The decline of sensible politics : Comments

By Ben Rees, published 20/4/2023

The problem now facing the western world is the failure of both Reaganomics and Thatcherism to manage the dislocations that have emerged following Covid and the European military crises.

"At the heart of Australia's emerging economic dislocation lies failure of contemporary economic philosophy".

Philosophy my eye! Australia is going down the gurgler because useless Australians have had it too good for too long, and they are too stupid to realise what is happening. They are getting what they deserve.

"Immigration has become the instrument to build population and stimulate growth." Yep.

Over 2023 and 2024, the numbers are telling. Economic growth (~1.5%) will struggle to exceed rapid population growth (~1.5%), driven by a well-funded Albanese immigration deluge that smashes our 100-year records.

Polls confirm, it's not what voters want. It is what powerful donors and "stakeholders" want, whether they are "left" or "right". They police and shut down dissent, with the zeal of a medieval inquisition. Hullo, open borders. Goodbye, sensible politics.

Yes. We are collateral damage. It's the 'tyranny of the majority' at work.

Agreed. Unfortunately the majority against immigration doesn't speak up.

Maybe the richest 1% have had it too good for too long, but the vast majority of Aussies haven' had it good enough for long enough!

Immigration is a convenient scapegoat for those unwilling to address future needs.

Risible rubbish. It's ok to build dream castles in the clouds but not to move in as a permanent resident.

The decline in sensible politics started around the 80s and 90s. Following a post war period of unprecedented prosperity (cooperative capitalism comrade) when we were the third wealthiest nation on earth and a creditor one at that.

Show me one example where privatisation has ever resulted in cheaper fees or prices or a more reliable supply! And indeed, almost alone, enabled today's crippling power prices!

Senator blurting out the C-WORD

Late, late, at night, on the tiles, on the town...

A lucid example of "The decline of sensible politics" is a certain Federal Senator's (who calls herself a "Proud Aboriginal") powers of expression.

So who are the stupid here who vote them into positions of power over us; how can it be argued against the fact that the compliant fools are those who do.

Alan would you please give us some examples of "cooperative capitalism comrade" you are often on about.

As a technical specialist in the raw materials industry in the 60/70s I remember only a very competitive business climate, with everyone wanting to beat the competition.

One of the things I loved was the change to having my clients taking me out to lunch, trying to get me to spend more time with them, showing them the latest techniques & materials being developed in the states.

This was a 2 way street with us developing products we could send back to the states, but I don't remember much cooperative activity between companies.

It was the trendoid Greens of Melbourne who thought it a good token to appoint her to a Senate slot

rather than we the people directly voting for her in the way we vote MPs in.

Maverick said- Checkout the second paragraph after "She replies"

Answer- Apparently Thorpe said "Any black man that stands with the f*-*-g white little c*-* like that, youse can all get f*-*d, too." It seems to imply that Lydia Thorpe believes that black men shouldn't be supporting white women- perhaps because it undermines the psychological purity of black people. In a sense I agree with her that aboriginals need to protect their own interest and encourage their own people to support in solidarity. But I'm sure she is happy to undermine the solidarity of white c*-*s. To me the answer is Aboriginal Autonomous Sovereign Territory's where they can live according to their own laws- poke sticks into each others eye's if they like- smack their people with clubs if they like- government of the black, by the black, for the black. If they want to live in White c*-*s territory they follow white c*-*s rules and get the same as white c*-*s- without special treatment. If white c*-*s decide that this arrangement needs to be adapted for protection of their interest then that is their right too- as a government of white c*-*s, by white c*-*s, for white c*-*s.

Apparently Aboriginal women for example- were better off after the arrival of white c*-*s.
