“The truth is that Australia is historically and still to a large degree a British nation, albeit one which has welcomed people in from cultures all around the world to enjoy the fruits of the British traits I listed above”. (Stephen Chavura, Spectator Australia)

The myth of multicultural essentialism is one of the most “detrimental pieces of propaganda” inflicted on Australians over the past 30 years, when the education system started preaching that “Australia's culture is multiculturalism”. Other countries have a culture, but Australia only has a “collection” of coexisting cultures, according to the propaganda and brainwashing.

As Chavura points out, Australia was not settled by a “tossed salad” of Greeks, Italians, Chinese and a 100 other nationalities; it was settled by Britain, with British ideas. Great Britain influenced language, expressions of Christianity, tastes in sport, economic system, literature, forms of entertainment, security alliances, and even our sense of humour.

Our sense of identity has been weakened by the multiculturalism myth in order to enable ideological movements such as Aboriginal grievance, cultural Marxist Wokeism, and Islamism to have an unopposed walk-through in reshaping our laws, education system, and nation as a whole.

The truth is that Australia is historically, and still to a large degree, a British nation, albeit one which has welcomed people from cultures all around the world to enjoy the fruits of British values and freedoms. We have been hypnotised by activists and the likes of th ABC into believing otherwise. Britishness is portrayed as bad by a minority but loud Fifth Column.

Chavura sees the most pernicious effect of multicultural nonsense in an immigration scheme that has produced “deeply divisive sub-communities and social trauma, every now and then exploding unto ugliness and violence”. And the pre-existing culture has been too degraded by the Fifth Column to stop it.

The British heritage that made Australia what it is is being slowly but surely uprooted. People who hate Australia want that, of course. They had better hope that they are dead and gone before the disease of multiculturalism finishes the country off for good.

Dear Ttbn,

«Our sense of identity has been weakened by [whatever...]»

Sense of identity is a false sense.
Whether that be national identity, racial identity, cultural identity, gender identity, class identity, or whatever, even human identity - that sense, that identification, is in error.
In truth, we are not identical to anything.
In truth we are unique and unlimited.

So, if something (multiculturalism in this specific case) can weaken our sense of identity, then that is a blessing, then it should be welcomed.

«The British heritage that made Australia what it is is being slowly but surely uprooted»

It is tectonic movements which made (and slowly keep remaking) Australia what it is.
Man did not make Australia, nor can man destroy it.

Funny how before diversity made us stronger, there was less crime, better wages, affordable houses, better health care, rigorous education, less social angst, no issues of integration, no fixation on 'racism', more national confidence and grooming just meant getting a haircut.

The big part of our culture that some people want to overlook; that separates us from most other countries; that immigrants know full well when they come here - is the fact that we are a Constitutional Monarchy. And, a majority of Australians like it, no matter what their racial and cultural background is. Our biggest problem is weak, self-serving politicians who now have nothing in common with the rest of us. They play us off against each other with quite deliberate identity politics - obsessions with differences, scrabbling for votes from people whom they insultingly believe all think they same way because of race, religion or cultural background.

It all comes back to the poor quality of the political class.

If politicians are not pulled into line over multiculturalism and mass immigration, we could be seeing the end of Western civilisation. It is being mobbed by the Third World with the connivance of our politicians.

Senator Ralph Babet often says something sensible.

“Everything that has held Western society together – from the nuclear family to the power grid – is being dismantled before our very eyes.

The foundations upon which the West has been built over thousands of years are being ripped up by people who haven’t the faintest clue about how, or with what, to replace them”.

I really don't think that there is much hope for Australia, given our useless political class.

I note that Dutton won't take the cue from Trump and drop the economy-choking Paris Agreement and Net Zero. Australia will always be an outlier, I'm afraid: the poor white trash at arse end of the world.

Getting rid of the Albanese government will only really be tinkering at the edges. Dutton makes zero impression on me. Exactly the same on the climate scam, can't be trusted on immigration, same on multiculturalism, won't defund the Australian Broadcasting Communists, and differing from Labor only on piddling, feel-good matters.

Dutton claims that he would get along better with Trump than Albanese would. That would be up Trump, and I think Dutton, with the personality and attraction of a dead fish, is kidding himself.

If any of America's allies needs a kick up the arse, it is Australia. I hope Trump is not too polite to do it.

I used to blame voters for Australia's problems; but hey, what can they do about it with the rubbish available to them to vote for. The US has primary voting; we are stuck with the compliant drones that corrupt, self-serving parties choose for us.

As Europe and the US move towards the right, Australia moves to the left. The only country sillier is New Zealand, where they have just awarded human-type rights to a mountain.

We are seeing multiculturalism at work with now regular anti-Semitic, anti-Western demonstrations on the streets of our cities where the plethora of foreign cultures like to flock.

ASIO now predicts a “greater than 50 percent chance of a terrorist attack in the next 12 months” because of Labor’s pandering to an imagined Muslim community vote.

We have already had a firebombing and numerous attacks on one particular group of Australian citizens. These people are testing the waters, and getting little or no reaction from our useless government and police.

First, the Jews, then the rest of us.

While other world leaders are seeking out Trump, Albanese is lying low. Dutton hasn't indicated that he would be different. Both of them seem to have the gall to think that they can ‘deal with Trump’, the man we are cactus without.

And, no yap about loss of sovereignty, please. We are gradually turning that over to a Communist dictatorship as it is. If, as seems to be the case, we can't look after ourselves, America is the only place to turn - if a Trump America will have us.

It is predicted by people who actually know what they are talking about, that Trump will challenge Australia just as he has Canada on burden sharing. There will be a “big talk” about AUKUS and our defence spending. No less than 3% of GDP will be required.

It won't matter if it's Albanese or Dutton.

Labor’s foreign policy shift in favour of Palestinian jihadis has been interpreted as giving carte blanche to Israel and Jew-haters to terrorise peace-loving Australians in general and Jewish Australians in particular.

. Since October 7, there have been 2062 attacks on Jews, plus the Adass synagogue firebombing. Shades of the Nazi ‘Kristallnacht. So much for Australia being the “most successful multicultural country in the world! The latest atrocity was against a child-care centre.

. Police have failed to enforce the law. They just tell Jews to stay home. On the few occasions terrorist supporters have been prosecuted, no sentences have been imposed.

. Police protect the “right” of terrorist sympathisers to gather in public, wave their flags, burn the flags of law-abiding states, launch flares, and shout antisemitic threats and obscenities, but they don’t protect Jews.

2062? That's far less than one would expect during Jewish genocide.
Should I offer my fellow Aussies gold stars for being reasonably well behaved?
Or frown faces for being TOO-well behaved?

Lets face it, if there was no pushback at all during a genocide, One might probably find that MUCH MORE concerning overall.

There is mounting evidence that civic virtue is decaying in Australia and that a crisis of citizenship is upon us. Multiculturalism and “diversity “ is weakening Australia. Cultures adverse to the Australian Christian/Anglo Celtic culture are becoming more dangerous. The first generation of Australian born children of immigrants are the biggest problem. They don’t fit in, or don’t want to fit in.

The Scanlon Foundation research shows a long term decline in a ‘sense of pride and belonging’ in Australia. The most recent indication of decline is reflected in a score of 91 in 2007 dropping to 78 in 2023.

Commitment to the Australian way of culture and life is diminishing. Commitment dropped from 65% in 2007 down to 40% in 2023.

Identify politics have subverted the “liberal ideal” creating a country of strangers using “rights” as a shield to protect them from views they don't like.

The Australian political class, particularly the Left, have cultivated the situation with an official policy of multiculturalism that was not voted for by citizens.

Yuyutsu,

“Well, Ttbn, I am not leaving, this is my home - what are you going to do?”

I only noticed your post after I had posted this morning. I no longer ‘surf’ to see what other people think.

I'm not going to “do” anything except express my opinions, which will have no more influence than yours or those of any other posters here.

Your posting history indicates, to me at least, that you are an unhappy and discontented person who would be that way wherever you live. You left Israel because you didn't like it, and you don't seem to like Australia either. You should think about what you are doing to yourself rather than what I or anyone else might do to you.

Dear Ttbn,

Interesting why you deduce that I am unhappy and discontented:
what have my views to do with my personal life, which you hardly know about?

Yes, my values are different, but why on earth should they coincide with the Christian/Anglo-Saxon/Celtic culture? Before your people came to Australia there were aboriginal people here, so should my values coincide with theirs too?

Capturing hungry people for stealing a loaf of bread, then sending them abroad in chains on a torturous journey for 7 or 14 years of hard labour and whips, never to see their families again - doesn't such behaviour resemble the Hamas' kidnapping? Is this the culture you are so proud of? Is it less primitive than the preceding, aboriginal, culture?

And this arrogant belief as if the land is yours to dominate, in the name of the Empire on which the sun never sets, how different is it from the Communist Chinese culture and its land-grab of neighbouring territories?

And do I need to repeat the horrors of the Christian culture, which David F (whom I miss) used to so succinctly describe, fraudulently posing as a religion, such atrocities due to which religion today is looked down upon?

I am mostly a busy, active and happy person and participating in OLO is just a fraction of my life, where I get the opportunity to communicate my views and values, allowing readers to expand their limited views that are largely based on early brainwashing by an unjust culture desperately trying to preserve itself.

Thanks CM,

There is more against mass immigration and multiculturalism than there is for it. There financial situation alone - the lies about how good it is - is just one.

Any financial gain from immigration is often offset by added demands on public services, infrastructure and housing. Not to mention the ‘confusion’ caused by alien cultures that prevail forever, thanks to the diktat (imposed by the powerful without consent) of multiculturalism that discourages assimilation.

Australian Treasury figures show that, while the benefits of immigration of even ‘skilled’ migrants to Australia are $198 k per capita, the “family and humanitarian migrants is minus $126,000 and $400,000, respectively”. (Ramesh Thakur, ‘Importing the third world’).

Dear Ttbn,

«Any financial gain from immigration is often offset by added demands on public services, infrastructure and housing.»

But who ever asked government to mix up their finances with that of immigrants? Who told them to provide public services, infrastructure or housing for anyone? That is all of their own making!

«thanks to the diktat (imposed by the powerful without consent) of multiculturalism that discourages assimilation.»

There is no diktat: any migrant who wishes to assimilate can freely do so!
If they don't, then you may like to check yourself - why is your culture not competitive? Why does it not lure others? What can you improve to attract others to adopt it?

«Thanks CM,»

Thanks for what? For suggesting that you remigrate to England?
I thought that suggestion was rude, I thought this was your home too - this land belongs to neither of us!

Both refuse to confront the blatant communism in universities and the ABC. Both are addicted to mass immigration and cultural relativism.

Albanese or Dutton - They're both unelectable.

Albo, that guy should be imprisoned for the remainder of his days for what he's done with immigration.

I can imagine him in a Pauline Hanson cartoon bragging about how everyone is building new houses in their old backyards and that he's the champion of tiny homes.

Turned the country into a sardine factory.

And Dutton, that guy is too Pro-Israel - so pro Israel he should just register as a foreign agent and rename the LNP 'The Israel First Party'.

Albo can't stay on, but Dutton shouldn't even get the opportunity.
So there's no lesser evil this time around.

- None of the above -

Kudos ttbn and Armchair Critic. Yes reform of the universities and the ABC needs to start with new leadership perhaps using ex-Military to replace executive team and heads of schools and departments as well as Anti-Marxist training and policies to remove the Marxist roots that have taken hold within Australian institutions. The Marxist's have taught us how to do it, with their sending down systems. A check of social media and other checks could be done with new hires and existing personnel to remove those with allegiance to global authoritarian Marxism rather than local Australia. The union's need to replace their leadership too. Perhaps Association rules can be used to disavow Marxist's from positions of leadership within the union movement, a purgatory or hell similar to Dante's vision, probably similar to the circle designed for confidence artists and tricksters. Greats such as Trump, and Javier Melei have shown us a recipe. Bring on the chainsaw.

Mass immigration poses an existential threat to all Western countries - Australia in our case; and we need a reassessment as to what level and what type of immigration, if any, makes sense. Social cohesion is a priority - we need a shared sense of national identity; current Australian citizens should be put first. The current system is not doing that. The Australian economy needs to be significantly restructured so that it is not reliant on immigration for growth.

Since the Cronulla riots - an example of the risks of multiculturalism - the number of imports from the Middle East and Africa has risen from around 193,000 to 800, 000.

Lesson not learnt.

We now have anti-Semitic/Anti-Israel (used to be a friend of ours)/ anti-Western/anti-Australian mobs of thugs regularly abusing our hospitality on our own streets.

And still we have mass immigration, multiculturalism, promotion of Islam, and people refusing to assimilate. How stupid are our politicians and bureaucrats. The latter will always be there no matter which stupid politicians we vote for. There seems to be nothing we can do.

Bozonese has done nothing. Who knows whether Dutton will do anything? Dutton has already said that he is not going to be much different from Albanese on all manner of things.

It's all very well for apologists and self-hating Australians to say that only a minority of these multicultural types are a problem; but it's the ones we never hear from, the sympathisers, that are going to be a problem if our pathetically weak “leaders” don't crack down on the obvious thugs.

Western hatred of Jews is rooted in the Christian belief that the Jew was responsible for the death of Christ. When Theodosius I decreed in 380AD that Christianity was the official state religion of the Roman Empire the position of Judaism become untenable. The conviction become that the Jews had crucified Jesus and that their descendants bore hereditary guilt for the deed because they had never repudiated it.

Ambrose, bishop of Mediolanum wrote, "Whom do (the Jews) have to avenge the synagogue? Christ whom they have killed, whom they have denied? Or will God the Father avenge them, whom they do not acknowledge as Father since they do not acknowledge the Son?" Later, Pope Gregory I tried to have Jews forcibly converted to Christianity, In many regions of Europe Jews who refused Christian baptism were forced into slavery.

No truly democratic society can be as radically multicultural as Australian society - or rather its political class - is.

A truly democratic country depends for its successful renewal across the generations on a culture that is held in common. It doesn't need a shared religion or racial homogeneity, but it does need widespread acceptance of certain norms and behaviour and a sense of shared nationality. (Professor John Gray, Oxford).

This doesn't describe Australia, “where the Albanese government aspires to replace our traditional values with alternative codes of morality that are based not on familiar, accepted principles but on new and recondite ones, as if designed for another culture or tribe”. (Moens & Zimmermann, ‘Australia: a land divided into tribes’)

The Left loves to divide people by race; and it divides us up under white culture, black culture and indigenous culture in this country, and special interest groups.

We are not treated as individuals with unique minds and talents. We are defined by the colour of our skin, by the country in which we were born, by the religion we practice.

Multiculturalism favours only a few elitists and favoured minorities.

Multiculturalism also imprisons newcomers who often aspire to free themselves from traditions they thought they were escaping from.

Dear Ttbn,

«Multiculturalism also imprisons newcomers who often aspire to free themselves from traditions they thought they were escaping from.»

Can you point me to even one case of a newcomer imprisoned here on such grounds?

Since nothing presently stops newcomers to Australia from forsaking their old traditions, if so they choose, then either:

1) Australia is not multicultural; or
2) The above statement is incorrect.

We have a free market here: if you think that your culture is superior, then go ahead and compete fairly over the souls of those who arrive in Australia - then let the better person win!

---

Dear Paul,

«Western hatred of Jews is rooted in the Christian belief that the Jew was responsible for the death of Christ»

Firstly, there were no Jews at the time of Christ:
Judaism as we know it did not yet exist, there were just Judeans then, whose religion and culture were so different to today's Jews.

Now indeed, this ugly murder of Jesus by crucifixion was the result of Judean political in-fighting (the Roman governor only acted as a rubber-stamp, had no interest in the matter and literally washed his hands off it). Now that being an internal Judean affair, what stake have others in it?

My take is that the main reason Jews are hated in the West, is that they [presumably] introduced the Christian church with all its killjoy restrictions and fear of hell into the West's former pagan happy-go-lucky carefree world.

Attacks on Jews and their property have become more frequent, more flagrant and more dangerous. There is an ongoing threat.

In what is probably Australia's nastiest and most dangerous state, NSW, Strike Force Pearl, with around 100 police officers, is increasing investigations into anti-Semitism and attacks on Jews. Stiffer penalties are being requested. At last.

An explosive-packed caravan seems to have rattled a few cages.

ASIO: “One of the key reasons we raised the threat level in August 2024 was because we anticipated spikes in politically motivated violence. Unfortunately, the security environment has evolved almost exactly as we expected.”

Are we ‘getting it’ yet? There is still a 50% chance of a terrorist attack in Australia in the next 12 months, according to ASIO.

Conditions are well past the stage of piddling comments about how Muslims are ‘hurting’ as much as Jews, when the serious stuff - terrorism - is directed at Jews only. No lists of Muslim targets for violence have been found. It's Jews only.

And, in this situation, Anthony Albanese is as useless as tits on a bull; security authorities are not even bothering to tell him anything. Who can blame them for not bothering with him when he has made it clear that anti-Semitism and the rise of terrorism is a problem he does not want to face. Albanese is a fake leader: PM by accident or some awful mistake.

The woke could never accept that a black man like Mr. Sowell disagrees with their ideology. They wouldn't be able to cope with it.

People aren't against multiculturalism as such, they're simply against being engulfed by Middle East enclaves. When you look at the situation world-wide, no other religions make as much fuss as the ones from that region. There are people from all places on Earth in Australia but generally, it's only due to those groups that people here & in Europe see multiculturalism as a failure !

22-year-old Sydney woman Yasmin Mansour was found guilty of sending this message to a Jewish school …

“You are the children of Satan.

“…get cancer and die a slow, painful death.

“Enjoy your day. I hope it’s your last.

“Praise Hitler. If only he was here to continue the mass destruction of your bloodline.”

No conviction recorded!

Dear Indyvidual,

«it's only due to those groups that people here & in Europe see multiculturalism as a failure !»

Unless they already to begin with oppose having to share the land with people of other ethnicities and cultures, then use the Mohammedans as the perfect pretext to justify their elitism.

Yuyutsu,
Why do people flock to Western Nations in the first place ? I realise there are several reasons but this also depends on where they come from.
In the USA most are from Latin America to seek better economic conditions whereas those from the Middle East have a political agenda.
Which group do you think is the more genuinely needy ? And, which group do you think is hell-bent in disrupting the host country ? Which countries have taken in more refugees than others & what do you think might have changed many to start thinking what you referred to as "oppose having to share the land with people of other ethnicities and cultures" I'll make it easy for you, just watch videos from Europe & America !

Indy,

You really are pathetic in your insulated from reality little world, "those from the Middle East have a political agenda". The vast majority of migrants, refugees whatever you want to call them, from wherever they come, do not have a "political agenda". In fact you, a refugee yourself, demonstrate an extreme political agenda on this very forum, perhaps we should cut of your welfare, and give you the boot!

Dear Indyvidual,

I don't ask people why they want to come - I respect their privacy.

I don't believe that many immigrants "flock to Western Nations" or to any other nations for that matter (though Israel may be an abnormal exception) - instead, as in my own case, people wish to live in certain countries, regions or continents and it only so happens that there are already other people living there, some of whom considering themselves a "nation" (what a nonsensical concept) and think they own that land. For the typical immigrant their presence is only a nuisance, not an inspiration, yet usually a nuisance they can tolerate and live with.

I don't think that anyone needs to actively take in refugees or give them anything, yet when refugees do arrive, nobody has a moral right to kick them out either - unless of course if they come for the purpose of disrupting the existing population, but these I believe are just a handful and mostly mentally ill, or unless they cannot help but disrupt others.

Indeed, I acknowledge that certain Muslim people (not all) cannot help but disrupt others because they are extremely sexually suppressed on arrival and cannot cope well when encountering a permissive, tantalising society. Still, while they might end up disrupting, they do not originally come with the intention to disrupt. I think that introducing sexual-acclimatisation programs can help there. Though the Quran may be cited as an excuse for that suppression, the true problem is not Islam, but Middle-Eastern culture.

The people who oppose having to share the land with people of ALL other ethnicities and cultures, not specifically with Muslims, typically do so because they were taught as children that their race and/or culture are superior and privileged. This is quite different from others who are essentially happy to share but understandably find they have practical difficulties with sexually-suppressed arrivals.

Yuyutsu,
Whilst I feel for people who are persecuted I also feel for those who end up having to disrupt their lives to deal with refugees.
The question as to who has the responsibility to deal with the welfare of refugees is the issue. My question is why are people refugees in the first place ? Should refugees be considered refugees only in countries they choose to come to ? Why don't they stop being refugees once they're away from their oppressors ? Should refugees be supplied with the means of going back to fight their oppressors instead of simply let take over without resistance ?

Dear Indyvidual,

Your questions are based on the distorted reality that was artificially created by the UNHCR refugee convention.

In my view, this convention caused more damage than good, and should be dropped.

Only some 100 years ago, people were able to freely migrate around the world: they did not have to be considered "refugees" for that or prove that they were persecuted, nor did they receive any financial support from the state they arrived in. Most often, they were supported by their own ethnic communities, by those who arrived before them, or from other philanthropic bodies - or else they starved.

This state of affairs ought to be restored, allowing anyone to go anywhere, subject only to fulfilling three basic tests: character, non-terrorism and no infectious diseases.

Indy,

I assume you were one of many post war European immigrants in search of a better life. Much of Europe was a bombed out wreck, which Europeans had inflicted on themselves. Some of course were Nazi collaborators fleeing retribution. I had many migrant friends in those day, and I still have. I take people as I find them, and the vast majority are good people, just seeking a better life for themselves and their families.

You asked about success, I come in contact with a youth charity, that specialises in rehabilitation programs for young people, pathway to the future, kids who have gone astray. They have great success, not with everyone, but with many. You, only see the end result of neglect of children, crime, drugs anti-social behavior, you don't understand the horrendous up-bring many have suffered, no wonder they are the way they are!

Indy,

Unfortunately you try to equate what are social problems with a particular political philosophy, calling it the fault of "Leftist Social engineering fostered by Labor do-gooder". You have the false notion that disadvantaged kids are simply the product of political interference, no they are not, they are the product of social disadvantage.

You want government to give you security from societies misfits, so you want tough end action in the form of long mandatory sentences for those who offend, more jail time, you think that will keep you safe, no it wont!

Indy,

You speak from a point of ignorance. You most likely have zero experience with troubled youth, you see the end result, but you don't understand the root causes. You invent some rubbish explanation which suits your particular politic philosophy. You believe things would be fine if only those "Woke expert Social Engineers" weren't in control of the up-bring of young people who turn out as anti-social misfits, committing crime. The causes are much closer to home, a failed or nonexistent home life contributes to many a failure. You of course have the simple solution, some regimented army style boot camp through a very expensive national service. You are dreaming.

Paul1405,
Just because you don't like the evidence doesn't make your wishful thinking fact ! What is it with your silly obsession about boot camps ? Were you kicked out of one for paying too much attention to the young ones ? If you're so warped that you see discipline as something bad then you really have more of a problem then most fruit loops running free !
I don't care what anyone says but a disciplined & respectful, considerate person will never be a problem to society, on the contrary. When most decent folk are trying to create harmony you et al are trying to sabotage any good will.
That's why Multiculturalism has not worked anywhere yet because of people like you !
