Tony Abbott, who won a landslide victory and became Prime Minister in 2013, in an article for the Canadian ‘National Post’ said that he, as PM, was hijacked by “Left-hearted Liberals”.

Members of his cabinet were “snowed” by “progressive” public servant activists”.

That's enough for some people to ask, ‘what is the point of voting when the people we vote for are bossed about by people we don't vote for’.

The small ‘l’ liberals (aka Leftists who have infiltrated the Coalition) took the line that the “experts” know best. Abbott made it clear that he believes that his government was thwarted from the very beginning by a “Leftist Canberra establishment”. And, his ministers were not “sufficiently robust to stand up to officials”.

Abbott, himself a genuine conservative and tough guy, couldn't do anything about it; can a less conservative and not-particularly-impressive Peter Dutton pull the public service into line?

Abbott mentioned that Donald Trump had a similar experience in his first term, and he is not going to allow it to happen this time.

But, Peter Dutton ain't no Donald Trump.

Nor is the Liberal Party like the US Republican party. Mr. Abbott still refers to his party as “centre-Right”. In this cruel world, you have to be right or left: the ‘centre’ is a wishy-washy mess - John Howard's ridiculous “broad church”.

Abbott goes on with what he would do if he had his time over again; but that is irrelevant to the here and now.

Of course a Dutton-led government would be better than the awful Albanese Labor failed experiment. But that's not saying much.

Heads of Departments must exit when their Government exits ! That'd be a small step towards some sort of democratic system of governing.

As long as Dutton doesn't do a Campbell Newman or a Tony Abbott he'll be making the changes this Nation needs. He has to refrain from making the same mistakes of listening to Left orientated experts & consult people who know in the field ! Do not sack anyone, let natural attrition do its thing & only step in when utter incompetence is easily proven & then published !
Such moves need to have the public's consent !

Indyvidual,

Good idea. It's a pity that it is almost impossible to sack public servants. No matter who is in government, the PS, never changes, and so far we haven't had politicians with the balls to properly serve the electorate by telling the mandarins to pull their heads in or get another job. Too many politicians like those who trashed Abbott's promises. And the same sorts of politicians in his government and other Coalition governments are still infesting the Coalition.

It is a truism that the Coalition is more often in government than the other side, but never in actual power.

ttbn,
Dutton would be well advised to rid the Public Service of the Peter Principle because if this system is allowed to continue no Government will ever have power here ! He must DeFRaG that unaffordable superfluous outfit ! Only then can recovery begin !

Politicians don't take advice from the likes of us. We just pay them to be useless. Any advise they do take is likely to be from the public "service". Look what happened to Abbott.

The only thing we can do is stop voting for the uniparty. Ignore what they say about hung parliaments just because they frighten the sh.it out of them, and they lose supreme power that are used to. The more people and the more views in parliament the better in my view.
