Hi NathanJ,

Australia aspires to being a tolerant and inclusive society free from hate and bigotry, that is an aspersion rather than a reality. The fact is discrimination is deeply rooted in Australian society, from the massive discrimination directed towards Aboriginal people from the earliest days of colonisation to today, to the anti-Asian, Islamophobia, gay hate, and antisemitism etc discrimination which is evident today.

The polarisation in Australia, with what seems to be a shift to the hateful politics of the extreme right is only going to exacerbate discrimination.

It's a can of worms AC. I would agree with you about the editor being free to provide her services at her discretion, but does that make her different from the restaurant in China that refused to serve a black American basketballer, leaving him to watch his wife and kid eating lunch through a pane of glass? Aholes can create some difficult problems.

“Inclusive society”? When it comes to Jews we are an antisemitic society. Not individually. But as a country we broadcast antisemitism globally.

Jews are safer in Israel than they are in Australia.

Nathan has apparently been driven to ask another of his Dorothy Dixers after hearing an ABC podcast about the Royal Commission into antisemitism in Australia.

Answer your own questions, Nathan. All you are doing is providing an excuse for the site's antisemite to sound off.

Anthony Halas, chair of the Jewish Centre for Law and Justice can look after himself. He will find another publisher.

And, the Royal Commission will provide the answers you claim to seek. Anonymous people, strangers with no known qualifications, are the last people you should be asking. If you took notice of other posters and actually took part in discussions instead of just asking questions, you would know what others think about everything.

Speaking of a-holes...

"All you are doing is providing an excuse for the site's antisemite to sound off."
- If you don't have anything worthwhile to contribute to the discussion then just shut up you idiot.

At least NathanJ knows how to start a thread properly by posting a link to the content being discussed.

As I understand it, the editor isn't declining to work with the writer because he's Jewish but because of his views on one issue.

That's not racial discrimination but a political difference and any legal action wouldn't get off the ground. The editor has every right to decline to be involved in a political treatise that pushes views they don't agree with.
