Belly,

I am not dismissing out of hand the idea that some good may come of the Rudd Labor Government (although I remain very concerned about the pulp mill in Tasmania and the destruction of Port Phillip Bay scheduled to commence on 1 February, which Peter Garrett failed to act to stop - see http://www.bluewedges.org).

However the idea that any Labor Government was better than a Liberal government, which was sold to us during the Hawke/Keating years as it drifted further to the right, privatising the Commonwealth bank, QANTAS and retirement income and adopting the stupid National Competition Policy on the way, only paved the way for the dark ages under the rule of John Howard which began in 1996 and only just ended just a few months ago.

I think the lesson to be drawn from this is that uncritical acceptance of everything the Federal Labor government decides to dish out is no guarantee that this sorry experience will not be repeated.

Your energy for this topic is just what is needed. Actually to be honest we spoke more about your thread while away than any other subject.
We took a book I purchased a year ago along with us and had to take turns at carrying the darn thing on and off planes. It’s as heavy as lead.

We wrote to the Minister for Communications on several occasions in regards to the control conflict of interest and straight out misinforming the public. I can recall seeing a picture of Sheryl patting a sheep on their site= Sickening.

They were not just ordinary letters. Each time there would be a very long delay followed by a ` New Minister. Sort of like a change of guards.
Reminds me a bit of the AVA- Australian Vetinary Association.
I would invite you to email us through our web page.
Mean time I will post general info.
The other reason I haven’t posted is I was afraid we would be accused of picking on a certain person posting...
I can only advise people again not to include themselves personally in posts because you then set people up to be accused of attacking that personal `personally`

So that means now if somebody comments about unions you have set the stage for it to be taken as a personal attack when no such intention may have meant.

This is the other reason we stayed away from this thread even despite we really really wanted to talk to Bronco.

People who care are hard to find. Good blokes with good intentions. I would love to see unions taking on a few new roles. With this new Government now is the time.

For example knowing the shortage shortage Of RSPCA staff perhaps they could include some training and act as double up inspectors for business and members and staff running some education programs as well.
There are plenty of animal’s on job sites. It’s not unusual for State Gov and RSPCA to have similar MOUs

In order to not agree you first must know full background.

History
War time and beyond.
The 2nd world war dramatically increased in radio. This was so both in the area of sercurity restrictions on broadcast material and the citizenry an expanded gloss on global events. Before the war ABC Manager Chales Moses nints` for guidance of ABC News Compliers.
This was called the ABC formular for truthful reportage.

radio Australia ( and its time take over by government and the imposition of srict censorship.
ABC news followed the Governments move on primary Pacific threate of war. Most of this material was relied on for commericials.

ABC becoming an arm of stae led to protests from listeners.

There were also problems with the Lutheran Church.

The rationing of newspapers gave raio a huge shot in the arm.The war also cut off commericial supply of transcripts and so forth.
In 1949 The Australian Broadcasting Control board ABCB was put together as a authooity to regulate the industry, and the independence provided a legal personality that was inderpendant from resonsilities of that daysGovernment.
However the truth was the Minister retained powers to award and revoke licences.

ABCs blue hills contined right throughto 1976. I can rember Dad never missed it.
By law theyhad to broadcaster Parliment from 1946 in part to raise profile of politicians and partly because of the Labour Governments obsessions with press bias against it.

daggert your post is one I completely understand, it is true that I wear my heart on my sleeve proudly.
Medea will always in this country be owned by those who can afford to own it.
Other than the ABC, my ABC just as proudly, I find biases there too, both for and against my side of politics.
The thread has become somewhat general in nature, some of that is my fault.
I followed the lead of Bronco then you, no harm done.
I believe my ALP and my union movement are not perfect, both get it wrong and often.
As I do daggert, I think you may be a green, see I am not, sorry but the fact is with no intent to annoy I feel a more conservative path is needed to see long term ALP governments fix what we can.
In relation to my feelings!,may I please state I am not offended by anyones insults to my union movement or the ALP.
I want no more of this verbal tennis in threads I visit.
My thoughts are these, time and again I highlighted what concerns me about one group.
We continue to post without pain in the same threads.
Then something like this springs up it always has I even said it would in that thread!the mutual respect while debateing one.
My issues are not just never addressed, but ignored! such as some in the respect thread.
Then a totally false reason for my determination not to get involved is given.
I in my view am convinced I will not find rational debate from one group, that thoughts that are not mine are said to be reason.
This tough old unionist has never taken to his heels after being insulted.
I just want to never again find myself in debate that is one sided, and likely to find no resolution.
I find the intrusion into threads to insult me foolish

See what I mean. Can somebody ` Please` tell us what we said that was so wrong?
I posted some basic history regarding media control which is on topic.
What Belly? What is it this time! You’re driving me nuts with this persecution problem or whatever ever it is.

I am going to continue because I am sick to death of you running us out of threads.
PLEASE Leave Ignore or debate the topic but stop making the forum personal because it isn’t.
Continued=

By 1960 object in the corner changed from value to transistor. Forty to fifty percent of people listening on Sundays could do so at the beach which was the thing to do.

Overseas influence increased at this period. Mean while ABC was importuning discs for programming and Macquarie Network which was owned by British interests from 1951 to 1965.

Made use of current affairs material from MZ British, Ceylonese South Africa contacts.

Around about 1953 there were major dramas.

Fights broke out between actors employers over bring in importation of stars and around (please look the other way belly)
1962 The Musicians Union complained about imported jingles.
ABCB was very concerned it overrode the commercial needs of broadcasters.
Programs in other languages were very very strictly limited.
Mid 1950s they had the first appointments of the citizen’s representatives to the boards which up to that point had been the fiefdom of its “Expert” Chairs

The ABCB then doubled its music quota to 5cents and allowed Sunday advertising .Then a shift in the broadcasting policy came. They said the announcements in 1956 that TV program’s standards would be mapped automatically on to all radio and fm.
A study back then of program’s warned of the unholy effects on the youth that exposure to radio could bring.

Now you have got to wonder if they didn’t get something right back then haven’t you.
Good night all.

This thread in my view is largely a debate between Bronco Lane and myself.
Others have contributed but mostly Bronco who appears to be from Social Alliance and myself have debated the impacts of Medea bias on the less than good showing of the ALP in Western Australia.
I am from center unity of the NSW ALP the right, we are bound to differ.
Medea ownership and bias vs my view the state ALP dug its own grave by its actions all debated no harsh words.
Contributors have debated ownership and biases but no real coming together seems possible.
Some what stunned by the support shown for both Bronco and the ABC radio program blue hills, I again diverted the thread to question why I was haunted here as in other threads?
The post above mine denies others just higher up the thread took place , a tactic well known to me.
In wanting an end to this pointless stalking of me around the threads, I again highlight my concerns have never been addressed.
One of those concerns is why refer to me in a post so often? why then say it was not done?
How can a group who so often go into print with conservative views support the very left in politics?
Who posts today under that name? yesterday? tomorrow?
early start so I must leave but this can not continue, is it too much to ask? that the personal insults stop?
Here in this forum Many do not agree with my views as I do not agree with theirs, we except that, and act like adults why can we not do that here?
I highlight I will not again talk to one group here, but if I left the forum this second a change must and one day will be forced or adopted by that group.
It has to happen we can not continue to be bashed or to bash because our opinions are different.
