India's blame game : Comments

By Syed Atiq ul Hassan, published 11/12/2008

The Indian government has labelled Mumbai as India’s '9-11', forgetting the past carnage caused by Indian extremist groups.

Pete, Kochou and tang;
The author never appreciated not supported terrorism. I have read many past articles of the author some of them still available on this forum where he has criticised and condemned even Pakistani government, dictatorship, he has written so many article on people-to-people contact on India-Pakistan. He is a human activist who has written many article many against Muslim autocrats – shame on you to accuse him.
It is really shame on you that you have accused the author as being Pakistani agent without any evidence. I believe your nick names are fake and you must be Hindu extremists who believe on killing Muslims, Christian and even low caste Hindus..... you don’t have courage to accept that India is full of racism, caste-ism ...... tell me you shameless people; is there any India’s neighbour who is happy with India... Every Indian neighbour is fadeup with India attitude and rigit and visionless policy.... What about Indian insurgency in Sri Lanka..... you love to talk about Pakistan insurgency and terrorism but don’t want to talk about killing of thousand of innocents, rape of young women and children by Indian army in Kashmir...

The problem is that Pakistan is not an observer to terrorist violence in India. It actively facilitates it. Ejaz Haidar of the Pakistani newspaper "The Friday Times" calls it a state of subconventional warfare against India.

When Ajaib Singh Bagri and Ripudaman Singh Malik were arrested by Canadian RCMP for their role in the bombing of an Indian 747 airliner over the Irish sea, they were about to flee to safety in Pakistan.
The role of Pakistan in training and funding the terrorists in the Punjab is well documented.

Pakistan did the same in the Indian North East, from bases in then East Pakistan (now Bangladesh).

"Continuous Struggle" - the Biography of Amanullah Khan, one of the founders of the JKLF (Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front) documents the role of Pakistan in starting the insurgency in Kashmir:
He writes "The ISI first made contact with the JKLF in early 1987 through the organisation's senior leader, Farooq Haider. Haider made a deal with the ISI whereby the JKLF was to bring to POK young Kashmiris willing to fight Indian rule; they would then be given military training and arms by the ISI to start an insurgency in the Valley. The first batch of eight young fighters from Indian Kashmir were said to have reached POK in February 1988. They were given military training and weapons by the ISI and sent back with instructions not to start anything until they got a green signal from Pakistan" "Three separatist leaders, Mohammed Afzal, Ghulam Hasan Lone and Ghulam Nabi Bhatt, were called to Muzaffarabad in June 1988. After lengthy deliberations, we asked them to start the insurgency on 13 July, 1988."

That the Pakistani military runs terrorist training camps is no secret. When Bill Clinton sent cruise missiles to kill Osama Bin Laden, they killed Pakistani military trainers at the camps instead.

Just today Ansar Burney, a former Pakistani Federal Government Minister and human rights activist stated that terrorist camps were still being operated with the active complicity of the Pakistani military.

India treats Muslims well relative to the treatment of Hindus in Pakistan. All sides have members are poor and have nothing to lose and what to get even. No one is to blame. I think it would be preferable if it were partitioned along etho religious lines.

I apologise that this brief post will not do justice to the article or to the other contributions, but I thought my post to http://johnquiggin.com/ may be of interest:

http://johnquiggin.com/index.php/archives/2008/11/27/terror-attacks-in-mumbai/#comment-223004
"... I suggest readers open their minds to the possibility that the Mumbai attacks were a ‘false flag’ operation as were the devastating terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001."

The Mumbai attack is discussed, amongst other places at http://winterpatriot.blogspot.com/2008/12/double-cover-4-beyond-ridiculous.html .

If anyone considers my claim about the September 11 attack to be far-fetched, view this YouTube presentation (http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=gC44L0-2zL8) or read this post (http://forum.onlineopinion.com.au/thread.asp?discussion=2166#51675) and subsequent discussion from an Online Opinion forum on “9/11 Truth” and then try to convince yourself that the ‘collapse’ of World Trade Center Tower 7 on 11 September 2001 was not a controlled demolition.

Hi Malik

I appreciate that, on this your 17th OLO comment, you don't know much about me or other posters that you falsely condemn.

Interesting how the debate has descended into name-calling. Unlike some passionate commenters Syed Atiq ul Hassan is indeed a thoughtful balanced writer.

I agree Syed "is a human activist who has written many article many against Muslim autocrats"

I've accused Syed of nothing. Read my post again - carefully.

Due to my disagreement with some of Syed's comments about India and Pakistan I put up arguments to set the picture straight (as I see it of course).

When Syed says "India must not sabotage these efforts to build relations by acting antagonistically." that, in the context of Mumbai, is placing too much blame or onus on India.

Balanced debate in the Australian tradition rather than sectarian passion is what most people expect here. This should not lead to suspicions of being "agents" of anything. India is far from perfect – no country is. While I see India as being a large and positive part of Australia's future (many more advertise China...) my own continuous Anglo Australian origins go back to the 1860s.

I criticise Pakistan not Syed. Having known many Pakistanis, they, like Indians (Hindu and Muslim) are generally reasonable, forthright people who say what they mean.

In Ireland terrorists of both sides gained a high political and manly standing because it was always easier to play the Blame Game. This false approach still exists in too many countries outside Australia.

Countries like Pakistan which cannot survive financially, politically or in terms of security without massive US assistance should examine themselves a little bit more. A history of being held to ransom by those who hold guns (the Pakistani military, ISI, LeT, AQ, Taliban etc) has not helped governance in Pakistan over the last 60 years.

If Syed is saying that India should reply with moderation due to its maturity – and thereby stand above the cycle of violence, then I agree with him.

Regards

Pete

The Terrorist Land and Envirnment court of NSW has just perpetrated another great injustice.. steam rolling and trampling the clearly expressed will of the people a-GAINST a Muslim school in Bass Hill.....

and soon, the might perpetrate more terrorrism against the Australians of Camden.
