Hi Trumpster,

Given the American aggression not only on the Earth, but now in space, I would not be surprised if China, and possibly Russia, were to deploy "missiles in space", China certainly would be capable of it.

"The "Rods of Thor" (officially known as Project Thor or "Rods from God") is a US Air Force space-based weapon system designed to use kinetic bombardment to destroy high-value, hardened targets on Earth from orbit." YOU ARE TOO MUCH INTO YOUR MARVEL COMICS!

"Anti-Satellite satellites that manoeuvre close to the target and just blow it up. The Chinese have already shown this capability." YES trying to be good environmentalist by removing space junk.

"Space based lasers that would be used to take out ICBMs in flight." We know who was doing that project. America under the ratbag Reagan.

Hi 15TrillionPaul,

"I would not be surprised if China, and possibly Russia, were to deploy "missiles in space", "

So you made up this stuff about missiles in space and then try to back out by claiming it might happen sometime, somewhere, somehow....or something.
How is it that your fantasy-land is more relevant to you than the truth?

"YES trying to be good environmentalist by removing space junk."

Ahem....when they did that they created thousands of pieces of space junk that still threaten satellites and are claimed to have taken out two other satellites over the past decade. But 15T would never beleive anything bad about the CCP.

"America under the ratbag Reagan."

Yes Reagan was way ahead of his time. Still SDI was the best weaponry system NEVER built and was instrumental in causing the fall of the failed Soviet Union state.

"So....

* Chinese satellite used in the war effort against the US.
* Same Chinese satellite suddenly explodes.
* US announces they have weapons in space.

All totally unrelated coincidences, I'm sure. (/smile)."

Ugh.. Iran launched three domestically built Earth-observation satellites from Vostochny Cosmodrome (Zafar-2, Paya, and Kowsar 1.5) on December 28, 2025.
They don't even need the Chinese for surveillance, but they're using BeiDou not GPS.
And so what if they are anyway? This war threatens Chinese interests in the gulf and the U.S. is using it's own satellites to start and continue this war

Generally speaking though, putting weapons in space is just going to end up with millions of objects of space junk encircling the planet for centuries

AC, I wasn't critiquing China for helping Iran with its targeting. I would have thought that was a given. The only surprising thing is how impotent China has been in helping one of it few allies in the M-E. I'd have thought they'd provide a lot more help given how bad the current current oil crisis is for their economy. But clearly they are incapable of doing so.

(BTW, did you notice that the Saudis have returned to using the petrodollar system. It just gets worse for the BRICS crowd).

So I'm not surprised by the Chinese helping Iran and not criticising that. But I saw the dots and connected them to arrive at one possible reason why the US made its announcement about weapons in space.
