The wreckage of Trump’s presidency : Comments

By Alon Ben-Meir, published 16/10/2020

Many psychiatrists and psychologists who have analyzed his behavior, public utterances, and tweets have unanimously concluded that Trump is a psychopath, a pathological liar, uncompassionate, narcissist, greedy, and shallow.

Alon and Loudmouth2, please keep up to date.
According to the CDC, less than 6% of the deaths attributed to Covid-19 were caused by the virus. So in real terms, the actual death toll from Covid-19 in the US so far this year is less than 13,000. Even the 220,000 is less than the usual seasonal loss of life from influenza viruses. And only a fraction of the death toll as initially being predicted by the "experts".
Remember that attempts by President Trump to block and slow the introduction and spread of the virus were over-ridden by the Governors of California and New York and their respective Mayors. Recall that Nancy Peolosi and the Mayor of NY actively went out in the streets to encourage their people to mix and celebrate Chinese New Year.
It is the Democrats who have worked hard to spread the virus and ensure that it effects more people in both direct and indirect manners.

JCS,

Do you have any sort of reference to that surprising assertion about the CDC ? Your interpretation of seems somewhat distorted, without any references. If it was applied to the entire world, then 'only' sixty-odd thousand people would have died from the virus, fewer than those killed in vehicle accidents.

Loudmouth2, Go to CDC.gov and wander around, you will find:
"For the majority of deaths where COVID-19 is reported on the death certificate (approximately 95%), COVID-19 is selected as the underlying cause of death."
Their report includes the information that "Covid-19" deaths generally include more than two co-morbidities.
Including:

"Respiratory diseases
Influenza and pneumonia (J09–J18)
Chronic lower respiratory diseases (J40–J47)
Other diseases of the respiratory system (J00–J06, J20–J39, J60–J70, J80–J86, J90–J96, J97–J99, R09.2, U04)
Circulatory diseases
Hypertensive diseases (I10–I15)
Ischemic heart disease (I20–I25)
Heart failure (I50)
Cerebrovascular diseases (I60–I69)
Other disease of the circulatory system (I00–I09, I26–I49, I51, I52, I70–I99)
Malignant neoplasms (C00–C97)
Alzheimer disease and dementia (G30, G31, F01, F03)
Other select causes of death
Diabetes (E10–E14)
Renal failure (N17–N19)
Sepsis (A40–A41)"

Yes, car crashes are certainly killing more in this country than the Covid virus. To date in Queensland this year there have been 6 deaths attributed to Covid-19 (all were patients who did have significant underlying health problems). The death toll from vehicular crashes is out of date every 24 hours and now is greater than 200.
Where the information is available, it is difficult to find any deaths in otherwise healthy people under the age of 70.
In the USofA, the death rate, even as inaccurately presented, is still around 6th or 7th when compared to some European and South African countries. The 220,000 deaths is intended to be a frightening figure to discredit President Trump in the lead up to their election.

JCS,

So, the CDC is asserting that 95 % of deaths where COVID-19 is reported on the death certificate, COVID-19 is selected as the underlying cause of death, and 5 % to some other cause of death ?

So around 5 % of deaths reported as caused by COVID-19 may not be caused by COVID-19 ?

So you would suggest that, of 220,000 deaths reported as caused by COVID-19, 11,000 of deaths may be attributed to some other cause ?

So: the more accurate figure in the US for deaths from the COVID-19 virus, as of today, is around 208,000 ?

And currently increasing at around 600-700 per day ? And perhaps increasing by 900 - 1,000 per day by November 3, given the current rise in the number of daily cases, and in the number of states where COVID-19 death numbers are increasing ?

So by Election Day, 18 days away, that total may have grown to 220,000 ?

Thanks for clarifying that point.

Joe
