In a very disturbing move, the United States has weaponized space by placing what US Air Force Secretary Troy Meink called “on-orbit space control weapons”. For the US now to declare it has space weapons, it seems like an admission that what China and Russia has been saying for many years is correct, "America is weaponizing space, and creating a space arms race". Under the 1967 Outer Space Treaty it is illegal to place weapons, including nuclear weapons in orbit around Earth, or in outer space. Since 1981, in every year, the UN General Assembly adopts a resolution on the Prevention of an Arms Race in Outer Space, the US has not supported the resolution. This is a belligerent and provocative move on the part of America. Most likely China and Russia will respond with a counter move, once more edging the world closer to the day of Armageddon.

The 1967 Outer Space Treaty does NOT prohibit nations putting weapons in space. It prohibits weapons of mass destruction - nukes, chemical, biological weapons. The US hasn't violated the treaty. One wonders if Paul didn't know or didn't care about that nuance. With Paul I suspect the word "and" is more appropriate.

These weapons have been in space for at least the last few years and probably much longer. There's is more than ample evidence that China has likewise weaponised space. Of course, give that Paul is such a cheer-leader for the CCP, if it had been them that made the announcement, Paul would have crowing that it proves their superior technology.

Its also suggested Russia has something up there too, but given that their space launch programme is all but kaput, they probably don't have much to speak of.

Given that the US has had the stuff up there for a long while now, I wonder why they made the announcement this week? Inquiring minds ponder.

A little while back it was confirmed that Iran had used satellite imagery to target a US base in Jordan that resulted in 3 US deaths.

Where did the imagery come from.... a particular Chinese satellite, it seems.

In a totally unrelated event, that same satellite exploded a few days after being identified.

So....

* Chinese satellite used in the war effort against the US.
* Same Chinese satellite suddenly explodes.
* US announces they have weapons in space.

All totally unrelated coincidences, I'm sure. (/smile).

BTW, conventional weapons can't operate in space, only the ones mentioned, including nuclear.

And perhaps you missed the dual use satellites like the Shijian, Shiyan, TJS series satellites that are capable of destroying other satellites.

As to weapons in space, I get that you just want to believe your Chinese heroes would never have done such a thing and no amount of evidence will convince you otherwise. But the rest of us are more balanced.

Just as regards weapons in space, they seem to fall into three main categories:

1. Anti-Satellite satellites that manoeuvre close to the target and just blow it up. The Chinese have already shown this capability.
2. Space based lasers that would be used to take out ICBMs in flight.
3. So called "Rods of Thor" - a kinetic bombardment weapon: dense tungsten rods released from orbit. Gravity accelerates them to hypersonic speeds; they strike targets with enormous kinetic energy—no explosives needed—delivering devastation comparable to a small nuclear blast.
