Keith, before you get too ecstatic about the number zero and where it came from ... u better talk to the Hindu's who claim the Muslims got it from them :)
No doubt the Western stream of History owes something to the Islamic one, but hey, they also benefited from those they conquered and we kind of went 'ahead' while they stalled. I don't quite see what the point is of mentioning such things... the issue here is the cartoons and the reaction. Just on the subject of religious offense :) do you recall my gentle nudge and then your (what I thought was) sincere apology, which seemed a bit over the top to me, I wasn't after an apology, just alerting you that some language has the potential to hurt feelings, and then... you used Gods name again and 'Hi Boaz'.... err.. which made me think twice about your (uneeded) apology.... and here you are making profound statements like "Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit" :) Note to self.. "watch this dude.. he seems to have many 'positions' on things" *grin* Isn't it preferrable though, when we get a gentle 'nudge' rather than a cry to chop one up and spread the body parts all around the world ? Your house is still intact.. no death threats...etc. If I had a dollar for every time I've head "Jesus F*_*_*G Christ" etc.... I could retire. I think that kind of remark far and above exceeds the little bomb like turban on a cartoon character. SouthPark regularly has a lame Jesus in it, many movies portray Christians as loony wimps and losers and idiots... Many movies about Jesus are grossly disrespectful.... Thing is, we believe people are accountable to God, not "us" in those types of matters. But a democratically elected government which was voted in on a platform which would prohibit such stuff, would have every right to do so. I agree Irf, but I have a Book full of Arab Cartoons depicting Jews and Christians in a lot more inflammatory content than those on display from Denmark. I would go as far to say These pictures make the Denmark ones look like pre school finger paintings.
I think it is a typical case of Hypocrisy, It is a pity we can not post pictures, and there are 280 pages in this book: Peace: “The Arabian Caricature”. Perhaps if we put these on display it will calm the beasts. They might feel at home once more. Posted by All-, Monday, 6 February 2006 3:23:06 PM

History has excised all honor from religions and their false prophets.
Irfan's religious quixotic stand in condemning, in the name "of a man he grew up to regard as a prophet", the destructive passionate anger of the Muslim "rabble" (his word), erupting of all things from "cartoons", is to say the least, breathtaking. In view of the fact that all official religious leaders of Islam by CONDEMNING the cartoons, and by implication freedom of expression, are the real instigators of the eruption of their brainwashed followers both in Europe and in Muslim countries. Of course, Irfan as a Muslim Don Quixote does not attack the real cause of this eruption, which is deeply rooted in his religion, but the windmills of the apparent cause, clad as a diversion, i.e., "generals, emirs, kings, and presidents." But here lies Irfan's own diversion. As only by politicizing the religiously caused events he can evade the issue that the destructive violence of these events have the passion of fanatic Islam behind them and are far from being an antiquated or modern political diversion. My advice to him is, that now that he is a grown up man it's time to outgrow the prophet that he grew up with. Ifran's ideas are good ,and I believe that muslims of the lower class, illiterates ,are being used worldwide by the wealthy ,intelligent, muslims to cause havoc worldwide.
What do these poor souls have to lose, as they are part of rent a crowd, to destroy and show hatred to West ,without the thought of consequences of their stupid actions? No work,no homes,no education,no health care ,no hope , while we are being attacked (West) it takes the pressure off the wealthy arabs, muslims, islamic religious leaders, imams ,etc, to provide all these life's neccessities to them. Chritian nations provide evreything for muslim immigrants and refugees without intolernace. Not so in their homes nations. Why don't the super rich Muslims provide care for their ownI wrote much that Ifran did last week about treatment and archaic life styles of the muslims worldwide and was criticised for it. Why do these poor souls have to pay for & make one visit to Mecca when they can't feed their own families? It is cruelty to their own. Posted by dobbadan, Monday, 6 February 2006 4:17:57 PM

I know I should not think like this and I know its a dreadfull thought.
But can we ever live together? my view is not just yet, has anyone burnt down a building after watching God being lampooned in south park? No not realy others may not like my views but I do find it sad but true that the fact BOTH, sides need to understand the others is unlikely to happen without a dreadfull war no one needs but we may not aviod. Islam seems unable and unwilling to take control, in my personal opinion. Posted by Belly, Monday, 6 February 2006 4:21:27 PM

Let’s be realistic – far greater crimes are being inflicted by muslims worldwide than a stupid cartoon. Churches are being torched, Christians tortured, raped and forced into islam, writers and filmmakers assassinated, … the west reaction?
We live in a world were everyone especially leaders must have a thorough knowledge of the Qur’an, the hadiths, and islamic laws.
If we were threatened today with Fascism or Communism, I don’t think our leaders will be tolerating another Hitler’s Mein Kampf or a Karl Marx’s Das Kapital. So why I ask you should we tolerate islam’s supremacist goals and appease them every time they get offended or blow themselves up for their cause??
Let me assure all the misinformed sceptics that islam is far more potent then the above put together because islam is fuelled by ignorance and their cause is deified – has the seal of approval from their prophet and founder in the name of a god: Allah.
The “intelligent muslims” are the most dangerous of all. They do not blow themselves up or attack civilians and property; they are the brainwashers of the ignorant masses.
Each time the “west” naively backs off to accommodate any new impasse, a precedent is set, always favouring islam. New laws follow making “dialogue” more impossible.
The long term damage from restricted freedom of speech and expression (cartoons) is more damaging than a thousand bombs.
There is no such thing as moderate muslim. What makes them different (not radical) is their indifference or lack of knowledge of their own religion.
Don’t be mislead by the Irfans of this world. Next they will want to sell you that islam is a religion of peace and tolerance. Far from it.
Tragically our misinformed governments still believe that any religion is a good as the next. Not knowing that islam disregards everything we stand for and ruled by; including our constitution. Islam supersedes all other religions and policies.
Their first allegiance is to the nation of islam. The fact that they become fellow citizens does not guarantee any loyalty or commitment to their host nation.
