We really do have to acknowledge that this is all about protecting jobs. The problem for the nation is that the jobs they're trying to protect are those of union officils.

SR,

I see you peddling misinformation and outright lies again.

During the Krudd/Juliar regime, 3 of 6 car makers folded and 75% of jobs in the industry were lost. By the time the coalition came to power the car industry subsidy was already more than all the wages of all the employees combined and the industry was still losing $bns. Labor killed the car industry, the coalition just pulled the plug on the corpse.

As for this "A fair day's wage for a fair day's work." this is Labor once again doing the bidding of its Union bosses. That it is going to completely screw up the gig economy and push up the cost of just about everything, the reality is that it is almost certain to destroy full-time jobs and simply create a new form of contracting where the last people to benefit are the employees.

Whitlam, Gillard & Rudd's Vote-buying via the Public Service Unions got us to the dilemma we're faced with now.
Revenue doesn't come from these unproductive voters, it comes from those whom the ignorant intellectuals refer to as the uneducated. It just shows the elite-like condescending mentality they have towards common sense & logical thinkers & do'ers.
One just has to look at where 99.9% of intellectuals are concentrated, the various Govt bureaucracies that's where.
The ABC mob for example demands Qantas pay back the help they got from the Govt. Why not ask for the ABC/SBS to pay back the money they received during the pandemic ? None of them did it tough during those times. What did they produce or sell to create revenue ?

Indy,

Where does your unproductive welfare, come from? You must admit your migration to Australia has imposed nothing more than a net loss on the Australian taxpayer. Is it not hard working disadvantaged taxpayers you have lived off for years. Why do you begrudge these Australians a fair pay?

This job-destroying legislation is brought to us by the same clowns that have brought us a per capita recession.

"Australia’s economy grew a mere 0.4% in the June quarter according to figures released by the Bureau of Statistics today, a performance Treasurer Jim Chalmers describes as “steady in the face of unrelenting pressure”.

The lacklustre growth follows growth of 0.4% in the previous quarter, and is a step down from the growth of 0.7% in the quarters that preceded it, presenting a stark reminder of the economic challenges caused by rising interest rates as the Reserve Bank attempts to reign in inflation.

If growth continued at that pace for another two quarters, the annual growth rate would barely reach 1.6%, an alarmingly low figure. For many Australians it probably feels like a recession, because all of the growth was accounted for by population growth, meaning gross domestic product (GDP) per person fell by 0.3% in both March and the June quarters, in a so-called “per capita recession”.
