The Anglo unilateralists strike : Comments

By Binoy Kampmark, published 20/9/2021

It would have been more accurate to say that President Donald Trump's coarse, business board room model was simply too much of a shock for those familiarly comfortable with guile, deception and dissimulation.

I think that Scott Morrison missed his chance. When the French President expressed his outrage at the cancellation of the battery powered submarine contract, Morrison should have suggested that his comments on betrayal, etc., be referred to the captain of the Rainbow Warrior.

what .... me about supposed scholars like Binoy is that it has long been discussed in the Australian media that there were major problems with the French submarine deal.

But any opportunity to sink the boot sin is taken up by such supposed masters of the political studies sphere in our universities

Never mind. By the end if this week the moving feast of claptrap will have moved on to the next breathless "crisis", and the offensive French will be forgotten and ignored as they usually are in Australia.

no doubt the Morrison govt is not perfect. I am yet to see one that ever was.

But Australia is in a difficult situation. It was standing up to China, but was also hoping that the relationship would improve given our pathetic reliance on basic export products, including international students.

I read a US piece where Australia was reluctant earlier in the year to commit to hosting long range missiles.

But now, Australia is in no doubt that it will never win over the disgusting CCP.

Hence, last week's agreement with its close friends, with the US and UK still the heavyweight champions of the free world for a variety of reasons
