same old parliament, same old politicians. and same mug ozzies wishing for a better result in spite of endlessly repeated betrayals.
"cheat me once, shame on you. cheat me twice, shame on me." when i came here they tried to tell me the cultural cringe was because ozzies are so far from hollywood and cherry lane. wrong. it's because they know that parliament is going to betray them, and they are going to have to smile and pretend they like it. fortunately, it truly is a lucky country. because china needs coal and iron, ozzians will have a good standard of living for a while. even politicians can't muck that up. environment and global warming they can muck up, evidence is all around you. they aren't going to solve the problems their existence has caused, so the luck will end soon. I think we digress, the thread asked for ideas for change, just what would you do if you could?
Aussies have never trusted Polly's, any party , but the first Howard terms saw more trust than normal in him and his party. Those election results proved it. Today with every state, every territory, and federal government in ALP hands we can assume trust is involved . Now those petitions, if every branch of my in theory opposition party ran them. Not confrontational at first , things questioning say child welfare directions past and present. Giving a voice , or polling upcoming bills to see how voters think, what would be wrong about that? Is it likely? please tell me, to advance the thought that before Parliament even sits Labor is in bed with unions and betraying voters? So much effort to what end? tell voters they got it wrong? Again like Rudd did , some me too is needed in the first months , not devision . While voters are weary of opposition for opposition first task is so simple bring the other party's voter to you but even before that getting your own lost voters back is task one. Screaming and shouting, making outrageous claims clearly untrue are no help. Reality has its part to play in politics, few Aussies are unhappy with our system, that is reality. huffnpuff, have you seen the site for the "Inquiry into Children in Institutional Care"
http://www.aph.gov.au/Senate/committee/clac_ctte/inst_care/ Whilst it is a long way short of an apology as the first order of business of a parliment the government response includes the following http://www.aph.gov.au/Senate/committee/clac_ctte/inst_care/gov_response/gov_response.pdf "The suffering experienced by so many children placed in institutional care is a matter of shame for this country. While past practices and attitudes were not always the same as those of today, there can be no excuse for the physical and emotional abuse and pain experienced by thousands of these children." The sad thing about this is that the documents are dated from November 2005 and it's now 2008. R0bert Posted by R0bert, Saturday, 2 February 2008 2:16:32 PM

Is this the place where political parties such as labor and the unions treat the people with disrespect.
Lets look at Heiner
Daruk and the list keeps going.
Is this your reality.
The people that are destroyed by party policy
The people that are ingnored by party policy.
So when these predators start acting in the interests of the people we have nothing but lies and coruption.
Now what was said about the unions and labor policy was fact, this was said by the union at the newcastle meeting with all the labor and union slaves there.
Also if antone saw meet the press then the rest was about unions and how they would loss money and, oh no they might have to take a pay cut.
Not about the workers but unions. So for those who do not know what reality is then maybe you you take your head out of rudds backside and have a look.
What is it now 18 years those who have suffured over Heiner and still going, Labor and the unions shut that down quick.
This is reality and representation and people who will fight is what is needed not slaves.
