Here is a member of the establishment who tries to drown out the last voices of protest, who calls on young people to betray and dob in their friends who find no other way to escape or revolt against the system.

I could imagine myself as a young university student, one too many, lacking the blessings of saints and the wisdom I now by God's grace have, facing an empty life as a cogwheel, a number, a statistic, a piece of data, pressed hard between government and corporations to live by serving these beasts in a meaningless digital jungle - that being so, I could well imagine myself too performing that final protest.

Mr. Schwartz, there was no need for you to attend these memorial services, you only did so for your own prestige, your most unwelcome presence there desecrated the memory of these victims of the establishment of which you are part, who never asked or wanted you to be there.

I'm not university/super tafe trained. I'm self educated. If you saw my bibliography and Library you'd be truely astonished.

As for the comments critical of mine ... well that's why most of the world in the so-called educated elites influence is in such a mess and crumbling.

As for academia the Yanks are starting universities unaffiliated with the current idiots and without bureaucrat run funding..

I think it's high time they also came up with a new term to disassociate themselves from the traditional Academics so as to gain public respect when it is truly earned instead of just flashing some tickets gotten at a good price from some Uni !

I disagree with the article. While its just ridiculous to go removing books in order to protect "vulnerable" students, that doesn't mean we need to be talking about suicide. In fact we do far too much talking about suicide already. "Mental Health" in general has of late become a badge of honour amongst the young and foolish. Whilst suicide used to be stigmatized and shamed, it is now more likely to be attractive to a young person due to the attention one gets from peers and others. Everyone wants to feel special, and being the "suicidal Girl" is a very easy way to be special. Not to mention the Werther Effect.
