Trumps 'ethnic cleansing' of Gaza is a great idea : Comments

By Peter Bowden, published 26/2/2025

TheUnited States needs to pay for the reconstruction of Gaza under the Trump plan. After all, it was their President's plan, and the United States is the richest country in the world.

The Australian model of a one liberal democratic state for all citizens living in peace and with equal political, social and economic rights in a multicultural society is the best option for Palestinians and the invaders. Macedonia and Palestine have been oppressed by settler colonisists with genocidal crimes. We have never conceded our sovereignty to anyone. We must be free and equal like the rest of humanity.

I agree with Denys, this proposal is breathtakingly naďve. It also has zero chance of working, but it has muddied the waters and made the chances of a sustainable peace even less likely. Some reasons why:

1. The probability of Trump actually being willing to commit tens of billions of dollars and troops and other manpower to rebuilding Gaza over several years is nil. His slashing of aid budgets, and withdrawal of support for Ukraine and disgusting push to commandeer their critical minerals in return for past support, shows the nature of his commitment to international affairs. Altruism and international community building do not feature highly.

2. Most Gazans won’t want to go, and to force them to leave would be ethnic cleansing. However you interpret the history of the region (and it is fiercely contested), forced resettlement is hardly a neutral option.

3. None of the countries in the region want to take resettled Gazans, even temporarily.

4. The UN will fiercely oppose it. The UN does not even recognise Hamas as a terrorist group. So there is every chance Hamas would stand in an election. Last time they did, they won (though it was a long time ago – Gaza has hardly been a thriving democracy since 2007).

I think Trump is dog-whistling to the far right in Israel and the USA that wants to see the forcible expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank as a precursor to the creation of a “greater Israel” – the extremist Zionist equivalent of the Islamic state sought by Hamas and its useful idiot friends abroad who chant “from the river to the sea”. The Zionist vision of this is marginally less appalling because it envisages achieving ethnic cleansing it through mass deportations not mass murder. But it is still appalling.

A simple solution is to send Gazans to Australia. Plenty of room in the wide brown land and huge sympathy throughout for Palestinians.
Another bonus would be increasing the number of Muslims in Australia to around three million.

Great for multiculturalism, great for the suck up to the U.N., and great for the building industry.

Their expertise in tunnel building could be utilised for much needed extensions to the underground rail network; just imagine a tunnel extending from Circular Quay all the way to Mascot. Huge advantages.

Their expertise at violence could be harnessed to quell White Supremacist riots against the beloved Multicultralists and to guard the National heroic flags of First Nations and Homosexual rainbow flags, which should flutter freely in the streets of our great inclusive Nation.

Further employment could be found in subduing unrest among the Jews that might object to their presence, particularly since Australia with its inclusive policies of integration, could advance the cause by settling Gazans away from the Jihad controlled Western Sydney suburbs, with its drug and gun running cousins, settling the Gazans into newly built high rise towers right along the coast, including Bondi and all points north and south.

Ensconced in their new bullet proof abodes, high above the Jews in the Eastern suburbs, finally the Gazans could snipe away for a year and a day at the terrified Jews below.
What a beautiful flower is Multiculturalism! Bring it on Uncle Don!

The best solution would be to destroy every building still standing
and destroy anything that starts being built.
With no built up future people will start leaving.
After all if a neighbore shot you would you want him back again next
door after gaol ? Especially if he threatened to do it again & again.
The Arabs wont rebuild if they think their reuild will be destroyed again.

I find the title of this article and what's implied no less offensive than what the Sydney nurses said to be honest.
The outcome would likely be far worse than any harm the nurses could've done on their own if they truly meant what they said.

Trump says no right of return for Palestinians under Gaza plan

Well Armchair, what is your solution ?
All the solutions I seem to see will just lead to another war every
5 to 10 years for the next hundreds of years depending on how many sons
the women of Gaza give birth to.
Don't fool yourself, this has been going on since 650 ad.
