Queensland Premier, David Chrisfulli, is showing some backbone - going against the decline of his side of politics.

Chrisfulli has told the United Nations that, “You don’t control me and I don't answer to you”.

This spirited response that we once expected from the non-Labor side of politics came following human rights “experts”condemnation of Queensland's measures to deal with youth crime as “incompatible with basic child rights”.

The children in question are rapists, attempted murderers, torturers, and arsonists.

The measures, the UN “experts” say, could have an “especially negative effect” on the indigenous children who are having a negative effect on Queensland society! As well as the twaddle about them being “over represented” in criminal conduct - because of their aboriginality, not because they are just thugs, irrespective of race.

Very unusual for Australian politicians of all brands, the Premier stated that: “I am accountable to Queenslanders, not to the United Nations”.

Love me some fascist tears in the morning. LOL
Long may the country bumpkins go their own way.
Oh how funny will it be to watch them come grovelling back.
As they will. Like the losers they are.
In the meantime Labor can get on with governing and improving Australia.

The conservatives should distance themselves from a wind and solar powered Australia. It won't be pretty to be holding the can when the con becomes apparent to most Australians. Turnbull and Morrison abandoned conservatism by embracing renewable energy.

Hi Fester,

"Turnbull and Morrison abandoned conservatism by embracing renewable energy." No... they did not, energy policy has nothing to do with political philosophy. Its clear from the election result that Australians rejected a pro-nuclear policy as put forward by the Coalition. For better or for worse, Labors renewables is the preferred option, time for everyone to live with it.

As for Conservatism as a preference in our liberal democracy, its not what aspirational Australians prefer and want, they very much embrace a mix of free enterprise, with the added benefits of progressive socialism. Conservatism might appeal to a few Old Farts and diehards on a micro small forum, but it is unlikely to garner anymore than token support with the wider community.

"they need to ignore polls, as John Howard did" and get tossed out of office and lose your own seat at the same time, as Little Johnny Howard did!

"Personal income tax, for those people keeping things going, is far too high", and $60 billion of it is used to support an army of non productive's, living off aged welfare.

Now they look like getting back together again! What a childishness bunch of petulant self-serving idiots the Liberals and Nationals are.

Ley is a dill. Little-to- be-proud-of is a dill. The individual politicians in both parties are dills. The few paying members still rusted on to the parties are dills.

Silly old John Howard is a dill, as is 'don't-worry-it-will-be-alright-just-join-the-party' Tony Abbott.

Thanks to all these dills, the ultra-Left ALP looks like being in power - and dragging the country down - for the foreseeable future.

All because of the biggest dills of all, Australian voters.

Hi Paul,

Yes, renewables have public support, but is a wind and solar powered grid viable? I don't think it is, and if wind and solar do prove to be a failure the conservatives should be there with a viable alternative. By supporting renewables they are just part of the problem.
