Remember the Button Plan? The progressive reduction in tariffs, & increases in local content. This forced car makers to pay excessively high prices for components which were simply uneconomic to manufacture here while facing increasingly cheaper imports.

The slow death was aided by ridiculous wage demands by unions. I think a fair days pay for a fair days work is a great idea, but someone needs to get the warfies & process workers to agree to get the idea to work.

The Australia public are well aware of who are most responsible for creating Australia's TRILLION DOLLARS OF DEBT. Debt is not entirely a bad thing, when the money is put to good use and is at a manageable level. What we got from the pair of LIBERAL PARTY dim wits, ScumO' and Friedbrain, was total irresponsibility in borrowing billions, and squandering the lot, with "free money" with no strings attached, to billionaires from their side of politics.
