Albanese's 'productivity' summit: a political show with no substance : Comments

By Scott Prasser, published 22/8/2025

Rather than attend, the Opposition should have run its own summit — a true government-in-waiting would set the agenda, not follow it.

Indy,

Everything you enjoy today, is thanks to the productivity of others. These knockers like this Old Fart Prasser, who have produced nothing of worth in his entire life. He was into "policy and research', in other words a blowhard full of hot air, one of those bureaucrats you love to hate, Indy.

Paul1405,
Partly. not everything, quite a lot of it is from myself & quite a lot of what those before me & now those after me have & are enjoying is from them & me.
I'm simply one of the many taxpayers that actually worked rather than just spent time at a desk playing Solitaire & engage in Social media. I still recall getting phon calls from clients diverted to my phone in the field because the office girls were busy in the aforementioned.
There's no denying that bureaucracy is a massive sponge that never gets squeezed even you'd agree with that. I think we can safely assume that if the Public Service bureaucracy was reduced by 50 % it would perform far more satisfactorily as performance & merit would be clearly observable. It can also not be denied that far too many bureaucrats (not including PS who do meaningful work) are grossly immorally overpaid. In my book no PS should be paid more than the PM & he's already getting too much for what he gives in return.
We really need a separate term for Public Servants who are not in bureaucracy. We could call them Public Servants & the meaningless & unproductive we could call Bureaucrats. Same with Academics vs Professionals !
Underperforming Judiciary should be voted in by the taxpayers rather than appointed by their peers.
Image what a superb society we could be ?

Dear Paul,

«Everything you enjoy today, is thanks to the productivity of others.»

I cannot speak for "Indyvidual", but are you then claiming that s/he is a slavemaster, holding the whip for others to "work, work, work, harder, harder, harder"?

As far as I am concerned, much of what I suffer from today is due to the non-spontaneous and unjoyful over-productivity of others.

Yuyutsu,
You have no idea how quick some of the indigenous (ring) leaders are to remind outside workers to do their job but turn around & remind them of their duties & you'd very quickly realise on which side of integrity they're standing !
The whole circus has become one of unwarranted accusations fostered by academic do-gooders !
The losers are mostly the innocent in the communities just like in our society. Paul 1405 is a fine example of the hypocritical side of the fence & why no progress is noticeable !

Dear Indyvidual,

Yes, there are numerous things I have no idea about because I have no interest in.
Is your last post related in any way to the issues I mentioned?
