interesting thread Foxy. Posted by Gibo, Wednesday, 17 September 2008 2:56:59 PM

We all love ghost-stories. The supernatural, the unexplainable.
I thought it would be interesting if each of us could relate an event
that they've experienced that can't be easily explained. Or better still, if you've had an encounter with a ghost, share it with us on this thread.
I'll go first.
The house that we lived in prior to our current home had a "presence."
I first became aware of this "presence" one evening while my husband and the boys were out. I was watching TV and out of the corner of my eye I saw this "shadow" at the end of the hallway. When I turned and looked I saw what appeared to be a figure standing at the end of the corridor. As I stared at it, my husband and children came home and the
figure disappeared.
I thought no more about it until the following week-end when after an evening out, my husband and I returned home to find not the babysitter, but her father with our children. He said that his daughter had rung him to come over as there was "something" in the house and she was frightened. He came over and stayed in her place as a babysitter, having sent her home.
We lived in that house for ten years and during that time there were many sightings of this figure. But none of the sightings were confrontational. The figure did not really approach any of us. Yet we all had seen it. It simply would appear from time to time. Finally, we sold the house and moved.
Nothing like it has ever happened to us since.
Your experiences please?
