I haven't thought of Australia as being democratic for some time. Just getting to vote for the same people who continue to ignore you after they get in doesn't seem like democracy to me.
And I agree. Preferential voting stinks. It is a protection racket for the uniparty.
It is time for Australian voters to be consulted on immigration. Leaving the decisions to politicians alone has changed Australia beyond recognition.
Apart from the horrible people being let in, and others who never intend to assimilate or even speak English properly, everything about our crazy mass immigration to make the economy look better, is dodgy.
Skilled immigration (that the government lies about) in 2024-25 financial year accounted for less than quarter of all net immigration to Australia (ABS).
Of the 305,000 immigrants only 23% were on skilled visas; 35% on student visas; 30% on working holiday/visitor visas.
About 70% of immigrants on temporary visas stayed here.
The planned level of immigration was exceeded by 120,000. We did OK with an annual intake of about 90,000 for 40 years.
Australian immigration is a scam, run for the interests of the political class, big business, universities and the elites.
Paul Collits (content://media/external/file/1000001314) suggests that mass immigration results from some pathetic regret about our ancestors ‘colonising’ the country: bringing in the “world's hordes”; no need to assimilate to our traditions and values - in fact “better if you don't”. Hence radical Islam, and the colonising of ourselves. To hell with our safety and culture is what the political class has been saying.
With governments not even fulfilling the basic requirement of protecting the country, we need to overturn the entire, rotten system - preferably without a revolution. But it might be the only way to achieve much needed change.
In the meantime, no non-citizens should be permitted to participate political action. Permanent residents should become citizens or leave. And the 100,000 or so visa overstayers should be given the boot - now.
