too harsh on the public service
Paul1405,
You know only too well that this refers to the unproductive bureaucracy & not those Public Servants who do their job !
Bureaucrats should not be referred to as Public Servants in the first place as they clearly do not serve nor serve any purpose ! Public Servants are vital, bureaucrats try to make themselves look vital. There are too many who are vital simply to enable the Labor Party to continue, nothing else.
People always nitpick loopholes but never help to close them (ring any bells ?). I personally know many Labor/LNP/ON supporters & I'm convinced that most of them are parasitic & abject to symbiosis.
The difference I see in these parties are their leadership teams & presently, ON seem to show the most integrity & Labor the least & LNP are simply an irrelevant, aimlessly wandering bunch !

ps. At least LNP aren't doing any damage to the Nation apart from costing a lot of money that's obviously wasted !

Imagine Australian bureaucrats doing that for the sake of the Nation !

The Hungarian Parliament unanimously passed a bill slashing lawmakers' monthly base salaries by 40%. Prime Minister Péter Magyar’s pay will be reduced by over 50%, and mobile phone stipends and office allowances are being eliminated. The pay reductions are designed to save the state budget billions of forints.Key details of the pay structure include:Base Salaries: An MP's monthly base salary is being reduced from 2.18 million to 1.31 million forints (approximately $4,300 USD).Prime Minister: PM Magyar’s monthly salary drops from 7.8 million forints to 3.8 million forints (roughly $10,500 USD).State Funding: State funding for political parties is also being scaled back.

Hi Indy,

You say; "Would it not be more sensible to have a 6% pay cut"... "warrant that pay rise"..."I always failed to see the benefits because pay rises invariably bring about increased expenses."

Rather hypocritical of someone who takes two pay rises every year in the form of aged welfare, with zero productivity to be gained, do you not think so?

Rather hypocritical of someone who takes two pay rises every year
Paul1405,
Not hypocritical of me but rather stupid of you to say so! I'd be the first to put up my hand for no increase if nothing else increases either. I'm not the one asking for these increases to make everything else to increase ? The Unions keep demanding more for no increase in productivity, not the Pensioners. Bring down Bureaucrat salaries & business profits & Government charges etc & Pensioners won't need a rise. To suggest Pensioners should go with less whilst the insipid, parasitic Leftists are demanding more just shows what what an insipid, selfish, empathy devoid outfit the Leftists are.
You cause increases, not us Pensioners !

Are pay increases naturally inevitable or are they as a result of mismanaging the economy ?
Who or what are the grounds for pay rises ? Isn't it perfectly natural that when pays go up so do costs ? So, why not stop pay rise & costs will have no reason to increase ?
Should cost increases attract way more scrutiny than just be accepted without scrutiny ? Should it not be a case of one not going up so the other has no excuse to go up ?
Of course this is an extremely simplistic view of looking at it but but should things really be the convoluted manipulation they are ? The system has become pure parasitism with a minute dose of symbiosis just to keep the masses from revolting !
