Campaign For Press Freedom. It does appear that the consencus view is that it is owned by the Capitalist Ruling Classes with Kevin Rudd holding office will now mean that as long as our new Prime Minister continues with a mixed economy shoring up private health and education to the detriment of Government Education and Health they will tolerate him in office. The West Australian and the Sunday Times were rightfully attacking Archer, Burke, Grill, McDonald and Reynolds who are within the right faction of the Labor Party Fong was also rightfully attacked. This all gave the Labor Party bad coverage and Alan Carpenter dealt with it instantly. Geoff Gallop did not have these problems because he told his MP's to give Brian Burke a wide berth if their is dog mess on the pavement you do not tread on it you walk around it. The Media were relentless and this did damage Labor. As we all on this thread now think as one we must all now be assertive to use the Campaign For Press Freedom Policies to bring about change to demand the right of reply when it comes to Character Assasination. Carmen Lawrence had a great future but the National Newspapers destoyed her because she was a threat it was nothing les than Character Assasination she did not deserve what happened to her it was all a mountain out of a mole hill.

Dear Belly if you want the ALP to continue as a milk and water conservative party with little change from the heartless Howard years what is the point of having that kind of ALP. The ALP is and should be about bringing in real change. No nuclear except for medical and pharmacy means. No Uranium Mining or waste, No invading countries that are not harming our country. No Privatisation, Improving Government Education and Health no subsidising private Corporations or Multinationals. Invest in Solar, Wind, Waves, Tidal for power. A fairer workplace and worker participation on the boards. Create more Cooperatives and create a new National Bank so that the private banks would have to compete with it for custom. Capaign for Press Freedom that includes the right of reply.

DITTO There is a problem with the mass media, This problem becomes bigger and bigger, as the mass media controlled from less and less corporations, internationally.
Murdoch has controlled a huge part of the mass media worldwide and he used his media as propaganda machine, in the war in Iraq. You remember all the lies for the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. I can not understand why Murdoch's corporation gave for free thousands of newspapers in Paris, before the war in Iraq. Why?
They control our information, they decide if, when, how and what information to give us, they create and control the public opinion. They have huge power to press the political parties, the political leaders, it is very easy for them to promote their own benefits and become even stronger!!
Our freedom of expression is very weak it depends on the corporations of the mass media. They decide what, when, how and if they publish or not our comments, our thoughts, our dreams.
Our democracy is extremely weak, our democracy is captivated by the corporations that control the mass media. DITTO WELL DONE FANTASTIC THIS IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT AND THAT IS WHY THE CURRENT MEDIA SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED IT IS INSULTING OUR INTELLIGENCE.

Ownership of the Medea in a free economy should not be by government truly most would agree?
Once NSW biggest selling news paper, long ago, was known as the Labor daily, it is our worst enemy now, why? we sold it?
In truth at this time in history the left of center party's Labor and greens, can anyone add another with any chance at holding power?
Are evolving I have no wish to speak for the greens, but Labor is no true Socialist party, remember it lost very badly many times before it won.
It won facing Medea bias it won by moving to better country mainstream Australia.
Not a part time move but the true future of left of center politics in Australia.
So very many who time after time decries Labors new path failed in maths, majority's elect governments.
Very few want other than middle of the road politics .
ownership of the Medea is subject to can you afford to pay what it is worth, unless it is a communist country the ownership is about killing press freedom.
Ask the people of China about press freedom.

Tony Blair was booed off the platform at the East Anglia Annual Conference because his views was so far to the right and it was obvious that he is a Conservative in Labor clothing. He was an advocate for Gateskeill, Roy Jenkins, Shirley Williams and David Owen the traitors who set up a political party to oppose the Labour Party. This weakened Labour for eighteen years enabling the infamous Margaret Thatcher to decimate Trade Unions and attack all working people she was at war with her own people. She supported Polands Solidarity to the detriment of British coal Miners. Young people were made homeless and slept under bridges in cardboard boxed. Porky Howards aped her with the same policies. Blair was part of the axis of evil with Bush and Howard to invade Iraq. Privatised their oil clusterd bombed innocent women and children that was a criminal act on par with the use of Agent Orange used in Vietnam. Our Conservative owned media such as Foxtel etc supported this was and made it looked exciting to appeal to all war mongers.

After a post like your last Bronco Lane I understand I should just walk away.
Yet I can not, while the thread , your thread is about press freedom your post highlights my reason for living.
My life has been one of Labor /union activism, no shame in that for me.
From different times different standards I a very long time ago was a communist, then a Socialist.
Weary at running last in the race for power it came to me my dreams did not have mass support, never would have.
In fact Bronco they had in fact been nightmares.
Your sling at true trade unionists Solidarity, fighting for true working class aims freedom brightened my day.
But the vital truth, that you ignored Tony Blair's leadership for world wide Labor party's, his great victory's and the evolution of his party is noteworthy.
The lights on the hill no longer burn in hungry homes and kero is not the fuel, dreams of leftist Paradise's are fables.
Only from with government can left of center party's change anything, and our future is from within mainstream Australia not a dream that for most is a nightmare.
Just maybe my life's dream is to come true, by the time this ALP government leaves office we will have forever got rid of the idea we can not be trusted and just maybe our country will be a better one for it.
We must wait and see, it will be 9 or maybe 12 years before we see that happen.
