The uncertainties of the modern world, including the US action against Iran - the consequence of which, for Australia, is the threat to lines of supply, particularly oil - call for an alliance such as CANZUK. Big powers and rising powers are causing instability.
The combined GDP of our four countries is predicted to be $8.85 trillion this year, capable of challenging “volatile actors globally”. Mobility of movement among CANZUK countries would ensure “automatic professional recognition” for professional workers when needed. The bloc would also be the world’s third largest defence spender, exceeding $140 billion. Posted by ttbn, Thursday, 12 March 2026 9:03:19 AM

The Canadian PM's visit to Australia has resulted in a major defence collaboration; and Canada has bought our Over-the-Horizon-Radar system.

I have no problem with economic cooperation agreements, but I do have a problem with war alliances, and their deadly consequences.
According to GY everything should be run a bunch of conservative economic dry nitwits like Iron Balls Thatcher and Little Johnny Howard. I don't know Brian Mulroney or Stephen Harper, but if they are included with the other pair of dills, they couldn't have been much good. Posted by Paul1405, Monday, 16 March 2026 5:15:13 AM

So you think teaming up with the U.K. is a great idea ttbn?
Here's Keir Starmer defending Muslims blocking streets to pray. http://youtu.be/qjTpgjQZnPQ?t=383 What do you even support? Do you have any actual principles? What makes Australia Australia What lines do we draw in the sand what makes us different Do you care about sovereignty Or do you just want to be someone else's handmaiden Whether that be the U.S. Israel or the U.K. Canada, NZ. UAE ffs? Wheres like minded? what is that? If you think its all about our Judeo-Christian principles then go kill some kids for Israel What are our principles? What do we stand ? What are we fighting for? Do we stand with the U.S. and Israel and accept a policy of blowing up apartment buildings and attacking civilians as normal in war? Better get it figured out really quick... Democracy makes fighting amongst ourselves a requirement... Forced to try to choose (and then accept) the next least-worst-lying-traitor-dh. I don't choose ANY of these f-wits. Each on comes with baggage. They might have one or two good ideas that 'sound good' in the beginning. But they bring more crap along with them than they are worth. ALL OF THEM. Posted by Armchair Critic, Thursday, 19 March 2026 12:32:22 PM

I support diplomacy, dialogue, and compromise over conflict.
We all owe that to the next generation of Aussies. I don't support sanctions or overthrows or targeting women, kids, journalists, paramedics. I don't support kidnapping, assassinating foreign leaders and dignitaries. I don't care about religions. All this crap because of one bloke named Abraham. Endless shite. I don't care about shiddy foreign countries and their self-created problems that are like cancer to the rest of the planet. I support my Australian culture Beaches, beer, boobs and bikinis, bacon and eggs breakfast, sunday roast, meat fecking pies and a pair of thongs. I'll criticise too many Asians, Lebanese or Indians in the country and then pop straight down to buy my beef in oyster sauce, halal snack pack of mango-butter chicken. Because that's what we do.
