Transwoman allowed to play in female football

I was interested, but also concerned to read of a recent story where a transwoman 'Freya Golding' in Australia has been allowed to play football with other women, despite objections from some, including football clubs on the matter.

http://www.starobserver.com.au/news/south-australian-football-clubs-launch-complaints-about-transgender-player/242620

The AFL has however ruled against the football clubs and allowed the transwoman to play.

http://www.dailymail.com/sport/afl/article-16040575/AFL-clears-transgender-footballer-playing-womens-league-despite-three-clubs-raising-safety-fears.html

The decision was made under the AFL's Community Football Gender Diversity Policy, which differs from the rules applied at elite and semi-professional levels - something I find odd and contradictory.

Adelaide Footy League (the party affected) and its CEO John Kernahan said the competition had not changed its position on the potential danger posed to other female players through the transwomen's involvement in football, considering the transwoman playing as a safety risk.

The AFL committee's ruling has been accepted by all involved and Freya Golding remains eligible to play - despite the impacts on female players in the football teams.

It is something I am very concerned about. Female only football teams were set up for a range of reasons, one to enable female players to be part of football and to play with other people of a similar body type etc. Also to be away from toxic masculinity in men's/boys football as well. All things not unreasonable.

What happens if all the other players willfully and deliberately go after the transgender?
Numerous girls just pummel it every time it goes near the ball, to put her off and deliberately undermine any impact she can have on the game.
Does the transgender player get to scream discrimination based on gender due to wilful and deliberate targeting?

He is not playing with “other women”. He is not a woman. He is a biological man playing with people who are actually women.

There is no such thing as a “transwoman”, which is a word made up by activists. What a sorry state Australian society is in influenced, as usual, by a minority bunch of lunatics who must never be offended, the wankerdoodle arseholes.

Woke corporate sport havs been overtaken by lesbians, socialists and cowards.

My opinion, its up to the proponents of "Aerial Ping-Pong" to work it out for themselves. The game has no rules, so who cares who plays. I watched the woman's rugby league the other day, they allow 250 pound gorillas to play, female gorillas that is, male gorillas are banned, they're too big!

I think gays should be banned from playing Chess, I played a gay friend a while back, and he thrashed me, obviously he had an unfair advantage!

Paul1405,

You can't trivialise this issue by making comparisons to playing chess. It's a very serious issue and I would say only those who don't play sport of a more physical nature would play it all down like it is nothing.

One of the concerns raised here was the weight of the transwoman in question compared to other female players, alongside the transwoman's other actions on the field. So, it's not something to dismiss in that regard.

Women's only football/sports were set up for a reason. To provide women/girls with a safe playing space in terms of football/sports. You can't just take that away from women/girls and consider that acceptable - as it is not.

Sports as we currently have them are mainly for winning, so not for exercise, playing with others, making friends etc. and this needs to be understood. I think the first article link tries to insinuate those things, but in reality as a person who has played in multiple sports - I know winning comes first.

It's not right in my view to barge your way in to another group's team, sport and club and consider that acceptable - particularly when other people have concerns, including potentially the players.

We don't know how many will truly though speak out in this case for fear of abuse, harassment, retribution, concerns about being thrown off the team etc.

Only time will tell what happens.

We are born to be biologically either male or female.
Our physical body will usually match this very well.
The male body is usually stronger than that of the female.
So, when engaging in sports activities, there is a distinct, and natural, divide.
Unfortunately, some people are born with an emotional outlook which does
not match their body.
They can also have built in sexuality which does not match their physical form.
They have a need to portray themselves as opposite to their biological state.
And they will undertake surgical manipulation to transform their appearance.
But some things they cannot change.
Their physical strength, and their voice.
Consider the situation where a biological male aspires to be seen as female.
He will still have the added physical strength of a male person.
And mostly still have a male voice.
Those I have met are like this.
They should not engage in sports activities outside their biological state.
They have a physical advantage which makes their participation totally unfair.

Hi NathanJ,

If as you say "It's a very serious issue", but only to those who participate or administer the sport. But for others on the sideline, with no skin in the game, its of little interest or concern. Should I say, "its a bad thing", or should I say "its a good thing", neither are relevant to those who are actually involved.

Bad luck, you didn't like my flippant comment concerning my gay friend and chess. Although taken to the nth degree, being gay and being good at chess, could have some relationship. Gay kids spent more time playing non contact games (chess) in doors, whilst straight kids spent more time playing physical games (rugby) outdoors, thus giving gays an advantage at chess over straights. BTW, do you think if I use that argument my friend might give me say, a 'Knight' as a handicap start next time we play? If I loose I'll think up some other baloney to get one up on him.

Just out of interest, how does this Tranny go at women's "Aerial Ping-Pong", is she a super player, scores 150 goals every match, or is she just an ordinary run of the mill player like the rest of the team. If its the latter, who cares what she's got between the legs!

My opinion, I think too many people spend to much time, worrying about what other people can and can not do. When it has no effect on them at all.

"I played a gay friend a while back, and he thrashed me, obviously he had an unfair advantage!"

Intelligence?

__________________________________________________________________

This same issue is now being played out in women's basketball in the US. Like all good leftists, those who run the WNBA make the right noises about transwomen being real women and therefore should be allowed to play.

So one billionaire has now proposed to buy one of the franchises and then create an entire team on transwomen. He figures they win every game by the length of the straight.

To cash in, another bloke who couldn't quite make it in the men's league, has suddenly declared the (heh presto!) he's a shiela after all and wants to be drafted into the women's game and earn the big bucks available.

The bozos who run the WNBA are now running scared that the game will be overrun by blokes playing dress-up. They've called a meeting to reconsider their position.

Meanwhile to prove that women just can't match it with the men, another bloke has offered a women's team made up of the best players they can muster $10 million if they play and defeat an under-16 boys team. The women aren't interested in the offer, knowing full well they'd be on a hiding to nothing.

Hi Trumpster,

The only lack of intelligence is YOU. I believe since that blind bloke beat YOU at Draughts, your game of choice now is Noughts & Crosses. I'll play YOU a 100 times, and YOU wont beat me once! The only condition is I go first!

I think all games should be open to all participants, regardless, even black fellas! Back in the day, when I played rugby as Left Right Out for the Blowflys, I recall the 1957 season! We hadn't won a game in the past 249 outings, and halfway through 57, things weren't looking any better for us Blowflys, 10 losses straight, bottom of the table. Then this guy Horrie turned up at training. Didn't say much Horrie, mostly grunted. Coach Nackkers trained Horrie to just get the ball, stick it on his back, run straight up field, under the posts, flop down on the spot, a try every time. With that things turned around for us Blowflys, won every game Horrie played, won the pennant that year! Sadly, the Commie, lefty, do gooders, down at Rugby HQ, banned Horrie from competing in 1958, said his testosterone was too high, we never won another match, and we never seen Horrie Hippopotamus ever again! How unfair is that?

I have no problem with people using the pronouns they want, wearing the clothes they want and modifying their own bodies if they want.

But … there are circumstances in which biology is a material consideration, and in these cases it sometimes makes sense to distinguish between biological males and females. Sexual safety is one, and some medical services.

Women’s sport exists precisely because people who go through puberty as males emerge on average taller, heavier, faster and stronger than females. Female-only sport allows a fair and safe contest. In a few sports these things don’t matter, or the benefits of being male or female pretty much cancel, e.g. equestrian. But that is precisely why there is not, for example, separate men’s and women’s dressage competition in the Olympics.

I have no problem at all with trans men competing at elite level in men’s sport. The fact that this has never emerged as an issue is itself telling.

At sub-elite level, so long as safety is not an issue, it matters less. If a local tennis club allows trans women to compete in women’s tournament, I wouldn’t be concerned.

Tennis icon Martina Navratilova has weighed in on this issue and has spoken out against the decision made in this case.

“Australia is really messed up when it comes to women’s rights” according to Martina Navratilova.

It's a very difficult issue as some people are trying to have it both ways, sit on the fence or in this case side with a transwomen over a woman, leaving women's sports worse off in terms of women playing in sports generally.

As stated in this interview and story (link below), it is said how it is important to stand up for women in women's sports. Personally I agree.

A number of people had also been warning about cases like we are seeing now in terms of transwomen in women's/girls sports for some time as well according to the interview. Many in the media have not been willing to report either (particularly female reporters/journalists) on this issue more broadly and in my view that is disappointing.

Those in the interview do though have no issue with transwomen in sports and I am one of those people. I have no issue with transwomen in sports as a principle. I am one of those concerned if transwomen's involvement is at the expense of other women and their role/playing opportunities in sport.

http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/aflw/australia-is-messed-up-fury-as-transgender-player-approved-to-compete-in-womens-footy-competition/news-story/c24b89a9e73c0375283579d24f88513e

I hope more people speak out on this issue and we can get change for the better in terms of women's sports across Australia.

What? A sport struggling to stay afloat, subsidized by the men's version demanding equal Pay?

After winning the premiership last season, the Brisbane Broncos have been a team of Old Shellas this season, running second last in a competition of 17. Only the St George Women's Knitting Team are doing worse!

"What? A sport struggling to stay afloat, subsidized by the men's version demanding equal Pay?"

Actually they're not struggling at the moment thanks to a couple of white superstars who are bringing people into the game. That's why the trans folk want in.

Hilariously, the administrators of the game are holding a meeting this week to work out what they mean by 'women' and whether people with cocks who are playing dress-up are really-trooly women. So the WNBA has been around for decades and they didn't really know what the 'W' stood for!!

Hi Trumpster,

Are YOU not a Brisbane Bronco's supporter? What's needed in team sport, such as Lawn Bowls, besides a sh!t load more gambling ads, (Bookie Albo is working on that, said its odd-on he'll have more saturation gambling ads during kiddy telly time, faster than you can say Phar Lap) is as the great Sex Messup (Rex Mossip to his friends) did pontificate many a time, is more "BIFFO", there's not enough "BIFFO", said Sex, not enough claret streaming from busted heads, that have been pole-axed in a good old fashioned spear tackle, or a decent stiff arm to brighten up an opposition players day! When Sex said that, he was referring to the gentle game of Croquet, I can only image what he wanted to see in Football!

Just responding to some of the comments here.

Armchair Critic,

<<What happens if all the other players wilfully and deliberately go after the transgender?>>

I think one of the issues will be if the other female players actively boycott the other Trans player and refuse to kick the ball or handball to them, choose to ignore them in the game and in the change rooms. Not good for the player in any way or the other players for that matter. Not a welcoming environment, alongside any built up hate which is building up over time.

The other players have no say either - it's all up to outside forces such as the AFL. Rules, BTW the major and national teams are exempt from, which I find strange and a double standard in terms of this case.

I understand why some don't want to discriminate here, in fact as a principle I don't like it. But people have to understand women's football is just that, women's football and is meant to be for women only.
