Palestine - UN Security Council flirts with racist fantasyland : Comments

By David Singer, published 5/1/2009

The UN, by its silence, has endorsed collective punishment - something not to be tolerated for Gazan Arabs - as being perfectly acceptable for West Bank Jews.

The United Nations is a sty of pigs that are unwilling to take their fat heads out of the trough and disband the whole corrupt, useless organisation. Australians should be disgusted that our country is part of such a vile, hypocritical gang.

Mr Singer critises the UN for silence which he interprets as collective punishment, at a time when Israel is bombing civilian homes, the University and infrastructure in Gaza killing 400 people including women and children.

The Israeli PR machine is alive - but not very well, if that is the best he can do.

Self defence from a few home-made rockets is the given reason for their genocide.

Come on! You are starting to believe your own propaganda.

Good comment Leigh, and Stan1, you're shocking.

The media is utterly and disgustingly behind the terrorist Palestinians who voted for their genocidal government.

If you ask me, and as the Arab terrorists who kill us on trains and planes say to us, you voted for them - so you deserve what you get.

99% of Muslims support Hamas, both here and abroad.

What would you propose to do to stop the rockets? Or do you not think there is anything wrong with that because you're a Jew hater too?

Hamas needs to be crippled, toppled, as do the filthy bigots who voted them in.

The very fact that the killer Hamas leader who thought Israel wouldn't bomb because his 4 wives and their litters were present shows that even HAMAS know Israel is more civilised than they are (they who send disabled minors to kill Israeli women and kids).

I say bomb the crap out of the homophobic, misogynstic, bigots.

Those who complain Palestinian kids are dying are laughable. They're already dead. If you really care about them, stop their vile hateful TV indoctrination of children.

Ex-Muslims here, and some Muslims, like Tanveer Ahmed, have admitted that in every Muslim household he ever went to, white women are sluts, infidels deserve to die, and Jews must be slaughtered.

Not hard to see they think this when you look at their rat infested homelands.

Send them back. Unborn babies and all.

An invention called'the Jewish people'By Tom Segev

Israel's'Declaration_of_Independence'states that the Jewish people arose in the Land of Israel and were exiled from its'homeland'.

Wrong, says the historian Shlomo-Zand...There never was a'Jewish people',only a Jewish-religion,and the exile also never happened..hence there was no return.

Zand rejects most of the stories of national-identity formation in the Bible, including the exodus from Egypt, and, the horrors of the conquest under Joshua...It's all fiction and myth that served as an excuse for the establishment of the State of Israel,he asserts;the Romans did not generally exile whole nations, and most of the Jews were permitted to remain in the country...It follows that the progenitors of the Palestinian Arabs were Jews...Zand did not invent this thesis;30 years before the Declaration of Independence,it was espoused by David Ben-Gurion,Yitzhak Ben-Zvi and others.

If the majority of the Jews were not exiled, how is it that so many of them reached almost every country on earth?

Zand quotes from many existing studies, some of which were written in Israel but shunted out of the central discourse..The first Jews of Ashkenaz Germany)did not come from the Land of Israel and did not reach Eastern Europe from Germany, but became Jews in the Khazar Kingdom in the Caucasus.

Zand explains the origins of Yiddish culture:it was not a Jewish import from Germany, but the result of the connection between the offspring of the Kuzari and Germans who traveled to the East, some of them as merchants.

We find, then, that the Zionist need to devise for them a shared ethnicity and historical continuity produced a long series of inventions and fictions, along with an invocation of racist theses...Some were concocted in the minds of those who conceived the Zionist movement, while others were offered as the findings of genetic studies conducted in Israel.

Prof.Zand teaches at Tel Aviv University. His book,"When and How Was the Jewish People Invented?" published by Resling in Hebrew),is intended to promote the idea that Israel should be a"state of all its citizens"-Jews,Arabs and others..[ie all semites]-in contrast to its declared identity as a "Jewish and democratic" state.

many Israelis will be astonished to read for the first time.

Sometimes I despair at trying to make rational arguments in these posts, but because of the current destruction of Gaza, I thought I would try again.

My comment was useful however because it brought about a response from Benjam1n which eloquently displays the intensity of racial hatred by some Jews. No I am not a Jew-hater, Benjamin. I am just opposed to the expansionist policies in Israel based on some biblical myth.

"What would you propose to do to stop the rockets?" Easy - just get out of the occupied territories and stay within your original borders.

COLLECTIVE PUNISHMENT.....

David Singer is correct.. there is great unbalance between the objectives of the Palestinian/Islamist sympathizers in the UN on this issue.

INDISCRIMINANT MISSILES launched at random civilian targets.. is... COLLECTIVE punishment. Hamas is GUITY of this.

Even while Israel is punishing them for this, and being very selective about it..they are STILL hurling as many rockets as they can at the same women and children in playgrounds and nurseries in Sderot, Beer Sheba, Ashkelon etc...

DAVID.. I'm emailing you (Via OLO) about an important matter.. I hope you respond.

Polycarp

You don't get it. Those Hamas rockets are not fireworks, they destroy, they kill. The fact that they have not killed that many so far is because Israel has an efficient civil defence just as England had when the Nazis bombed London. Hamas has no civil defence, it launches rockets from next to schools and homes, stores explosives in their basements, then screams foul when Israeli strikes on missile launchers inadvertently cause nearby explosive packed buildings to blow up.

Have a look at this excerpt from the Hamas Charter 1988.

"The prophet, prayer and peace be upon him, said: The time will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill them); until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim! there is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him! "

Hamas is not very nice. It is a fascist, fundamentalist religious sect who if they are allowed will place women in bondage, not just in Gaza, but in Australia if they could get here.

As for getting out of the territories, Israel did that in Gaza, were you asleep at the time? What was the result - 8000 rockets.

one under god

That speculation about the Ashenazi Jews was blown up completely when they did DNA tests. Don't tell me there are still believers in that rubbish.

I think I agree with Iran's President with the difficult name, if the Americans like their Jews so much why not spend the billions America spends each each year propping up the Apartheid-like regime in Tel Aviv, by locating the few million Jews to the USA.

That way all of the former mandate of Palestine can be for the Arabs ..

Dear Stan1 .. mate.. you seem to be long on sentimentality and short on critical analysis and fact.

You said:

Self defence from a few home-made rockets is the given reason for their genocide.

Firstly.. there have been THOUSANDS of those 'home made' rockets which kill just as well and in a less choosy manner than the store bought variety.
They target CHILDREN.. as much as adults, and over the years around 400 Israelis have been killed. So.. imagine IF...those rockets had GPS guidance..(something I myself could technologically do!) and hit specific high population targets!?

NOW..part 2 of your dabble into mythology. "their GENOCIDE"..now fairs fair.. *THINK* That's an emotive word.. a good soundbite but wayyyyyy off the mark. It is simply factually incorrect to put it kindly. IF..Israel wished to eliminate the Arabs of Gaza..they could do so in a matter of days.

SOLUTION.
1/ Hamas stops firing rockets. and handss over all stockpiled rockets for destruction.
2/ Hamas renounces violence against Israel
3/ Hamas agrees to NO more TUNNELS.
4/ Hamas agrees to INTERNATIONAL independant monitors to verify no tunnels.
5/ Hamas renounces all the 'obliterate Israel' aspects of it's charter.
6/ Hamas and Islamic Jihad agree NOT to use crossings to send homicide bombers.

SOLVED.
Because all of Israel's objectives for this current campaign have been met..and they simply go away and re-open the crossings :) (back to Israel)

BUT... you try.. just TRY to get Hamas to agree to all that..and pigs will surely fly. Hence...the operation.. tragic as it is.

Hey, can I get in on this reasoned, evidence-based debate?

Let's see...

All Muslims, everywhere, hold exactly the same opinions and perspectives.

The traditional Palestinian greeting is a punch in the face.

Israelis don't produce faeces. Rather, they defecate a sweet, fluffy substance composed of their heavenly goodness and purity.

Palestinian children are born evil and can't wait to grow up and be napalmed.

Killing a pregnant woman with a high-tech fuel-air missile is completely different to killing her with a suicide bomb - that's just murder.

Like Aasimov's robots, Israelis are fundamentally incapable of doing anything wrong or immoral, therefore it's safe to assume their actions are always right.

As a 6'5" man, I have the right to defend myself against toddlers by beating them to death if they blow raspberries at me. And their mothers should praise my tolerance if I only bash them to the point of brain damage.

When Israel rules the Middle East, Jesus Christ will return.

Barack Obama is a secret Muslim.

If you disagree with any of that, you're a rabid anti-Semite, so I don't have to back it up with proof.

Surely, this latest Israeli attack must rank as amongst the most manipulative and cynical in ME history. The Israeli PM unleashed his forces in Lebanon and came off badly tarnished. Now with his popularity flagging badly and an election next month he unleashes the Israeli military machine once again. He hopes to improve his standing in the polls and regain some kudos for the Israeli military juggernaught. The fact that he had to resign due to a corruption investigation surprises no one - we can all see how Israeli society is corrupt to its rotten core.

The timing is a piece of cynical brilliance. The Israelis are worried the new President will not give them the green light to murder at will, so they took advantage of a lame duck and told him what they were going to do. Bush then had no alternative but to come out in support of the Israelis or he would look even weaker and more ineffectual than he already is.

So for the sake of the Israeli and US political cycle we get hundreds of dead Palestinians and thousands of injured. Lives ruined for ever so a corrupt Israeli politician can further the interests of a society gone wrong.

Then we get this fool Singer claiming the UN is racist! Really, these people have no shame.

Mr Rudd has an opportunity to be a leader in International Affairs here. I believe what I have heard from PM Mr Rudd and Ms Gillard is not the policies/indicators I heard in China or Japan on Human Rights.

The Historical Issues here are central. The economic issues underlying the Oslo Accord to do with trade, property and respect for the process on the Palestinia side which needs to be revisited - if only to recheck in real terms, accountablities, and the socially inclusive promises.

You said Fair Go.... for ALL?

Mr Rudd I believe you do understand the Strong Spirit. What is a life worth if the landscape is cramped with systemic oppressive realities. I ask you to imagine the plight of Hamas [anger and frustration] and consider the issues through all the smoke screen. These are cross-cultural issues we need as a globe to understand better if we are to really curb the violence.

I believed you understood development issues when you spoke initially on the need to do something about Opium farming in Afghanistan. You had the Nation learning something and begining to support the real issues as we began to learn together the possiblities of Change.

I fear if you don't do something constructive we all look to Obama which is a) Unfair for one Man with so much potentional and b) He becomes cornored by the rhetoric we are being cornored with now.

We need problem solvers. A kid at risk must have a Friend and Mentor. "Yes" Must Mean "Yes" and Not Yes but mean NO. This is something normal people have but something people in dysfunctional environments are extra senstitive to given the repetition of such troubles,

Please Mr Rudd. There are too many playing out the administrive gelatinous powwow. This is unsafe for the justice issues, for people caught in a rat mesh without the human or govenment resources - where accountablity is overlooked and their frustation is about broken promises and a humanity based on rhectoric and false definitions of hope.

I hope for your strength and wisdom.

For centuries there was no such conflict. In the 19th century the land of Palestine was inhabited by a multicultural population – approximately 86 percent Muslim, 10 percent Christian, and 4 percent Jewish – living in peace.

In the late 1800s a group in Europe decided to colonize this land. Known as Zionists, this group consisted of an extremist minority of the Jewish population. They wanted to create a Jewish homeland, and considered locations in Africa and the Americas, before settling on Palestine.

Hitler’s rise to power and Nazi atrocities, combined with Zionist activities to sabotage efforts to place Jewish refugees in western countries, led to increased Jewish immigration to Palestine, and conflict grew.
"

As of November 2008 from 2000, "123 Israeli children have been killed by Palestinians and 1,050 Palestinian children have been killed by Israelis since September 29, 2000."
"1,062 Israelis and at least 4,876 Palestinians have been killed since September 29, 2000."
"8,341 Israelis and 33,034 Palestinians have been injured since September 29, 2000."

Sounds like a humanitarian crisis to me.

Mr Singer,
Divide and conquer is your mode of operation. A strategically devious but totally obscene objective design to advance Israel’s aspirations while contuing the disposession of Palestinian people.

500k -1 million people the numbers are irrelevant they are on illegally gained ground. This is a thinly disguised attempt to justify Israel's annexation of territory taken by force.
Simply a means to deny Palestinians their own state. which is based on wholly fatuous assumptions.

No amount of obfuscation on your part will change the facts ordinary people were dispossessed by force to provide the "state of Israel".

You seem to be labouring under the erroneous misconception that a religious grouping (Jews) are the only ones that are entitled to form a nation.

I am by no means a Jew hater I have a daughter who shares this faith although not the ideals of Israel. There is a clear distinction between the religion and the hypocrisy that is Israel’s bellicose policies.Neither does this mean I'm anti Israel but I do believe in the 1967 borders and reparation paid.

400 average people killed so Israel can do as it wants with impunity.
In short I condemn Israel's expansionist policies. Their God is a bloody God.

Things have changed since 1947 a fair negotiated peace is possible but not with Israel’s political system environment. One where religious bigots (settlers)hold disproportionate power.

It takes two sides to have a war this is a clear case of the recalcitant V the narrow minded. Neither side needs encouragement just common sense.

The United Nations has done the right thing for once in a long while. I am heartened to see that a long last Israel has a free hand to take military action against criminal thugs who have no intention of and do not believe in, and will never support a two State solution. The U.N. suggested a two State solution in 1947 which the Arab neighbouring countries of the Palestinians all rejected. They wanted the lot; and had no desire to share with the Jews.
The current troubles are the result of Islamic arrogance.

Dear_Examinator.... I have a degree of patience with twits :) but you are just about exhausting mine.

As someone said "I don't suffer_fools lightly"

You_said:
<<"on illegally gained ground. This is a thinly_disguised_attempt to justify Israel's annexation of territory taken by force.">>

The base shallowness and discriminatory bias in your post is clearly seen in that abysmal understanding of the facts.

"illegally gained"
"taken by force"

OOOooooooh... come ONNNNN... (shriek..shout..jumps up and down waving a sign which says "PROPOGANDA")

Here is the problem with your view.WHICH historical starting point is your point of reference? The usual empty, shallow, bigoted, terrorist supporting approach is to start at 1948 and claim Israel came about 'by force'...now..you went back a bit further to 1800s and mentioned 'Jews migrated'...and in the next breath you said "conflict arose"
DUH X 1000 why did 'conflict' arise? Did those migrating Jews 'STEAL' or 'CONQUER' parts of Palestine? errr NOPE...did they lawfully BUY land and settle there? errr YEP....

So...on WHAT grounds did 'conflict' arise? if you had a SHRED of honesty in you, you would admit that 4% Jewish is quite managable, but as that percentage INcreases....... Arabs begin to worry...about WHAT?
I'll tell you 'what'... they know full well that their Arab Muslim Caliph Omar ILLEGALLY AND BY FORCE took that land in the year 637!

They also know that the Jews have a strong connection to the land and their identity is wrapped up in it.

HEBRON MASSACRE 1929 ooooh yes.. the vile evil of the Islamist/Arab mind... they simply heard rumors that Jews in Jerusalem were taking control of Muslim holy places and killing arabs. (Untrue) so..they immediately began murdering the nearest Jews.

How dare...HOW DARE anyone try to legitimize the illegal and forceful occupation of Israel by ANY foreign race or power. The Arabs are there ILLEGALLY and only as a result of FORCEFUL CONQUEST... it matters not a scrap if Australia was invaded/taken by Indonesia in our generation... our great great great great grandchildren will still be told what happened and it would STILL be 'stolen property' until restored to Australians.

To examinator:

You state "I do believe in the 1967 borders and reparation paid." Let me comment as follows:

1. There were no 1967 borders. They were only the armistice lines between Jordan and Israel and Israel and Egypt after the 1948 War. The West Bank and Gaza are still in 2008 "no man's land". Both Jews and Arabs have claims to sovereignty that are currently trying to be resolved under the Roadmap proposals without any success.

2. No return to the 1967 armistice lines by Israel was contemplated by United Nations Security Council Resolution 242 nor was the creation of another Arab State in the West Bank and Gaza between Jordan, Israel and Egypt mentioned in the resolution. The Arabs had 19 years to create such a State between 1948-1967 and had failed to do so.

3. If the Arabs had been prepared to negotiate with Israel immediately after Jordan's loss of the West Bank and Egypt's loss of Gaza in the 1967 War when not one Jew lived in the West Bank or Gaza (they had all been driven out by Jordan and Egypt in 1948) the boundaries would have been easier to draw. However the Arabs refusal to negotiate with Israel until 1993 prevented this occurring.

4. 500000 Jews now living in the West Bank make it practically impossible to do otherwise than divide the West Bank between Jews and Arabs. You can't force 500000 Jews to pack up and leave against their will.

5. Reparations should certainly be part of any resolution. They could be possibly used to induce Jews living in the West Bank to voluntarily resettle in Israel to facilitate an easier subdivision of the West Bank between the Jews and Arabs continuing to live there.

6 Neither Jews nor Arabs can realistically hope to end up with internationally recognised sovereignty in 100% of the West Bank. The Jews have accepted that proposition. The Arabs still have not. Until they do no possible solution to end the conflict will occur.

"For centuries there was no such conflict. In the 19th century the land of Palestine was inhabited by a multicultural population"

As long as the Jews Christians etc accepted an inferior Dhimmi status. Paid special taxes, Synagogues and Churches has to be smaller than the local Mosque, in some countries their houses had to be lower than those of the Muslims. Egypt did not allow Jews a Passport.

Some multiculturalism. Hamas Hezbollah Taliban Al Qaida Wahabi want that to continue, a major part of the problem.

And note well, at least half of the Jews in Israel are of ME stock, refugees from Islamic intolerance - they left their property behind, the Palestinians are not unique in their disadvantage.

And while we are at it, let's squash this overcrowding myth once and for all.

Polycarp,
Your definition of a fool amuses me what you mean is anyone who doesn't see things your way. You still can't distinguish between criticism of an idea and the person.
Again your quotations are one sided.
Blind Freddy knows your stance on all things Muslim and your idiosyncratic views of Christianity. You discuss nothing else.

You are entitled to your views. Like I said have you gained any converts or convinced anyone opposing your bellicose views? I think not. I therefore wonder given that discussion is made impossible by your didactic stance I feel for you isolation. Perhaps a less dogmatic stance might illicit less confrontational conversations.

David,
I am well aware of the history and I’m pragmatically unimpressed. But where we differ is that you want to return to a 1967 agenda simply because it will be easier to negotiate or Israel can throw their weight around easier.
Time and tide have moved on Israel as a protected species due to internal politics in the US. That doesn’t infer morality in all that Israel does. Neither does it legitimize it continual grab for power. Why should the Palestinians be the ones to give and suffer?

My understanding of your organization is merely another means to claim legitimacy and dictate terms to the Palestinians.

As for the 500k being forcibly moved that didn’t bother the founders of Israel when it came to taking their land, the settlers for always pushing the envelope…Oh yes did I mention Israel’s racist internal ‘apartheid polices’. You know the one where intimidation and land theft from Arab Israelis is ignored.
Your views suffer the same logical flaws as any other arm of the Israeli PR machine.
Your is not a discussion just a devious contrivance.

Your comment - "But where we differ is that you want to return to a 1967 agenda simply because it will be easier to negotiate or Israel can throw their weight around easier." - is a blatant misrepresentation of what I wrote.

Indeed it is you - not I - who want to return to the 1967 armistice lines existing prior to the Six Day War when
(1) Egypt and Jordan occupied 100% of Gaza and the West Bank
(2) Not one Jew lived there because Egypt and Jordan had driven them all out in 1948 or had massacred and dispersed them before then as in Hebron in 1929.
(3) The opportunity to create a second Arab state in Gaza and the West Bank between 1948 - 1967 - in addition to Jordan - had not been taken up by the Arabs

A return to 1967 is not going to happen for two reasons:
(1) Security Council Resolution 242 which still remains the definitive resolution which brought the Six Day War to an end.
(2) The changed demographics of the West Bank in 2009 where 500000 Jews now live and in which their right to reside is given legal authority by virtue of Article 6 of the Mandate for Palestine and Article 80 of the United Nations Charter

Israel has reportedly offered to cede the Palestinian Authority 93.6% of the West Bank and Gaza plus a piece of Israel's sovereign territory to make up the 6.4% of the West Bank Israel will retain. The Palestinian Authority refuses to accept this offer. This intransigence continues the long list of rejected offers that have seen the Arabs' prospective share of Western Palestine continually decrease with each rejected offer.

That is their entitlement but they then only have themselves to blame for missing yet another opportunity to add to the numerous missed opportunities thrown away by them over the last 70 years.

one under god - the history of the Jews is well known, if a little different from their own understanding (the Hebrew Sacred Text being more like a historical novel, with the emphasis on novel). So leave off the conspiracy theory stuff.
I've been a peace activist for many years, but the solution to the Muslim hatred of the Jews will only be found in force.
The Muslims conquered the area (the Romans called) Palestine in 634 - 640 AD, and found a majority Jewish and Christian population.
The Christians aren't interested in ruling the area any more, and their invention called secularism protects them. But it does not protect the Jews. Not against Christian and secular anti-Semitism, and not against muslim anti-Semitism.
For that protection, the Jews need their own homeland, and Palestine is the only place the Jews have a genuine relationship with.
The Muslim Arabs will not accept this, with very few exceptions, and those exceptions have not proven effective in stopping the others.
I'm very sorry to see it, and to say it, but I think the Jews will have to go on killing Palestinians until they and the rest of the Islamic world come to terms with the fact that they can no longer excercise the anti-Semitism as they are used to doing.

camo>>the history of the Jews is well known,>>

yes ALL THROUGH TIME THEY ATTACKED NAMES
[the constant being they were all goys ;non jews]
except for that one nation you slaughtered when they were recovering from the circumsision

beginning in the bible into now ,the constant reveals the non goy names then kills any non goy

lets make the list to reveal who you attack by different name

natzies ,then the name libian..[olympics], egypt, jordan, fatah, hamas, the names just go on ,ever more murder

your killing names
[yet in reality the only constant is YOUR KILLING

>>I've been a peace activist for many years, but the solution to the Muslim hatred of the Jews will only be found in force.>>

ok i see why the peace talks allway fail

our bible [youyr torah]..reveals how good you are at murder
from scarificial goats,to innocent lambs, doves even unleavend bread
by your deeds..[murder by name calling]..are you revealed and reviled

who the next name you will kill?
kill the goys right
a goy is any non jew [get the joke]

all mudered are goys
by any-other name

>>and their invention called secularism protects them. But it does not protect the Jews.<<

so your saying three thousand years of murder has made you safe?

>>Not against Christian and secular anti-Semitism,and not against muslim anti-Semitism.
For that protection, the Jews need their own homeland, and Palestine is the only place the Jews have a genuine relationship with.<<

this relation ship expired
and god allowed your lease to lapse

>>..but I think the Jews will have to go on killing Palestinians until they and the rest of the Islamic world come to terms with the fact that they can no longer excercise the anti-Semitism as they are used to doing.<<

mate look up the word semite
[it includes arabs [not russian bolchovic talmudic jews]

your going to keep killing GOYS,.[non jews]

murder by any other name is murder

just as you killed your own messiah

''for you are an adulterous generation''
[from your own 'holy' texts]

adulterous as in adulterating EVEN GODS WORD

The 'Palestinians' are thick. Firstly, the 'Palestinian' is an 'infidel' invention which the Muslims are willing to accept. So much for their claim to being pure and untainted by the non-Muslim world.

Also, seventy seven percent of the former British mandate of Palestine is within the present day boundaries of the State of Jordan. So they have most of their State and ought to move there.

The Muslims are both racist and anti Jewish religion on prejudiced Islamic grounds.
The world, instead of caling for more 'truces' should demand the unconditional surrender or else continual warfare against Hamas and Hezbollah just as we all once did against the Axis powers during WWII and also against the Japanese.
Unconditional surrender or else ! Muslims should not be exempt or deserve any special treatment for bad behaviour; no one else is. That's life.
