For the record - I support the banning of all institional human rights abuses, have for a long time, like you i grew up in an institution but my placement in this was not because i was white, lower class but simply because of my apparent race.

The history of policy making specifically aiemd at the removal, internment, extermination, and indeed genocide of Aboriginal people preceeded federation and were policies that informed the processes that enabled what is proudly called the peaceful settlement of this nation.

This nation was created for institionalising human beings but the ones who payed the biggest price over a longer period were not the ones you speak of.

You and others will no doubt disagree with this and thats your choice.
But don't compare apples with oranges just for the sake of it. Yes they are both fruit but they come off very different trees.

Yes forgotten Australian in some fundamental ways similar to Stolen Generations, but they are not the same.

When you can track this abuse across and upward in your immediate family tree its not the same as what you speak of.
