The Anglo unilateralists strike : Comments

By Binoy Kampmark, published 20/9/2021

It would have been more accurate to say that President Donald Trump's coarse, business board room model was simply too much of a shock for those familiarly comfortable with guile, deception and dissimulation.

Dear AnSymeonakis,

We do deserve better Pollies on all sides, but don't rewrite the facts/history to promote your anti-conservative narrative. Yes the subs contract was signed under a conservative government, but led by two labour wets in Emperor Mal and his SA minister Pine. Both promoted this deal (against ADF/Navy recommendations) to help save their one seat marginal hold on power (which had dropped from a 25 staggering large seat margin under Abbott).

The French deal was to shore up seats in SA, no more, no less.. pure modern ego driven politics. And if you feel sorry for your socialist chums in France, what about the Germans. Japanese and Swedish who all had batter bids than the French.

Politics is dirty, you shouldn't encourage them by hiding behind party politics. The French deal should have been investigated by a Royal Commission ( or an ICAC if we had one). That contact is one of the largest contracts on the global defence market, yet good old Ozzy pork-barrelling is what that deal was!

Emperor Mal is no more conservative than Julie Gilliard, if fact he was so useless to them that they wouldn't let him join the labour party before he joined the Liberals.

"Our population is 26million (plus 300,00 native aboriginals)."

Since when have our First Nations people been excluded from our overall population statistics?

"Chiana wants constrain, control and eventually own this valuable continent. So when will Australia learn to use its leverage>"

Perhaps you could provide a direct quote or some definitive evidence of China wanting to 'control' and 'own' Australia.

Duuuuuhh, Bronkwyn!, just look at the economic attacks and social "persuasion" used against Australian Chinese. Also the Global Times and the use of shelf companies to buy up resources and industries. Non of which you or I can do in China.

Re Indigenous number, its left wing woke socialists who want to treat indigenous as special. As for me, we are all equal and deserve equal opportunity, not special treatment, rules, financing and rights, as activists promote on your fake "mob" side of politics.

My understanding is that for some time prior to signing the contract for diesel subs with France Australia approached the US, UK and France to supply nuclear subs and all declined. The latest round got the US to supply Nukes while France still declined.

I'm surprised that in this article in the first two paragraphs- Binoy Kampmark was able to restrain himself from sinking the boot into Trump and talked about Trump in a positive way. Yes the grammar was a little disjointed and difficult to read but perhaps done in a rush. Kudos.

I'll read the rest of the article to see if there are any diamonds.

Canum... don't waste your time.... KB is a classic example of why Australia wastes so much money and expose students who want to learn/question to a University education. As an retired academic I try to engage with this generation of academics/professors... its a waste of time, them come from an indoctrination education system...

Chiana must be choking with laughter on our education system ... from primary, secondary, tertiary all the way to post-doc!

Canum if you want to understand the world... question what the media presents to you as fact!
