The twisted logic of the anti-Charles sentiment here almost turned me into a raving monarchist. As things stand I am just a calm one, a quiet supporter of our constitutional monarchy. The thing about this arrangement is precisely that you take what you get given in the monarch stakes. The top job goes to a person who arrived there automatically via a defined line of succession. It works. There's evidence. Feeling powerless? There are plenty of opportunities to exercise one's democratic powers. That the monarchy isn't one of them is its strength, a key reason for its retention. Resist the temptation to reject a monarch you don't like personally. Take pride in the tolerance that requires. Share it. Tolerance is valuable. It might be nice to try an alternative, like an elected president of a republic. It might work. But it won't be a reversible experiment and the risk is huge. What we've got will do just fine.

What is more immediately important than the Monarchy and Charles is the hell on Earth we will be experiencing under the Ockernese government for at least three years.

Bad things are going to happen. There is almost zero opposition, and we are going to have to live with it; so I've started re-reading 'The Benedict Option' for comfort.

In the first few pages is the reminder that people of virtue will come to understand that full participation in mainstream society will not be possible for those who are not of the Left. We need to find new ways to live - just as Benedictines did in response to the fall of Roman civilisation. And, make no mistake: our civilisation, while not yet at breaking point, is in big trouble.

That is an exceedingly ignorant thing to say. When normal people air their views about multiculturalism they don't do so because they 'hate' multiculturalism, they speak up because of the negative impact brought on by immigration of white-hating migrants.
