The wreckage of Trump’s presidency : Comments

By Alon Ben-Meir, published 16/10/2020

Many psychiatrists and psychologists who have analyzed his behavior, public utterances, and tweets have unanimously concluded that Trump is a psychopath, a pathological liar, uncompassionate, narcissist, greedy, and shallow.

J.C.S. Your comment would be more correct if you had said, no immediately visible side effects!

However, we have yet to reap the long term side effects of infection even for the Asymptomatic and super speaders like kids! I mean, if you cannot discern it with the naked eye? Therefore, ipso facto, it doesn't exist, right Dr J.C.S?

We could have stopped this thing in it's tracks months ago with a complete lockdown and totally closed borders for two weeks. When even those infected would no longer be contagious after two weeks of mandatory and complete lockdown, with no exceptions! Only non compliance allows it out and evermore contagious carriers, spreading a highly infectious contagion!

[And I get that you think that us older folk are no longer of any use, therefore, a disposable commodity that is past its use by date and just numbers! You're just so human, decent and careing!]

[What a wonderful world it would be,if only we could be, just like you!]

Or with real offshore quarantine for those who returned from super spreader cruises and the like!

Border force should have ensured we'd done just that! Border control and border security is theirs! Don't have to have a medical degree to apply plain old commonsense and a level of, absolutely essential, competence!

Here's the thing, we didn't do that, shock horror, because a total shutdown was both unthinkable and thanks to geniuses just like you, undoable!

What we have left until there's a safe, effective, reliable vaccine is testing at all critical exit and entry points/borders, schools etc. With the locally developed 3 minute, 95% reliable, breath test!

And make the offshore quarantineing of those testing positive, immediate and mandatory! And allowed to return after a fortnight or as soon as 3 confirming tests prove negative, whichever is the sooner!

Alternatively, send what is left of the remaining economy and a recovery to the nearest Taxidermist! We can do one or the other! Not both! Choose, Genius.

Alan B. I was, like many, very concerned when the story was coming out of the long term significant damage to the internal organs of those who were infected with the Covid-19 virus. So instead of taking the word of the ABC and print media stories, I sought out and read the precipitating report. It was both disappointing and reassuring.
There had been no measured identified "permanent" adverse affects confirmed at the date of publication.
There was speculation from medical specialists who weren't actually working with the patients. The speculation was aimed only at patients who had been treated in ICU for extended periods.
In short, the hyperbole of significant health effects on anyone who may contract the virus was unfounded.
Your concern that the older generation are at greater risk must be qualified with the point that those who are in good health, and despite the images portrayed to us all when we were young and invulnerable, not everyone over 60 suffers from some potentially catastrophic malady waiting to incapacitate us at the merest hint of a nasty virus or rogue bacteria.

Hi Alan,

There are probably empty camps and facilities on places like Norfolk Island and Christmas Island (and Heard and Macquarie Islands if necessary) where all vulnerable over-81s could be compulsorily housed, until the Covid-free end of their lives. Turn 81 and you're off to an island paradise.

If they were all rounded up and sent there, the rest of Australia wouldn't have to worry, because nobody else will get the virus, and we could all (i.e. those of under 81) get back to making money, the prime purpose in life.
